    Hello Dave, it would be great if you could do a video on how to adjust the carburetor on your old mxz. Choke plungers or primer, air screw, idle screw and float height. There are no videos that explains it at all and how you proceed when you have more than one carb. You are doing a nice work!!! Keep on going.

  • @crnfcs
    @crnfcs 5 лет назад

    I had a bad experience with a can. I bought a used can for my sled witch supposed to be made for my 2001 mxz. I installed it and my sled started to bog, get full and run on one cylinder on low rpm. Since I installed it right after I finished engine rebuild, I did not suspect the can. Cleaned and adjusted the carbs and bought couple of new parts, but nothing changed. After couple of months, I thought maybe the can is wrong and don`t have back pressure. I put back the stock and sled run perfect. The sound was nice tho.. :D

    • @MyOldSled
      @MyOldSled  5 лет назад

      Don’t feel bad. Very common. Lots of people do the same thing, put “performance” parts on vehicles, and they hurt performance. If you know what you’re doing, and you made other changes to the motor which require changes to exhausts, it makes sense, like in racing. Thanks for watching,

    Some cans sound pretty cool, but unless you want your sled to have a new sound or your exhaust has lots of miles under it's belt, don't buy one. They don't really increase your power, but they can lessen the weight a little.

    • @MyOldSled
      @MyOldSled  5 лет назад

      I wouldn't buy one period. My sleds are already loud enough that I don't like taking them out at night. Don't want to disturb the neighbours or scare the crap out of the wildlife as it is. On a two stroke, they won't increase power, quite the opposite.

    • @GoldCountryTrapping
      @GoldCountryTrapping 5 лет назад +2

      More HP??? Less weight???? The only thing you can guarantee a can will do is help close trails due to landowners being fed up with the Braaap brigade.

    what does the reed valve do?
    what does the transfer ports do?
    how does the piston open and close transfer ports?

    • @MyOldSled
      @MyOldSled  5 лет назад +1

      Hehe...is this a test? Reed valves work like a one-way valve that allows fuel and air into the crank case. (for bonus points) My older 670 has a rotary valve instead. Transfer port is how the fuel gets from the crank case to the cylinder. The ports are openings in the cylinder, and the piston blocks them when it's in front of them. I may do a video on 2stroke/4stroke in future.
