Hay Day Kitchen: Hand Pies! 🥟

- Right in time for Thanksgiving, we’re making a special treat to share with your family and neighbors. In this episode, let’s make some Hand Pies, filled with delicious Apple Jam! 🥟🍎
We’ve prepared a simple recipe and video so you can follow along step-by-step. Go ahead, give it a try!
Ingredients:
• 1 1/4 Cups Flour
• 3/4 Cup Butter (cold, diced)
• 3/4 Cup Turkish Yogurt
• 1 Tsp Salt
• 2 Tbsp Sugar
• 1 Cup Apple Jam
• 1 Egg
• 1 Tbsp Sugar
• Prep time: 2 hours
• Servings: 8-10 pies
• Equipment: Measuring cups and spoons, bowls, plastic wrap (cling film), knife, cookie cutter (3,5 inches), pastry brush
Method:
• Let’s prepare the pie dough!
• Add the diced, cold butter into bowl with flour, sugar and salt.
• Mix until dough is nice and crumbly. Add in the yoghurt.
• Mix until dough holds together.
• Fold plastic wrap over the dough and refrigerate for one hour.
• Pre-heat oven to 175°C (347°F).
• Place the cooled dough onto a floured surface and roll it to be 0,5 inches thick.
• Cut the dough with a (3,5 inch) round cookie cutter.
• You can roll your left over dough again and cut more circles from the dough. You’ll have more hand pies and less waste.
• Place all your pie circle doughs on the table.
• Add 1 tbsp of jam to the middle of every pie circle.
• Damp the edges of the circles with a little water and fold in half.
• Seal the pies by crimping the edges with a small knife or a fork.
• Brush the hand pies with beaten egg and top them with granulated sugar.
• Cut small slits on top of the pies.
• Bake in the oven for 20 minutes.
Once finished, let the pies cool! Enjoy as a dessert with your favorite ice cream, or with a nice cup’a warm tea!
