    Warriors offered Klay 2yrs/$48mm last summer which was his market value. He declined and wants 3 yrs/$75mm+ in FA. He is not worth that kind of money so not sure why you feel the Warriors are committing malfeasance here. Lacob has been adamant that paying continuing to pay exorbitant luxury taxes for going way over the salary cap isn’t feasible any more.

    • @spectralnighttravel
      @spectralnighttravel Месяц назад +1

      This. I don't know how anyone can criticize the Warriors front office, when the owner has paid hundreds of millions in luxury tax over the years to win championships. People are acting like the Warriors are supposed to be run like a charity and just give out money to anyone and everyone who's demanding it, regardless of how much it hurts the organization. The new CBA is finally going to come down hard on super teams, and they're not winning championships with Klay anyways, so there's no real reason to pay exorbitant luxury taxes to keep the team together.

    I actually think it’s great for the team’s success that Klay is gone. He was essential for the dynasty but at this point he’s just too inefficient and borderline not good anymore. Thanks to Klay for his contribution to the dynasty. But at the end of the day, he had multiple opportunities to prove that he could be the Klay of old again. But zero points in 38 minutes in a win or go home game was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

  • @wnc2004

    I know I’m gonna get a lot of hate for this, but I am glad that Klay Thompson is gone and I feel like it is an even bigger slap in the face that Klay Thompson is willing to take a pay cut to join the Lakers or clippers if that report is true and regardless he has an ego. We offered him a contract that he is worth and he thinks he is worth more because of his ego. He has an ego complex and that was even more evident when a report came out that said Klay Thompson was unhappy with coming off with the bench, even though he was very productive coming off the bench, and he was was one of the least productive starters in the league statistically. His shot selection is poor, his ego is big, and he was taking minutes away from B Pod and Moses. Now Kerr is forced to play Moses. One last thing to note is our record since Klay Thompson returned from consecutive lower body injuries in January of 2022 is very underwhelming and before he returned we was a great team on pace for 60 wins

      Klay's attitude when he came back was the most difficult thing that he never got better with. He was resentful, wanted everything to be the same and refused to modernize his overall package meaning his look, his swag, his attitude. He came back a grumpy resentful old man and never snapped out of it. Sad.

This likely won't be a championship season, but it will be a season to finally get the finances straight and let the young core of Kuminga, Moody, Podziemski and Jackson-Davis grow. I'm looking forward to watching that. Also I'm super glad we didn't trade for Zach Lavine, a guy who plays no defense and has a contract that likely would have hard-capped us for years.

    C - Quinten Post (2-way center with 43% 3PT)
    PF - Lauri Markkanen
    SF - Jonathan Kuminga
    SG - Reece Beekman (2-way quick player with passing skills)
    PG - Steph Curry
    2nd lineup
    C - Kevon Looney
    PF - Trayce Jackson-Davis
    SF - Lindy Waters III (Splash Waters)

    While the Warriors front office deserve a lot of blame for a lot of things, the handling of Klay's contract is not one of them. From the info available in the public domain it just seems like Klay thought he was being low balled and the Warriors thought they were being fair. At this point in Klay's career the only scenarios in which he could have stayed with the Dubs were either Klay recognizing that he's declining and taking a pay cut without being offended by the offer or the Warriors deciding that winning isn't as much of a priority and want to take care of Klay regardless of outcome. Since neither of those options were likely to happen, Klay leaving the Dubs was always the most likely outcome. But like you said, Klay is a Warriors legend and should always be loved and respected by the fans.

  • @DebraL321
    @DebraL321 Месяц назад +3

    But the franchise player-Klay Thompson-has to want to come back! And nothing he is doing matches what he was saying! Klay has allowed a poor shooting night to bring everyone down. Sorry-love what Klay has done as a Dubs, but he got huge pay when he was injured two years-and he is no longer a defensive player. It was at the end of the season and coming off the bench that had him playing good. And he is not acting like how he was talking about the Dubs and wanting to stay. And I feel bad that he is acting this way because it is gonna affect Steph and everyone else! Good luck Klay and I hope you are treated and supported elsewhere as you were with the Dubs.

      (I really don't think people understand how stuck the Warriors were btwn a rock and a hard place with the new cpa rules... they were trying to 1st aquire a new 2nd option to help Curry & Klay due to the fact that they weren't chip worthy by themselves. Then, after acquiring that new 2nd option, they were trying to somehow keep Klay! All of that proved to be impossible and the gamble backfired. But I don't blame the dubs fo for trying. Klay, being Klay couldn't wait to see how things played out and took the 'waiting' as a slight and flipped the F out... all because he thinks he should still be treated like a max player, which he isn't any more.
      I honestly believe that one day, the whole time-line of how everything played out these last few days will become public knowledge and Klay will feel regret and realize that he maybe could have handled the situation better with a little more realistic outlook, behavior and patience, realizing that the Warriors FO wasn't trying to screw him over and that they were truly stuck trying to solve an impossible situation. That is, keeping the big 3 together forever, contend for a chip, let the youngins develop and finally to avoid financial ruin for the foreseeable future.

    mismanagement and greediness ended the dynasty. they thought they could do a 2 timeline thing when they should have absolutely traded the wiseman pick, the kuminga pick, and even the moody pick for impact veterans back in 2020/2021. instead they kept these young guys without developing them and then gave up wiseman for basically nothing, and then traded poole and other assets to bring in chris paul just to waive him for absolutely nothing. now they are out on paul george, and there’s no real moves that the warriors can make to make enough improvements to move the needle enough to get back to the finals, and with that knowledge you’re gonna let klay walk for nothing despite not putting together a competitive roster? just awful.

    I think klay ended the dynasty, warriors wont really give max since he’s not a reliable 2nd option. Warriors needed to add one more scoring option to take the load off of steph so they offered klay enough to sign another. With ego at the door, klay will definitely brush out the sour taste on his mouth by for sure taking a much lower contract elsewhere

    Klay is partially to blame to. He's letting his ego cloud his judgement. Not being realistic about his value as a player. The G.M. Dunleavy Jr. was a mediocre role player at best when he played for the Dubs. Now he's looking like a bad G.M. as well. Get ready Dubs fans, we are going to be at the bottom of the Western conference for as long as Dumpleaver Jr. is at the helm. Back in the day I was so happy when the Dubs traded this bum away to the Pacers. Wish he would have just stayed away from the Warriors for good.

    Klay is gone and good riddance to his selfish ass. His many flaws have been exposed for the whole world to see since the injuries robed him off his athleticism. Underneath his once supreme athleticism and shot making ability is a selfish player with little awareness of concepts of team defence or team basketball. He was always a shoot first ask question of think later kind of player. Now there is pretty much thing he brings to the table other than his reputation as one of the best shooters in league history so he still gets guarded like that. But he can't guard in space or down low on the block, once his man beats him he's just as likely to wander around aimlessly rather than make timely rotations. And if he can't even shoot 3s efficiently because he can no longer get the separation he once did and still has awful shot selection then he has almost no value.
    At his current level of production and consistency on both ends 15m per would have been generous considering his age. The 2 for $48 Mil that he turned down was already a massive overpay based on passed achievements and sentimentality.
    The truth for Warriors fans of which I've been one is that the dynasty died when KD walked out the door. That chip in 22 was a confluence of good fortune carried by an all time Steph playoff run. It wasn't the Dynasty reborn it was just a fluke run from a still good team with an all time great player playing at his peak when it mattered.
    Now Free Agency has been a bust if they were hoping to give it one last run because a half decade of dominating the league has made them plenty of enemies no other teams were going to do them any favours.
    Personally I think Joe and Mike must be breathing a sigh of relief. They can say they made honest attempts to get another star and give it another go, but now the pivot towards the future is clear. Paying a stupid payroll and luxury tax for a 10 seed is just not sustainable even with Steph on the team. They won't actually tank and rebuild while Steph is around obviously but objectively they should be trading him and starting the rebuild as fast as possible.
