The first time I drove a truck on a public road I had just turned 14 and I was visiting a friend whose family owned a farm. It was harvest time and my friend’s Dad handed me a set of keys right after breakfast (at O-Dark-Thirty) for this clapped out FreightShaker that was hooked to dumpbody trailer. I had driven one of their John Deere tractors with a pair of grain carts hooked to the previous 2 harvest season when I was too young to drive a truck on the road. I have to say it was pretty much a baptism by fire which included replacing the Bluetooth floorboard on the driver side of the truck after the seat broke loose from the missing rust (nothing fancy just a typical farmer fix a piece of used plywood, drywall screws, and liquid nails. That Frightliner other than being an absolute rust bucket was a lot of fun to drive after my buddies Granddad told me to drive it like was pissed off at it (why yes it had 318 Detroit in it).
Great video Jeff always enjoy watching you work dirt or rocks. Moving your Killdozer from one place to the other is interesting also. Glad to see the compressor back in place getting closer to finding the coolant troubles with #1 scraper. Thanks for sharing stay safe Jeff.
Some years back, I was working on a job in the Midwest. Had nothing to do on weekends, and since I was in the middle of farm country, I made a deal with a local farmer to drive his Semi hauling corn, wheat and beans to the co-op. Wasn’t a very hard job, gave me something to do and allowed him to stay in the combine.
When and where I grew up, they would hold off on starting high school for a week or so to help farmers if the crops were heavy. Just the way it was done back then. Glad to hear it still happens in some states.
I watched a large dozer slide off a trailer while turning left. When the blade hit the asphalt that dozer jumped up in the air and landed about half way on the trailer. Lucky it was early morning with almost no traffic. Also saw a pan, like the three you have, break a rear chain and roll off the front of the trailer at a sto light. Fortunately for the driver it stayed on the trailer and didn't quite hit the back of the cab. So I'm surprised you drove down the road without it tied down.
Hey sir, glad to see you feature the D9er. I miss seeing you that monster. Still love to hear it when you crank her up and that deep growl them old Caterpillars makes . And wanted to say howdy from Texas . Hope you and your family are doing well. Take care sir. 9/28/23 @ 8:14 am
He's got a couple rollers in his head that are worse. And he's still functioning somehow. I don't know how but he is. But that dozer is in better shape than he is 😂
Wow no Chains but Wi-Fi, Lordy reminds me of when you was under that mopar no jack stands, you be much to valuable to everybody to skimp on that easy stuff Jeff. Want to keep seeing Jeff win without a car crushing ya or a dozer slipping off that deck Love ya man 😎 From Tucson Az
I emergency ordered a line for a new combine super special everything cuz machine is down and it has some special bulkhead fitting on the line 2 days ago they say maybe they will ship it in 2 more days. 20 years ago it would have been here next day. Progress!!!
Jeff looks like you have had a pretty good day. Having the air compressor line right should top off your day. Do you ever think maybe a big problem is coming down the pipe.🤞
What has 38 tires Jeffies Oscar Myer weinner Mobile painted green! Jeff I used to run and D9 in the oil field ripping rock and pushing dirt. She was a beast and a joy to run and take care of.
Surprised you don’t have a army shovel or something like that on the dozer at all times just in case you need to clean off mud to adjust track or leave it overnight and you don’t want mud to freeze stuff like that but I’m no expert I’m sure there’s no good place to store it and it’s not that hard to put something in the pickup lol I’m just rambling on thanks for sharing buddy
My son had to interview people for his ag service tech class and one of his questions was “what’s one of your biggest complaints about being a technician “ I said parts people
Bannister pipeline unloaded a side boom into the ditch at 60mph on a sharp left curve just moving it a few miles. This was before Bluetooth chains but the concept is the same. Ditch was full of snow the machine skidded to a stop upright way out in the willer bushes.
How do you get away with no chains and binders once your on the road Jay, where I'm from if you step foot onto the street with a piece of equipment on a trailer and its not tied down they throw the book @ya.
It’s called clean country living (aka not a lot of cops because there is not a lot of traffic. That said I used to live a very rural area and equipment used to get moved all the time with Bluetooth chains when driving on county roads because the country police/sheriff had other things to do than worry about how a piece of equipment was or wasn’t chained down. However the state police always seemed to have plenty of time to bust your stones if the equipment was not “properly” chained down, mud on tracks/undercarriage, overweight, etc, etc. I now live in a major metropolitan area now (and hate it) and lord help you if you pull out on a public road and not have your load properly secured, free of mud/debris, and don’t even think about going down the road overweight. Last month I saw county/state DOT officers set up a portable chicken coop on the road to transfer station and they were writing tickets like an old fashion ticker-tape machine. A buddy of mine who works for a local municipality and was caught in the line caused by portable chicken coop and said that 8 out 10 privately owned trucks got written for something. The point of my rambling is it all depends where you live and how enthusiastically the cops are about screwing with trucks/truckers if you can or cannot risk get away with Bluetooth chains etc
I started driving potato trucks under the combine at 9 years old and was driving semi trucks and trailers at 11 and when I got my daytime only license at 14 I was driving semi's on the highways and interstate. Honestly I think I drove better at 16 than I do at 46.
The Gederal fine for just touching your phone weather it's a text, or an email is $13,750.00 that is broken down to an $11,000.00 fine for the Company, and a $2750.00 fine to the driver, in my case since my DOT #is on the door I would get both fines as would you for doing it...
Mr Jeff, So, I’m reaching out to you for only an option and I know everyone has one. My 40’ Monaco with a C7 300 hp with 26,000 miles. The delayed in turbo when taking off from a stop, passing and so on. It run great except the lag of the turbo. I bought it from my uncle, always been garaged and maintained. Will the switch blade in your opinion fix this as we know you have installed them on a lot of your equipment. No expectations, just an opinion. Thanks big Dan
I like how Jeff bashes the girls with the phone in their ear and goes on to say something about fines.....I wonder what your fine would be for an unsecured load Jeff?
@@Jpaydirt you can get a medical exemption for that one you just have to be willing to explain your doctor why you need to do it behind the wheel it's not a big deal any excuse will work. Just tell him Mama isn't doing her job and all on you have your medical excuse.
Why complain about what the other truck drivers do wrong if you are going to haul around a 90k lb dozer with no chains? Like the pot calling the kettle black.

You have some undercarriage rollers flopping around.
Entire dozer is shot

Jeff, it looks like you have at least one roller at the back on the left side that has a bearing out of it.
Jeff watch your track rollers as your loading it onto the lowboy, looks like you have some bearings out in some of them
The entire dozer is whipped
There is wear occuring on the newer ones also
