this is a GREAT instrument. lately i've been crafting my own instrument samples and implementing them with this synth is giving me a huge set of possibilities to explore
Looks very intuitive and well implemented, will pick up a copy for sure. However, I must say, you guys should definitely plan to implement a granular engine for the samplers, to truly take this to another level...
@@lunacyaudio When is soon and YEAH please do that ! That would be heavy. Ever thought about making the FX Section assignable to each and every of the 8 Samplers ? @@lunacyaudio Hello lunacy audio :) I just have quick question as I haven't been able to find the answer anywhere. The ether slider is supposed to morph between 2 "dynamic layers" as I understand. Is this 2 different samples we can set, or is the dynamic layer created internally from 1 sample? Thanks!
@@mattiasboden2329 Hey there! Good question. The ether slider is deactivated for any corners using user samples, so that slider won't have an effect if you use your own samples. For built-in sounds, we include two dynamic layers which the ether slider crossfades between.
Love this plugin use it in every song, it's become my favourite tool for making drones and soundscapes but a couple of things i'd love to see improved upon would be... 1. When on the "Sounds" screen if i want to change the root note of a sample the audio cuts out when making changes, if you could fix this issue it would be much quicker to find the root note and make creating more complex patches less tedious. 2. I would love it if i could drag samples and loops straight out of my session into cube, would open a whole world of possibilities for resampling, also if there was a way to drag apple loops in that would be cool as i'm a Logic user. But great plugin look forward to future packs and updates!
Just purchased this synth based on the video by Venus Theory. I love this thing! And this video is very helpful as well, as I primarily want to use this with my own samples. Two questions: your video shows a play head on the samples in the corner editor. I am not seeing that in my instance. I've looked through the settings, but can't seem to find a way to enable that. Can you tell me how that can be done? Also, is there a way to configure my samples so that there are 2 layers, thus allowing the Ether controller will work with them? Thanks for a really great product.
Hi Gregory! I'm so glad you're enjoying CUBE and thanks for the questions. Regarding the playhead, we temporarily removed it for performance reasons but may add it back in a future update. At the moment, you can only add one sample per corner, so the Ether is deactivated for that corner when using your own samples. I do think that's a cool feature idea though and we'll add it to our request list! We appreciate all the feedback.
There are a lot of features but I'm missing some basic ones like a pingpong loop mode (with a loop crossfade length setting). I guess you could modulate the reverse on/off but it's not as easy.
Does Cube analyse the sample and determine the note it's in or does that need to be set manually, or should all samples be in C3 or C4 prior to dragging into a Cube engine?
would you guys know anywhere to find any more preset banks or packs for cube I am in love with the sonics of this VST, ive got all the packs toy guys have released.

This looks interesting and I'm tempted to try it out, althought the build in effects sound generic, boring and flat. But as a sucker for pure sample mangling, I´m still interested. But I have one question: Can the Cube's animation itsself be turned static? It makes me dizzy looking "into" that shaking box. Thank you.

Maybe I'm just blind, but how do you know which sample is assigned to which corner? In the video, the Global Editor screen on which you load the samples shows identifiers "A" through "H" for the samples, but the main screen which shows the cube doesn't show those identifiers (all 8 corners are unlabeled).
Hey there! If you look in the top right corner of the Global Editor, you'll see a small CUBE icon. Whenever you hover over a sample, it will highlight which corner corresponds with that sampler. You can also click on each corner individually to open that editor and change the sample.
@@lunacyaudio I see now (in this video, that cube icon is shown in the top-left corner, just to the left of the "Global Editor" heading). As I suspected, I was just overlooking it. Sorry for the stupid question.
Hey guys! Any chance you could clarify how the 'internal loop' mode works when it is enabled? I see that I can move the purple playhead and that contols the start point - But what do the white braces do when I drag them around? I am also getting a weird behavior where if I drag either of the white braces across the sample (click and drag then release) it will move the other brace around too. For example, if brace 1 is at point A, brace two is at point C and I click and drag brace one to point B (somewhere between point A and B) and release it it will snap back to point A and brace 2 will move to point B. I just dont understand how this 'internal loop' mode is supposed to be used? I also dont understand how the purple 'loop' button functions - is there no way to change how much of the sample loops, crossfade amounts, etc? For being a sample based instrument these are huge fundamentals that are seemingly missing. Thanks!
Hey there! Great question regarding the user sample imports. The internal loop will define the section of the sample that will loop continuously in the backend. Once the sample has reached the internal loop end point, it will jump back to the internal loop start point. The purple playback head will still define where the sample starts, regardless of the internal loop points. The "Loop" button above the waveform is not technically an audio looper, but rather an efficient use of the arpeggiator where it will retrigger the sample using MIDI according to the "Loop Time" set. This saves a lot of CPU and has nearly the exact same effect as looping the sample, so we opted for this solution for corner "looping". At the moment, there isn't an option for crossfade amounts for user samples. We hope that helps!
I`m a little bit distracted cause I can´t get my eyes away from the CPU meter! Could you giv e us a little bit information about the CPU usage of Cube, cause it would be a big downside if I could only load 1 Instace of Cube and that`s it. Beside this fact it looks very nice.
Hey there! Great question. Most users have no issues with CUBE's CPU usage and our trailer tracks all use over 40 instances of CUBE. The graphical interface runs on the computer's GPU, so it also will not affect performance. This is all dependent on the machine, but most devices can run multiple instances of CUBE without any issues.
Good question! CUBE automatically maps the root pitch (or speed) to middle C on your keyboard. You can change the root note by adjusting the "Root Note" slider on top of the sample waveform.
Hey Luke! Yes, in the preset browser you will see a button in the bottom right labeled "Save As New Preset". This will allow you to save the whole patch including the sounds loaded.
Hey there! Are you using a MIDI keyboard or DAW with CUBE? It will automatically map the sample to your MIDI input, so you can play the sample without any extra setup. You'll need to be sure CUBE is receiving either MIDI input from your DAW or MIDI controller.
