Since Rick does a livestream almost everyday I’d be great to turn it into a podcast and bring in other musicians... god a Beato Neely podcast would be insane
As a long-time professional video editor, it's been really fascinating watching RUclipsrs develop their editing and videography skills in a completely different way than how I and many others had to. We learned brevity and flow through those endless corporate gigs where clients wanted to hit 30+ dot points in a three-minute video (sorry, I mean a DYNAMIC three-minute video...), and visual storytelling through being immersed day-in day-out in an environment of talented full-time storytellers across so many disciplines. It's always incredible to me to see the calibre of editing in something like Adam's essay pieces and realise that he's gotten to that level without any of that "paying your dues" background to lean on.
Slightly Nasty I guess he paid his dues, just not in the way you did. I’m sure there are a lot of hours learning this, maybe more trial and error, and I was going to say less public but I guess RUclips has the potential to be very public. The moving tech helps. I remember my daughter showing me things she developed on iMovie that took me years to learn as a home editor with a penchant and passion for technology.
I loved this talk!! It's great to have musicians/video creators like yourself and Adam that are utilizing this platform to spread your passion for things you care about in music. It's also neat to just hear you two talk about the process of making videos and coming up with topics.
Oh man, I was already stoked at this video being two of my favourite RUclipsrs in conversation, but here's Nahre, too! I would LOVE to see the three of you do something together. Keep doing what you do, Nahre, you're an inspiration :)
Your video about Bach led me to watch the full documentary you recommended. Since, I have spent the most time listening to classical music since school. I’ve even purchased a couple box sets from the used bin at the local record store. Classical music listeners sure take better care of their vinyl than other genres, I have noticed.
Rick, Adam, you do a fantastic job on internet. Thanks to you, I finally advance my musical knowledge, understanding, playing skills. I like all your video's, especially the educational ones and the historic context videos. It is great to finally learn where all the music has been coming from and is going to. I wish you millions of viewers interested far beyond standard shop and elevator background music.
Would love to see a collaboration series with Adam and Rick jamming out on a piece then break it down musically. Love both of your channels and the passion that you 2 bring to music. Thank you
I am one of the many music producer's around today that had no musical education and have relied on the both of you to help fill in the blanks that help us write better music. I am keen to see what you both have planned for the coming year as the more time goes by and the more work I produce the more mixed my music becomes. I love to watch all the instrumentation videos you have produced. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and Rick, thanks for the book I would be lost without it
I've never been exposed to people that have real musical knowledge, now I can go to RUclips and watch Rick, Adam, Rhett, and Nahre! That is so cool and I hope they realize how much we appreciate what they do, thank you!
You and Adam are always good value. I have learned more from RUclips than I ever did from TV. Electronics, geology, lots of history, including music history and, of course, music theory. It's all there. I was lucky enough to be an insomniac during the last days of the Open University broadcasts in the UK, from which I also learned much from serious men with big hair in dreadful ties, but the curriculum wasn't mine to choose which is YT's great strength.
You guys are very big fish in the music tutorial RUclips pond. Any assistance to anyone you can give is awesome! Just like your Carl Sagan example - you guys have a huge platform, and if you can promote the hidden gems, that would be awesome!
Yo, Rick: Good video as usual, with two of my favorite RUclipsrs. What I particularly like about both you and Adam is that you guys can find something of value in virtually all genres of music. In your case, Rick, even popular music today can earn your praise if it is well produced. Keep up the good work!
Adam introduced the world to Conlon Nancarrow. there was a cat who had an isolated, probably obsessive passion for creating. then Rick's Bach episode shows the impact on music centuries later. you guys do music world and culture a great service. Ü ♫
In showcasing different instrumentalists and their music it would be wonderful someday to hear an oboist (do any come to mind?). But I'm with you; it takes careful consideration whether to push loved ones in a direction until and unless they are sufficiently interested. Blessings in that fatherhood role, Rick.
I think it would be great not only to play contemporary classical music like Debussy, Ravel, Messiaen, Berio, Penderecki, Bartok, Stockhausen, Hindemith, Cage, Boulez, Ligeti, Schoenberg and his school, Stravinsky and Varese. But to show the lineage like where the music comes from (i.e. How the music of Debussy and Ravel influence Messiaen and in turn Takemitsu and Tristan Murail. Also it influenced early jazz players very much because of the chords used. Music History is very important. I was a contemporary music expert for awhile in school and after. I don't play it very much anymore sadly.
Collaboration maybe? Just saying? Adam & Rick? I love the idea of yours Rick to familiarize us with the parts of an orchestra AND Adams idea (well, not his idea really but he mentioned it...of analyzing a piece with the band/orchestra playing it. Bring it on! We also need more of Alex Lifeson in particular and more Rush in general. ...and Zappa
rick has great eye contact!(subject and camera). adam not so much. it's distracting. you might wan't to improve on that adam, when doing interviews like this. awesome video. thank you both for sharing your knowledge
2:55 MightyCarMods has entered the chat. Cheating though, when a professional producer (Moog/Bryce) and a professional audio engineer (Marty) just coincidentally have a shared passion for car projects that became a car RUclips channel that just happened to need a soundtrack... and they also create the music for their friends' channels that grew out of MCM, The Skid Factory and Benny's Custom Works. MCM's songs are available on iTunes.
Lol I read it as "guilt-con". I was thinking it was a convention for the guilty. I had never heard of guitcon until now xD. But yea, still a great video
You talk about different instruments but what about the original and perhaps still the most important the voice. Do either of you guys talk about vocal techniques, styles, solo, choral, etc. Lots to cover...
what are your thoughts on remixed versions of albums that came out before the 80s? My brother, amongst many others, have expressed their opinion that most of these remixed albums are garbage. He especially has voiced his disdain for the led zeppelin remixes.
Ah ... now I see the location written down. I'm German and I was wondering the whole time, about the wired village name, when rick says the name. Ich dachte mir: "Der Ortsname klingt ziemlich amerikanisch für einen deutschen Ort." :-)

Overpowered music education podcast

I agree nahre..........at 40 I began my theory journey and 2 years in with help of rick, adam and yourself I have learned so much
Thank you
The internet needs a Nahre And Rick series!!! Please make this happen.😀
Now if we could only get Nahre to Guitcon next year. Do you play Keytar?
Oh man, I was already stoked at this video being two of my favourite RUclipsrs in conversation, but here's Nahre, too! I would LOVE to see the three of you do something together. Keep doing what you do, Nahre, you're an inspiration :)
Top 10 anime crossovers
Damn, I just commented this, just before seeing yours.

Both great musicians with huge knowledge.
Love these guys. Endless knowledge, curiosity, skills, and enthusiasm. Thanks for all you do.🤘🏼❤️

Love you both! Two smart guys discussing not just music but the future and social trends. Keep doing what you're doing guys.
What I appreciated about this conversation is that you both let the other finish their sentences.
You and Adam are always good value.
I have learned more from RUclips than I ever did from TV. Electronics, geology, lots of history, including music history and, of course, music theory. It's all there. You are an inspiration... this feeds my head. Thank you for your work!
LOVE these guys. They're both excellent resources and have informed opinions. They also seem super cool and down to earth.
Great discussion guys, really enjoyed this!
Great to watch and learn from two great guys! Reminds me of our morning trips to the factory. 💖
I don't know whether it was AN brought me to RB or vice versa but I love this very honest sharing video between 2 of my favs.
You guys are very big fish in the music tutorial RUclips pond. Any assistance to anyone you can give is awesome! Just like your Carl Sagan example - you guys have a huge platform, and if you can promote the hidden gems, that would be awesome!

Rick and Adam in the same place, awesome!
Rick, I think it would be great to see you interview great producers and engineers and mixers.
The orchestral instruments series is a great idea!
Really enjoying this
Awesome discussion! I'd love to see more videos on orchestral writing.
The best music (teachers) youtubers in my humble opinion. Rick, Adam... you guys Rock (or Djazz... if u prefer that).
Great discussion. Keep up the good work Rick, can't wait to see all the things you have planned for your series
Thank you!
I know it's a cliché to say this but I'd listen to you guys chatting for a lot longer!
My two favorite Music RUclips content providers.......thanks
This was awesome...loved it!!! 💗💗💗
Rick, your video with Chris Cornell's cellist is one of my favorites on your channel. By all means, please cover more orchestral instruments!
Two big musicians where at the same spot next to my country. Great vid
Adam introduced the world to Conlon Nancarrow. there was a cat who had an isolated, probably obsessive passion for creating. then Rick's Bach episode shows the impact on music centuries later. you guys do music world and culture a great service. Ü ♫
Great discussion, really enjoyed this one!
Love your collabs
Great discussion guys. Thanks for sharing it!
Loved the format And editing! You guys should collaborate more!
He's (Adam) appearing everywhere this days and I really love that fact
My two favorite channels on the same video :-)

But I'm with you; it takes careful consideration whether to push loved ones in a direction until and unless they are sufficiently interested. Blessings in that fatherhood role, Rick.
Best oboist I've heard in person is Francois Leleux.
Excellent topics and interesting points of view, guys. Thumbs up!
The best. Both of them. Now: who knows exactly what kind of guitar that blue stat behind Adam is? It's hot!
Awesome video. Keep em coming Rick
Adam reminds me of another more prominent celebrity and it’s driving me crazy that I can’t think of it!
Guys, (Adam)
It would be interesting for us to hear a description of HOW musicians play in those cities you mentioned.
A great video, two of my favorite RUclipsrs in one room! But yeah, I really like the idea of your channel digging more into the orchestral stuff.
"RUclips - A place to go to learn" - Yep.!! Another entertaining and instructional vid. Cheers.

orchestral instruments, yes, Rick !
Absolutely!
Keep up the good work guys.
Great vid guys!
Ah, the peak of Guitcon videos.
...nice intelligent conversation..

This is one of my video tutorials and the content is great, thank you!
Timely!!!!!
Great talk! Love your videos! Can you do a mixing technique video for Andy johns?
Greetings from Pelotiyehue.

Buenas peras presente!
Saludos a Buenas Peras!
17:50 The word you want is “platform”.
Adam, you should DEFINITELY visit Cyprus for the ultimate food experience
rick has great eye contact!(subject and camera). adam not so much. it's distracting. you might wan't to improve on that adam, when doing interviews like this. awesome video. thank you both for sharing your knowledge
More history stuff would be awesome, Rick.
Mr. Beato please make an special about the Brian May red special guitar and the Brian May tone and guitars replicas brands.. And influence

Does he really think we are weird and will find other weirdos? This gives us hope we may someday gain a subscriber!
you two guys should do heaps more content together. seriously.
Who the heck is Adam Neely...
....OH!!!
No Chit...
Just discovered him w/ Pete Thorn , and now w/ Rick...
So, there ya have it !!
I would love to see you interview Kyle Gass from Tenacious D - He has a RUclips channel called Guitarings.
No way! I actually live in Plauen, Saxony. Its damn close to Markneukirchen!
completely off topic, but since you're not far, and since I'm curious😊:
Rick, have you ever been to Italy?
I have now subscribed to Adam's channel, damn! I am not going to have any time to watch cat videos now.
what are your thoughts on remixed versions of albums that came out before the 80s? My brother, amongst many others, have expressed their opinion that most of these remixed albums are garbage. He especially has voiced his disdain for the led zeppelin remixes.
Man that's a good looking Dual Rectifier
It’s fun to watch “unscripted” Adam Neely!
Wait...Adam travels for Music and Food? Has he ever been to (or even considered visiting) New Orleans?
A serie about electroacoustic music would be awesome
I keep eyeballing that PRS
Why does the name Guitcon remind me of trying to buy something in Guitar Center?
Rick & Bass! Funny, now I get suggestions for Neil Degrasse Tyson vids :)
you should definitely watch "Cosmos" :D
Do those things do process for everyone? We'd like to buy one from you. Would you take $13k?
I'm at GuiltCon in Vienna. Let me tell you about my childhood. 😕
Rick is like my dad and Adam is like me.
"But what does music... mean?" -Music Vsauce
This is what youtube is for
What kind of guitar is that behind Rick?
Adam is like Rick 30ish years ago :D
Where in Germany?
I'm confused because there was no BASS at the end...
I know, I was thinking we might get a guest BASS.
In the Lydian Chromatic Theory video of Adam and Rick there is a Bass from Rick :)
Edit: BASS from Rick
"But what does music...mean?"
*VSauce music intensifies*
youre in germany? come over to frankfurt and teach me jazz! haha
It was a great interview but your spelling of Markneukirchen sounds terrible
Ah ... now I see the location written down. I'm German and I was
wondering the whole time, about the wired village name,
when rick says the name.
Ich dachte mir: "Der Ortsname klingt ziemlich amerikanisch für einen deutschen Ort." :-)
;●) Great content
