    Just wanted to shine some light as to why you may not be upgraded as someone who worked for a Hilton property.
    (1) say you booked a double queen, and because you are a diamond you expect to be upgraded to a KSTD (King standard) or even an NXKA (King suite). Most of the time it will not happen (unless we know you personally) because they don't know if your traveling with family/friend and need that extra bed regardless if the booker selected 1 adult to stay in the room. The best thing to do is leave a “comment” when booking asking for an upgrade if available. Or at check in just ask.
    Oh and don't book on third-party sites otherwise you're stuck with what you book 9/10 regardless if you added your Hilton status, you also don't earn points.
    (2) we can see how many Hilton properties you've stayed at. If that number is a lot we upgrade those guests first. This also means we can see passed comments YOU are not able to see attached to your profile and if you're a rude/difficult guest, in which case you are at the very bottom of the daily list.

    It is easy to be loyal to Hilton. I was treated incredibly well on a trip to Saint Augustine for a small vacation. I am a gold level member due to my Surpass card. This along with the AMEX Gold Card allowed me to amass a large number of points. I was upgraded from the standard room I had booked with points to a bayfront room with a balcony. This is over $700 of value for the points I used to book the room. The fact that I had gotten drenched on the trolley probably helped too. On top of this, I got $30 off per day with the food and beverage credit because my father was with me. At the end, I got late check out so that my father and I could do one last tour in the morning before leaving. Great trip. I am sold on Hilton.

      @@LukesPointsandMiles Thanks!!! Things just worked out great. The room upgrade was worth about $80 over both nights and then you add in the $60 for the food and beverage credit for both nights. That right there is $140. Far more than the $95 for the Surpass card annual fee. Maybe this place is like your Conrad in Fort Lauderdale. The room was more than covered by the free MR points on the gold card when they were converted to 2.6 honors points per MR point. I sill have tons of points to take another mini vacation to another location for a couple of days. Then I will leave my points to build up again.

    Completely agree with what you said, great content, keep it up!
    Recently, we did our anniversary trip to Hawaii and used it at the Hilton Hawaiian village resort with points. We took the basic room and used one night credit as well. They upgraded our whole 5 day stay to a junior suite worth about 1200 - 1500 a night! Which is for sure too good a value to pass up… icing on the cake they gave us a $36 daily credit for F&B…topping that our parking charge (which is exorbitant) was lightened by the $250 resort credit… so all in all I would say a wonderful experience… we have had a few such experiences and hence we are loving the card!

    Great video Luke. I have gone the way of Hyatt Card with Chase and love it. The chart is really good and the valuation is less dynamic. IF I ever got the Aspire card, I would use it and work the system. I just feel like the points value is low and without that intro offer, you have to really work for the value. I might get around to it at somepoint.

    • @LukesPointsandMiles
      @LukesPointsandMiles  Год назад

      A lot of folks think that way because so many report the points being worth half a cent. I think the hilton cards are great earners and I normally at least .8 cpp. For example, the no annual fee gets 5x at groceries, gas and dining. If i'm getting .8 cpp thats around 4% back with a no annual fee card on real multipliers that we use every day. I think the hilton cards are really underrated and hyatt points, well maybe they're overrated sometimes.

    Fun one, Luke. I want high status in every program, and was very happy to get to the front of the Hilton line with the Aspire.
    The Aspire’s uncapped free night certificates really puts it head and shoulders above the Brilliant. Even if the value of Hilton Points were to drop further, so long as those certificates remain uncapped you’ll still get (potentially) the full value of a year or two of your annual fee back with one stay at a high end Hilton property.
    And FHR is definitely underrated. I recently had an FHR stay at the four seasons Hotel in Denver. My room was upgraded by two classes, and we received $80 per day in breakfast credits over six nights. Plus the $200 hotel credit and $100 towards the spa. Basically, if you’re fully value all of the credits and the cost of the room upgrade, that one FHR stay more than covered the annual fee of my platinum card for two years. Even if I only value all of it at 1/2, that one FHR stay, was worth as much as the annual fee of my platinum card, and that doesn’t count all of the other credits the platinum card gives me.
    I will be using three free night certificates and another free night from points when I stay in London this summer. If I get my room, upgraded a step or two, just that one stay will cover the annual fee of my Hilton cards for at least two or three years. That is good value.
    Looking forward to your next videos. Here’s hoping you can share some tricks, for jumping to the head of the line in other programs. :-)
