The battery in my helmet lasted about a year before it stopped holding a charge. At first the battery would charge too quickly, then die in a few minutes. Then, it stopped working altogether. So I bought a battery from Amazon and used my solder kit to fix it myself instead of buying a brand new helmet.
no need to cut, splice, and solder. if you look underneath the heat shrink further up the black wire there is a connector I found. carefully cut heat srink and expose the connector, then unplug the old and plug in the new and heat shrink the wire again.
saw that, connector was too small for the new one 😭😭
Thanks. another informative video.... Have you seen those 2 wire connectors with solder in the in middle. you insert the wires and then heat up the solder with a heat gun. Works awesome... thanks
Yeah I have seen those, they're pretty sweet. A little bit on the pricy side, but may be worth it for a project like this where the battery is right by your head 😅
That's the same soldering kit that I bought when I started DIYing. It is essential if you are someone who wants to fix you own things.
Definitely! For the price it can't be beat.
You would think that the manufacturer would have made it easier to replace the battery.
Plug and play would've been nice. I think they were going for manufactured obsolescence, but they forgot some people know how to work a soldering iron. 😅
For the price of the helmet, it's rediculous that the battery only lasted a little over a year.
Woot!!!! Thanky, Thanky!!!!!
Pertinent info! TY😊
Hey so how does the battery perform in heat and I’m also curious on a durable it is compared to the last one.
My god, how can they make helmets that don't have a easily replaceable battery. Mine hemet is only two years old and the battery will only hold a 40% charge. Some manufacturer that wants to get ahead of the competition needs to fix this NOW!
That's the problem, they're trying to make helmets that people have to buy every few years if they want all the features. It's called planned obsolescence, and I completely disapprove. It's worth the extra effort to replace the battery in your helmet with a quality one like this instead of buying an entirely new helmet.
