    I can do the same with an eight dollar RTL-SDR USB dongle from Ebay and Open Source Software... Then I purchased another and used them together for trunking.

    I'll wait for Baofeng to come out with one, will probably run about $199 with free shipping and come with some goofy cellphone accessory for free. :-P

    If you want a DUC/DDC full HF TRX but DONT want a $6k price ticket, have a look at the Apache labs ANAN.
    A commercialised version of the Hermes and associated boards, the dual RX version is priced at less than HALF the Flex6k.

    Have you attempted to setup an array of these as a scanner, or maybe a NOAA emergency alert. I am looking to install something that can cover many of my ham, TV, commercial radio, and some scientific radio desires. Any Suggestions? -BAG2

    Would LOVE to have one of these Flex SDR systems but Christ almighty are they ever *expensive*. I can buy a really good used car for what this thing costs!

      If you don't have to have the latest release you can find lesser models for a reasonable amount. Of course, what I consider to be "reasonable" vs. someone else's definition of it can vary greatly but nonetheless you CAN find used Flex systems for a decent amount :)

    Now does this "New SDR Radio" require that you have a FLEX radio to use this seen above, and if so? Is this just an SDR program or SDR GUI interface for the FLEX-Radio hardware. Or is this a standalone SDR that can work with common inexpensive SDR Dongles etc? Such as Airspy, SDRplay, RTL-SDR.com. Sorry new to the SDR world so I apologize in advance for my ignorance here on this subject.

      Hi David, I don't think they are making it any more but you can check the website to confirm. I was a small ~2x2 inch board that connected to the PC via a USB cable. The software is a branch off of the Flex PowerSDR program built specifically for homemade SDR hardware like this.

    De F11DQP (SWL French) I appreciate this type of decoding by the soft SDR Power and USB psécifique it esl very complete about the multitude of controls and digital settings to achieve a higher quality of received signals. 73 s to one and all. Of F11DQP.

      +Fred Last - It's receive only. You can get a SoftRock 40 from Tony Parks at fivedash.com/ that will transmit 1 watt.

    At the moment this video is a useless monologue in my opinion. Are you going to give any information as to your set up instructions? i.e. How you got Flex software to work with a SoftRock SDR, what antenna you are using here etc. Not much point putting a video up without a full explanation of the rig set up, surely?
    Maybe you ought to read some of the comments below and reply to them?

    • @w4djw
      @w4djw  9 лет назад +2

      Sentul in the world of do-it-yourself SDR there is a lot of digging required. No one is going to hand it to you on a silver platter. I built a lot of Tony Parks SoftRock 40 SDR radio kits long before I found this pre-built one. All I did was unplug one of the SoftRocks and plug this one in it's place. It worked. It wasn't a lot to report because it was this radio building on the SoftRock radio building on the Genesis Radio... I didn't document all I learned before going to the next to learn more. Though I would share with everyone the fact that it works and it only cost about 100 bucks. Sorry for the delayed response.
