My first VW (back in 1970?) was a 64 Squareback that wasn't nearly as nice looking as this one. But I was 17 going on 18 and I loved it. I could haul friends and it was fun to drive. It was white with black interiror. It was the first of 11 VWs I've owned since then. I currently have a 72 Super Beetle torn apart awaiting reconstruction that has been ignored for too long. Maybe next Spring?
My pop fixed and resold many VW bugs but never a wagon back . He built a dune buggy from a carmengia frame with a built 140hp corvair motor for power with a removable fiberglass top he hand formed and made plus painted the sheet metal body with 12 coats of metal flake purple. Just and amazing build. Could pop the front wheels off the ground a foot if not more in the first 3 gears. Those were the days. 😮
Same year memories except mine was Savannah beige + it was a fastback. A 1966 shipped here by my parents in 1968 from Germany. They bought it there and Used it in Germany then sent it here. 6 volt car with Kilometer speedo.
My Dad had one in the same green, except the interior was grey, great car, it was peppy and kept up with traffic WAY better than the 60 Beetle and the rear was practically a playroom, for me and my Brother on long trips, thx to the pancake engine, which basically gave the car 2 trunks!
Is very nice car in very good condition... I have a 1968 too. Which has the original paint and no one has ever sat in the back seat except for my kids twice... Unfortunately I've only driven the car about 2300 miles in 25 years, It just sits in my garage. Second owner
Pop bought a brand new 68' in the spring of 68' and I begged for him to buy the micro-bus, no luck. I rolled it in 1981. Sad day. Of course I went 69' bug that same year.
Its funny. In 68 my parents were looking for a new car. They looked at a 68 VW Station Wagon, my mother didn't like the high seats! The ended up getting the 68 Toyota Corolla station wagon...which had to be pushed every where when it rained or was cold out to get it started! They should have bought the VW!!!!
Beautiful! My old '68 was in Diamond blue. That dash is hard to keep crack-free around the speaker perforations, hence the redesign. You rarely see the original versions like this. Are you still running the Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection? Mine always ran well, but so many people just give up on it and convert to dual carbs. "Long may you run."

My first car was a green 69 Squareback way back in 1975 - high school memories.

I have a 70' square back with the same exterior color. I love the look of the 60's Squares with the chrome bumpers and the low light turn signals.
