Hey Crabbok, Andy here from Mantic Games. Glad you like what you see here with Halo Flashpoint and if you’d like more information as we head towards launch just give me a shout and I’d be happy to chat with you about our amazing new game 👍🏼
If you have the time to respond, I have a question. As a fan of Halo and miniature games. Are there plans to expand the game past skirmish modes? I like the idea of a Halo tabletop game, but I personally want more than just multi-player on the table. Much of the fun I derive from Star Wars Legion and Warhammer 40k comes from the large battles and army building. And while I know it's just getting started, it doesn't look like the game is designed to accommodate this kind of game play.
@@leviacosta1134 this game is built off of the engine for Deadzone, the similarly skirmish scale game set in Mantic's universe. There is a larger scale game set in the same universe, something like what you're asking for, called Firefight. The rules between the two games, Deadzone and Firefight, are really quite similar, with terrain and movement rules being the primary differences, and with models used for both games. As such, and considering how Halo the original videogame plays, I'd be very surprised to see Halo on the same scale as Firefight. That said, you can ABSOLUTELY use the Halo models to play Deadzone and Firefight, and one faction, Enforcers, are already aesthetically so similar to Halo Spartans that you could likely use them interchangeably without many people even realizing you're doing it. In short, I doubt there will be a larger scale Halo game, but there kind of already is one!
To me, the recon edition seems to be a slayer version. The Spartan edition is a big team battle edition, but I'm going with the spartan edition I've played halo since combat evolved in 2001
As a HUGE fan of Deadzone, the game this is based on, I'm sad you know so little about Deadzone. Using cubes in the place of measuring works like a charm, and makes games go incredibly smoothly. Mantic's signature streamlined simple to learn but with great tactical depth rules also really serve to make games smooth. I can very easily see this game bringing a ton of new people to the hobby, and would love to then also get them into Deadzone!
As a Veteran Deadzone player (the system of which this is based) I think people are really gonna love this game. Then hopefully checkout Deadzone and Firefight as well afterwards.
Deadzone is an excellent game, and Mantic have proven they can adapt the engine to an IP with it already. Their excellent (but sadly discontinued) Mars Attacks miniatures game also used Deadzone as the basis. I ordered Flashpoint because I love Deadzone, and anything that gets me more toys to use with the system is a-ok with me!
Just stumbled upon your channel! Thanks for making an awesome video on a game I’m very excited about. Definitely looking forward to more content from you in the future.
I've preordered! I got the Spartan, the spare dice (can never have too many proprietary dice), and the token set . Oh, and Master Chief with the Energy Sword. I personally love the colored plastic aspect of this, as it really reminds me of Spartan Games' Halo Fleet Action, which did the same, Gray for UNSC, and Purple for the Covenant. Really looking forward to this, and would love to see it expanded to a Kill Team or Legion style game!
I preordered. It looks like it’s built on Deadzone and the “no rulers only maps” movement and targeting is something i fell in love with when I ran into it with “Injurius Games” by Red Shirt Games decades ago. It is a good IP to pique peoples’ interest and then introduce them to miniatures wargaming
I demo'd it at adepticon, loved how simple and quick it is. I ordered the Spartan Edition already and was one of the lucky ones to get the free Master Chief with Energy Sword model. I'm very much looking forward to play with friends and my nephews.
Hey, been a long time sub and excited to see you cover mantic games. Haven't been watching as many of your videos lately because i play different games. Would definitely tune in for all things mantic, including halo. You should check out deadzone. The rules of halo will be an expansion of those rules.
For what you get the price point seems low, considering what Shatterpoint goes for. Thanks to you being so enthusiastic about your review I went ahead and grabbed the Spartan Edition. Looking forward to trying it out! Hopefully it’s simple enough for my kids, as part of my campaign to pull them away from electronic games. I do like how the minis are pre colored, I always feel like I have to paint grey minis before playing, but with red and blue present we can get the game on the table, until I paint them to look like RvB characters.
I may be biased, but I do wish it was more in the Halo Wars / Reach art style. I certainly don't mind a lower model count game, but Halo could easily be on the same scale as Legion or larger. I do like to see games like this or Shatterpoint where you don't have to convince your friend to spend $1,000 on an army and get a Phd to understand the rule book just to play with you.
There was once a mass battle halo wars type game called Halo Ground Command, but it didn’t sell great. I think it’s discontinued, same as Halo Fleet Battles. Halo IP has had a rough time translating to tabletop miniatures games. Hoping this succeeded though!!
It’s ultimately a different game play option for Deadzone. Deadzone is definitely one of the most fun and easy to pick up skirmish games I’ve ever touched. There is enough random events to keep the quick play style even more interesting. The terrain set is one of the terrain crate sets. I’m excited at the possibility of the new terrain in this box though and the potential of it moving forward. This is a rabbit hole you will definitely enjoy going down. 🍻
I know I am very excited for this game! I love Halo and unfortunately I didn't get into the tabletop scene until after Halo fleet battles or Ground command were cancelled when Spartan Games went under but I will not miss this one! I already preordered my own lot of goodies from mantic. Really looking forward to it.
Me and a bunch of lads I used to work with use to drop LAN cables out our windows for some gory 4x4 Halo session on base!! Halo Flashpoint looks super interesting... reminds me alot of the Apex Legends game
Always been a huge Halo fan! This definitely gots me intrigued, though I’m still really wanting a 40k/Legion type Halo miniatures game in the Halo Wars era. I guess there wouldn’t be a huge amount of miniature content compared to most genres but would still be awesome!
This game reminded me of the really old Halo Actionclix game that I played back in 2009. It is cool that it will feel like multiplayer Halo, and I am all for that. I am hoping if it is successful enough, we might even see other covenant, flood, and ODST.
On the ranged energy sword it looks like it might say lunge on the bottom of the card. So, as you say, looks like you can fling yourself at an enemy with thet. Which is great😁
I am very excited for this. I hope they sell some game based fireteams as I need NOBLE team! My LGS has the Spartan edition and the plastic terrain kit on preorder for me.
My only real complaint is that it's spartan vs spartan as the basic box, sure you can get a squad of banished, but like, it's a shame there isn't a 2 squad spartan vs 2 squad elite starter set, I don't necessarily even think you need to make the stats different, just the visual variety would be better, but if they wanted it both ways, you can have 2 types of play, multi-player, and campaign based, MP would be both sides are just spartans and reskin, campaign would be the different factions and rules and etc.
@@Crabbok I mean elite vs spartan is something that a lot of people do want to bring back, and to me was more interesting then spartan vs spartan, even if it did mean they could add a lot more cosmetics to mix and match with rather then having 2 guys to drip out
good news, Banished are confirmed to be coming as a faction and they said at Adepticon theres "Comfortably 5 factions" potentially! @@calebbarnhouse496
Like the look of this., although I’m primarily a solo player.. If there was a firefight/horde mode - bit like Aliens : AGDitC… as that was the only “online” mode that that I liked..
Miniatures look amazing but I would definitely want full armies and not just spartan on Spartan fighting. Once they add UNSC, covenant and banished (and the flood) I think I will get it.
The minis looks wonderful and I'm excited to get my hands on that terrain...but dear god the graphics on those cards are ROUGH. Clip art on a blank white background??? I really hope that's a preproduction copy because yikes, at least throw a generic sci-fi background on those.
I definitely wanted it to be more like Legion or 40K or even the discontinued Halo Ground Command, but hopefully this is a step towards that direction. I'm definitely interested.

As a Veteran Deadzone player (the system of which this is based) I think people are really gonna love this game. Then hopefully checkout Deadzone and Firefight as well afterwards.
This has kind of exploded, loads of people in my local group talking about it and I've preordered. Mantic deserve a big hit, they are great.
