1st lambs of 2023 to market. It's great to get some lambs sold to pay a few bills that are over due,
we also weaned the sheep to these lambs and what ever was left in this group.
Hope you enjoy it 👍
Glyn
I here in the USA and only run about 65 ewes and I do it all out of an old hip roof barn, I jealous of you all facilities. I really enjoy your info. And I really enjoy watching you and your pops. 👍👍
Thanks alot, appreciated the comment and glad you enjoyed the video
Well Glyn, Thanks for the shout out...👌 Best of luck, chat soon
First like. 🙏💜 Thank you so much.
You're the best!
As always fantastic insight. Bloody hard work! Glad you got a decent price for the lambs. Hopefully continue for the rest of the year. Thank You.
I hope to god otherwise we'll be in trouble 🙈🙈 thanks for the comment. Appreciate it 👍
Great video lads and great lambs 👌
Cheers Garry. Appreciate the comment
👌
There's a hughe amount of sheep surely some bit of profit but hugh amount of work
Tough to understand you, specially being from wales. But now getting to grips with your accent and your videos are great 👍 keep up the good work. Your dad's a legend
😂😂 That's why I put up some subtitles but takes ages 😂😂 you'll have to really focus 👍👍
Love your videos keep up the good work 🤩👍👍
Thanks Aidan 👍👍 appreciate the comment
If you want to get rid of rats and mice put up nesting boxes
Great video
Cheers. Thanks a lot. Glad you enjoyed it
Nice looking lambs great that you showed the mart as well
Enjoyed the video
Cheers John, thanks for always having something good to say 👍👍
@@sheepshepherd 👍
Well we're that mart
Cork
Re the rats if you put up one or two nesting boxes in view of the river and yard then owls will nest there and solve any rodent issues. Nothing catches them like owls and all done at night. Clean out the boxes every year.
Thanks a lot. I will look into that. Is there owls around still. Dont see many of them lately
😂
Great video.. lovely lambs. We’re they the creep feed lambs? Keep up the good work👍🏻
Cheers . Ya they were, they were all twins.
Fair enough price always up and down keep picking few and have as much gone before the marts get really packed 👍👍i used to sell in few big lots every year till 2 year ago now bring 50 ish every week or 2 as there coming up in weight every few euro counts sold 39 kg ram lambs 3 weeks ago at 112 last week same type lamb 38kg 105 thats around 350 difference but my luck if i sold them the first day be on be making 100 a piece ya cant win 🤣
No can't win luck of the draw. But you're right, I should bring be bringing them away in over the next few weeks
Lambs are looking well I loved the way you showed them in the mart aswell they got a good price on the day
Ya cheers. They didn't do too bad at all, hopefully more to follow that in the next few weeks
Interesting video of taking the Sheep to market. I guess they really scared to enter those stock trailers being a small contained space. Seems like you get a real workout just loading the sheep in your trailer.
Ya they are afraid to enter trailers, and ya its a good workout as you have to result lift them in. We put straw in for extra comfort
The language is english x3 +1
Clicked the video for the familiar mart 😂 only ever was at sheep sale once though
Very good. Where are ya from kieran
@@sheepshepherdfew miles west of macroom so always was the mart to go to. Saturdays suited too
Fair play the lambs are flying
Cheers, There not too bad
Lambs looked heavier. Are they weighed entering the mart or entering the ring? Seen grass lambs lose up to 5/6 kg when weighed early morning compared to late evening
Weighted entering the ring so there is a bit of a wait.
3:39 could the lambs dirty bums be parasite over worms? coccidiosis in older creep fed lambs is quite common after fertile wet grass ❤
I was thinking perhaps giving a bigger than stated dose of cobalt, not a good plan. That may be the dirty bum issue.
No highly doubtful thats the issue, only started really in the last week as we have had constant rain
Also check scales with a bag of meal or coal
Ya very good point, I'll do that today
Was there an issue with your scales?
Either mine or there's😂😂🙈
Things are so different in selling lambs from there to here
Hi Helen
Is that so, where are you from?
Was not year after foot and mouth 2002 i think brought in tags
Could of been noel. I don't remember to be honest
Not a bad price on a full load
Ya tbf, it wasn't too bad. It will only get worse from now on
You dont like kenmare mart ? Would macroom be better ?
I go to both, just depends on the week really
You made a sheep dog of that lab ay?
I sure have, Charlie is a super dog for sheep😅
@@sheepshepherd those goofs do want to please, but I never thought I’d see one that learned sheep. I guess either he’s special, or you could make a sheep dog out of anything
@@swamp-yankeeya he's special tbf👍
Are you aloud to sell lambs private
Ya Helen, I sell a lot of lambs at home every year, works out good some times
@@sheepshepherddo ya have any harvested for customers tables?
@@swamp-yankee no we don't do it anymore. Cheaper to buy it now 😂
@@sheepshepherd we sure have different markets. For me selling a sheep at auction would be taking a massive hit compared to wrapped and frozen or a private sale. I’m in dairy cattle country. Not much of a sheep trade, but there’s loads of ready to eat lamb customers. Sheep have a bad reputation.
@@swamp-yankee ya everyone here sells through the mart, most butchers here have their own lamb source, and most lamb in Ireland is exported so it is what it is really
Do ya find a Discrepancy between your scales and the marts. Big difference and the lambs wouldn’t have loss that much kg’s in transport maybe 2-4 kg .
Not sure now, I'll check mine later to see if its weighting properly. I hope their isn't s difference tbh
@@sheepshepherd could be another prime time show “Marts scales ⚖️ robbing farms 😂😂😂😂
@@RONAN3790 😂😂😂
@@RONAN3790I’m sure it’s been done
To factory i told you to go i sold 40kgs last tue in kildare average kill out 17.5 dead wei and made 126
There back from last week, take 5 euro a head for transport from Kerry, some lambs were only 37 kgs. Wouldn't be worth it
I thought myself they make between €110 and €120 I'd love to be killing them lambs they be so soft and easy to skin
Ya trade is back abit, I'd love to be getting 120😅
@sheepshepherd I gave €125 per head last week in fermoy mart and they were average 48 to 50 kg
@@TommySan1234 I didn't do too bad so as I'd have them for a long time before they would get to that weight
