Yeah, agree. Amira Willighagen is a household name. So she has the authority to innovate. Why does this Christmas song always have to be somber? She innovated to make the song joyful and praiseful, as well as uniting different cultures. She also innovated in the crossover genre. And above all, she's been innovating in the classical genre. All sopranos are taught to lower their larynxes. This results in them all having exactly the same voice, but an artificial one that sounds like the voice of a fat old Italian woman from the 18th century. They didn't sing like that a couple of centuries ago. Amira has innovated by restoring classical singing with the natural voice, as it was in Mozart's time. And she's a huge success with this kind of voice.
A beautiful radiant Amira and the fabulous Mzansi Youth Choir bringing some joy and happiness to us. Wonderful performance from Amira and this South African choir who did very well last year in America's Got Talent show. The choir has been around quite a few years now and very popular. Amira of course resides in South Africa and has just completed her first year of university doing a music degree. Apparently with distinctions. Thanks for your nice reaction hope you do more of Amira. God bless.
That is such a joyful rendition of the song. Full of life. Amira was 16 and the concert was streamed because of pandemic restrictions. She wanted to blend the African and traditional sounds in this show, and I think they did it rather well. A lot of her work has been Christmas focused. Her second album was called Merry Christmas, a recent live album was a Christmas concert too. Then there is this one. A fair number of her You Tube videos were recorded at festive concerts aswell. Love them all, I find them quite inspiring.
Amira's father is Dutch, and her mother is South African. Amira spent her childhood years in The Netherlands before moving in her teens to South Africa to live. Most of her performances on RUclips since then are from South Africa.
