I am a recent RCIA converted Catholic in Japan on a military base and 67 years old. I have come to the conclusion on my own that there is nothing more reverent or more sacred that the receiving Communion on the tongue, at the altar, while kneeling. Yet this is difficult and not available in the military chapels. Fortunately, my priest honors my wishes, and my communion is delivered on my tongue. Even still, I see something better. I want more. I yearn for the Latin mass. I want the mass the way it was before Vatican II. I believe there is a deliberate, concerted effort to reduce the sanctity of the mass to the point it is no better than a lukewarm protestant service - of which I attended for 60 years and nearly destroyed my salvation. So, now I pray for the Pope and those who are bringing about unwanted changes. I cling to the original scripture, unaltered deposit of faith, and the holy magisterium. There is a better way. May God purge the Catholic church and have mercy on the souls of those would seek to bring this down, desecrate it, or alter it in anyway.

When María Simma was alive, Communion in the hand had not happened yet. So how is it that a soul told her that it should not be happening? I just want to understand. No one has yet explained why taking Communion in the hand is disrespectful. No one. This doesn't help educate people, if there's something to be educated about. What's your opinion in regards to why it is disrespectful to receive Communion in the hand, when Jesus himself broke bread and gave it on the hands. Please don't tell me that it's a matter of cleanliness, because nothing has more germs than the human mouth; in fact, a human bite is more infectious than a dog bite. I just want to know your perspective.

You are so right. We are in Ohio. Every time we would get a new Pastor for our Church my husband would ask if we could have Latin Mass and everytime he was told..No! We are under a new Priest now for about 3 years. Within the first few months he was here, my husband asked him if we would have Latin Mass and he said YES!! Praise be to God. We are so thankful for all the sacrifices and prayers that all our brothers and sisters in Christ have offered for us so that we could receive this great gift! Please pray for us as they are putting in Confessional and beautiful statues and helping our Church look like it us Catholic again. Father is planning to put a communion rail at our Downtown Church that Latin Mass is held at and we have a group of Altar boys dedicated to St. John Vianney!! I will pray for you to be Blessed and that you will continue to grow in God's grace! 😊

@@nena200able We are unworthy to touch our Lord. There have been great atrocities done against Jesus in the Eucharistic. It also takes away from His Real Presence. Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. There are particles that fall upon the floor that we then step on. Amazingly every particle is completely Jesus. There have also been Hosts stolen by Satanists because they know that Jesus is truly there, their leader what's to destroy and desecrate all that is Holy. It is an attack on Holy Mother Church! There are no good fruits that have come from it only disbelief and confusion. Through exorcisms it has been revealed that the demons laugh as "we receive Him in our paw! "

@@tabandken8562 The "sign of peace" is generally called the "kiss of peace," or in Latin, simply, the "pax" (pronounced like the English "pox.") In the traditional rite it is given by the priest to the Deacon at solemn Mass. Although called a "kiss," it is really more of an arms length embrace. The priest says, "peace be with thee," and the deacon responds, "and with thy spirit." The deacon then passes this gesture on to the subdeacon, and in turn to the other clergy. The pax may also be given to a crowned head of state. Bishops and princes occasionally receive the pax at low Mass

It is necessary to renew my strength, so that I will not stop along the way and for that, I need You. It is getting late and death approaches. Justin Martyr tells us the deacons distributed in the hand. Receiving communion in the hand was the common practice of the Church in both East and West for the first 800 years of Christianity, and it was certainly considered reverent by the Fathers.
In North Africa (including Egypt) the practice is mentioned by Tertullian, Cyprian, Augustine, Cyril of Alexandria, and John Climacus. In Jerusalem, we have the mystagogical catecheses of Cyril of Jerusalem.
In Syria by Basil the Great, John Chrysostom, Theodore of Mopsuestia, John Damascene and the Council of Constantinople in Trullo (also called the Quinisext council). In East Syria we have evidence from Ephrem the Syrian and Narsai. In the far-flung regions of the empire-Gaul (modern-day France and Spain) we have the witness of Caesarius of Arles and the council of Auxerre, and in England, we have the Venerable Bede.

These things don't distract from Christ, they're of Christ. Do people do more than they should? Yes they do. That's what the priests should address. The people did the kiss of peace in the early Church. Perhaps we should go back to that.

    • @ntlearning
      @ntlearning Год назад

@@tabandken8562 The early Church, as guided by the Church Fathers, had a profound understanding of these concepts, perhaps even more so than some modern interpretations.
The kiss of peace, as practiced in the early Church, was not just a ritualistic gesture; it was a profound demonstration of reconciliation, forgiveness, and genuine love among believers. This practice was deeply rooted in the understanding that one must approach the Eucharist with a heart free from animosity or unresolved conflict. The gravity of receiving the Eucharist in an unworthy manner was well understood, as highlighted by the betrayal of Judas, who kissed Christ as a sign of betrayal.
In contrast, the practice of hand holding during the Our Father, while meaningful in its own right, does not carry the same depth of personal reconciliation that the kiss of peace embodies. Hand holding can be a beautiful sign of unity and communal prayer, but it doesn't necessarily require the same level of personal reconciliation and introspection that the kiss of peace demands. The act of kissing in peace was a direct and personal acknowledgment of reconciliation, making it a more fitting preparation for receiving the Eucharist.
Therefore, while hand holding during the Our Father is a valuable practice in many Christian communities, suggesting that it has the same depth and significance as the kiss of peace might overlook the historical and theological richness of the latter. The early Church's practices, as informed by the Church Fathers, were deeply intentional and carried profound spiritual significance, particularly in preparing the faithful to receive the Eucharist in a worthy manner.

Joe, clearly, the Apostles are like Bishops(New Priest) not lay people. They are consecrated and ordained to go out and share the Good News to other by baptizing, healing, reconciliation and etc. As you can see Jesus started the structure church by breaking the Bread and gave to his Apostle who was with him for three year of what they learned from Him. It passed on to new Bishop who was ordained by the Apostles. It is the authority of Jesus given to the Apostles, this is why Jesus is the head of the Catholic Church and the pope is the vicar of Christ on earth. First few centuries, they learned communion on the hand in complete reverence became vulnerable because how it got stolen for abuse and losing it reverence. The communion on the tongue is the standard of Catholic Church for centuries until 1968 when Netherland and Belgium Bishops started doing communion in the hands which Pope Paul XI told them to stop it but they didn't which led to indult by Pope Paul XI to only to those countries then it spread to whole world. Now we have serious problem with the abuse of the host found toilets, in missalette books, black masses, drop on the floor, and etc. from communion in the hands. My belief is what receiving Holy Communion is obliviates the judgements we make on one another whether you take it by your hand or on the tongue. I am a Sacristen in the Church and take care of the Altar, prepare everything for Mass ETC., I have seen first hand the carelesness of the Priests during the Consercration and giving Communion. The amount of Particles left on the Altar is mind blowing.I too love Communion on the tounge but recieve it on the hand to help prevent """as much as I can""" from Particles falling on the floor, because the Patten under the chin is no longer practiced . Our Church and Priests have so much to answer for and it breaks my heart. One Priest even allows a man to take it back to his seat and POPS (yes POPS) it in his mouth like you would a lolly.

In the hand is sacrilege and will always result in more particles lost than simply receiving on the tongue. Whether there is a patent under the chin or not is irrelevant. Don't ever, ever receive in the hand, and preferably find a church where that is not the practice. Upon further reflection I’ve realized what was bothering me about the sign of peace is that people continue to try to shake hands, and wave at everyone in the pews, taking what should be a simple gesture of peace to your neighbor to far by carrying on just as the video suggests by potentially taking peoples mind off the Eucharistic celebration (even if it’s for a brief moment)
I’ve noticed people continue to talk, and offer the sign of peace even when the choir starts to sing the “Lamb of GOD” (Agnus DEI)
Which reigns everyone in before the final invocation, and Communion.

The sign of peace NOR the recitation of the Our Father is done AFTER the consecration it is done BEFORE, the consecration at least this is how it is done in MONTANA , AMERICA, I have noticed most people receive communion on the hand but, receiving on the tongue is also received. holding hands at prayer or shaking hands at sign of peace is popular with most but, it is optional some choose to smile and nod. I don't see why any of these things could be considered disrespectful, God wants us to acknowledge and love one another as long as it is respectful and in good taste. Just my opinion of course.

Yes, that is the point, that it is done after the Consecration. Jesus is present and the Sign of Peace (with a lot of distraction) happens right before Jesus. The Our Father prayer is not disrespectful--no one said that, myself included. It is simply pointing out that the hand holding is what can make it distracting for many. I'm not sure why people feel they need to hold hands to pray? Why can't we go deeper into ourselves and simply fold our own hands? Just wondering. Maria points out a lot of good thoughts here, and supposedly these come from the Purgatory souls themselves. It is simply something to think about, no one should feel threatened or angry.
