Individually you two make me want to read everything, and it feels supercharged now that you’re together ❤Absolutely wonderful video, I’m definitely excited to read some of these!
I just LOVE your dynamic 😍😍😍 Louise, you are such an amazing mother, what great vibes and chat. This list is very exciting. I'm looking forward to reading Dictionary People.
A Flat Place, Britannias and Some People Need Killing would be the ones I would head to first, I reckon. But for sure some very interesting ones in the mix! Looking forward to your reviews and updates, Louise ☺️ It was honestly so exciting to watch how excited you were about the surprises hidden in the box - understandably so! 😁💚 Really hope you’ll enjoy them and have such a fun time discovering and exploring 🤩 Always a fun time when you two are together!
As always, it's a delight to see you both chat books. The non-fiction longlist is so enticing. I'm already listening to the audiobook of Eve and will soon be reading How to Say Babylon. 🥰
@@louisesavidgemuses4135 Will do! I’m going on a reading holiday this weekend so will bring Doppelgänger with me, the only one I currently own, but… I also have loads of other good books packed like the ghost book you loved for Jan. 🎉 Plus, I visit this town entirely for its bookshop and I have a gift card so I could pick up Eve and a couple others ❤ Have a wonderful weekend 🤗
I tend to favor fiction, too, but am so excited for this non-fiction longlist. Which book are you picking up first? (I'm starting with How to Say Babylon)
Love watching you both! I just started Wifedom- I'm really enjoying it! I'm excited about the variety of topics on the list. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. ☺
@@louisesavidgemuses4135 hi Louise! Love your channel! It was for me, an epic story - part coming of age - part art intrigue and it did bring me to tears at one point but it was because of the way she wrote about the art. Ahh I think I should revisit it myself! Hopefully you’ll pick it up; I’d love to hear your thoughts on it. ❤️
I'm currently listening to the audiobook and learning so much. It's packed full of information about women's bodies that I've never head before. Hope you enjoy it!
All That She Carried garnered great acclaim on my side of the pond over the last year/year and a half. That is the one that immediately jumps out to me and one I’ve wanted to read in the past. I, unlike Simon, positively adored Laura Cumming’s last book, On Chapel Sands. It was my #1 book, fiction or non-fiction a couple years ago. So while I’m a bit hesitant on the topic, I think I will probably pick up this one because I like her writing and it looks gorgeous. Some People Need Killing is also a possibility. In general, the memoirs are pulling me more than the other books, but absolute hurrah! to have another prize for women!
Interesting what you say about Cummings. I’ve not read anything of hers so will come to it blind. I’m loving the reading so far and am thrilled by the whole concept. Happy non-fiction Reading! 🙏🙏🙏💜💜💜📚📚📚
Ah, this was just what I needed after an endless work day (interrupted by the longlist reveal). What an interesting and varied longlist! I think I’ve read 5-6 already (Thunderclap was special). Quite interested in Wifedom, The Britannias, Intervals, A Flat Place and Young Queens. So maybe those first and then we’ll see what the shortlist brings? Thanks so much for sharing your reactions! Such fun!
Wish I was ahead with the game like you are! I haven’t read any of the yet 🫢 Would love to know which you have appreciated most of the ones you’ve read so far 😊🙏🙏🙏💜💜💜📚📚📚
@@louisesavidgemuses4135 I have read All That She Carries, The Dictionary People, Doppelgänger, Eve, How to Say Babylon and Thunderclap. They were all good, although I will say that Thunderclap was easily my favorite of the six and one of my favorite reads of 2023.
This was so so good! I already knew the list before watching, so what was really lovely was seeing the books, how they look, the size, the covers etc. I'm so excited!! I have about 6 I want to prioritise and I have quite a lot of audible credits, so will start listening to the list ASAP. Really looking forward to seeing your updates as you go. This was great, Louise and Simon. I've read The Vanishing Man by Laura Cumming, and really loved it. So I'm looking forward to Thunderclap. But the long list is very interesting. I'll be looking out for your thoughts about them in future videos! Best Wishes 💕
Thank you for the wonderful video. I'm so excited for the nonfiction longlist, but I don't know how I'm going to make it through both women's prize longlists and the international booker longlist coming next month.
20:30 the book you are thinking of is How the One-Armed Sister Sweeps Her House by Cherie Jones. I haven't read it but it sounds like that's what you were thinking of.
Hi L and S a joy to listen to too. Re the dictionary book: Simon Winchester's intriguing Surgeon of Crowthorne is also about the creation of dictionary. As for Naomi Klein , she's been interviewed here in NZ lately and talked about being confused wth Naomi Wolf (the feminist and conspiracy theorist) and has consequently received a torrent of abuse.
Definitely want to read this about the Oxford Dictionary I believe there was a fiction book about the making of the dictionary I forget the name of it.
@@louisesavidgemuses4135 it’s The Professor and the Madman: A Tale of Murder, Insanity, and the making of the English Oxford Dictionary. I have it but haven’t read it yet now I’m thinking it may also be non fiction but a great companion read to the other, much shorter & written by a man…
I’ve got my name on the library waiting list for “Thunderclap” but now I’m seeing more temptations. Louise, I’m still laughing over the fact that Simon was trying to photograph your contractions.🤣
Thanks so much to you both for that So relaxing to watch you unbox the books I have been looking forward to seeing the long list I love the women’s prize and to add non fiction is a joy Pleased to see Dictionary People on there and quite a few to be tempted by Looking forward to finding out what your thoughts are as you start your reading adventure Enjoy
I put reservations on a few (Doppelganger and how to say babylon before the announcement) and tagged a few others on libby so I don't run out of holds but also don't forget Most interested in vulture capitalism, code dependent and The Britannias but some others also sound great but my big focus will probably be the short list since I have almost 3 months to read that compared to the 6 weeks to March 27.
I'm so excited about this new prize and the long list. Loved seeing your excitement with each book too. I have a couple of these in my physical TBR already - Eve, Wifedom.
