Good Morning Daniel, I very much enjoyed this duet. A lovely treatment of a tune that can become a bit "passe" if care is not taken. I like the little historical background notes on the origin of the tune as well. The King Henry story is one that is always rolled out whenever this is played and has taken on a life of it's own now. I guess we will never know who wrote this but I don't think Henry VIII did. You seem to be enjoying being the custodian of the Archlute. This piece shows it of well so thanks for posting it. Anne and I are slowly improving and today is our "official" release date from isolation but we do not really have the energy to do much. It certainly knocks one back a bit. So a quick note to all of Dan's dedicated viewers, Folks please take care not to get this bug. It really is unpleasant All of you you Keep safe and Dan, will you please keep playing and keeping us entertained. Clive
Greensleeves has been one of my favourite melodies since hearing Vaughn Williams' Fantasia as a toddler (my mother used to tell how I insisted she put the record on or I wouldn't go to sleep) fifty-odd years ago. I especially liked this rendition showing off the range and sonority of the archlute. And of course, your playing was sublime too!
Bravo. I like it that you preserved the "original" tune and variations---while making your own arrangements for two lutes. Thank you for your artistry and hardwork. All the best.
My girlfriend came back to town after moving away to visit, for the prom. But in the days before hand, I came across this video, and was completely moved by it. So I learned how to play Greensleves on my guitar (completely huge genre change to what I normally play) and played it for her. Added some of my own personal lyrics to it too. She loved it. So all I must say, is thank you, sir. And keep it up!!
Greensleeves has always been one of my favorites since my very young childhood. With these extremely emotional times this has been a slave on raw nerves.
Hi there, I discovered ur music around 2.5 years ago when I was pregnant with my baby. I had never heard greensleeves before. I absolutely fell in love with it and heard this version on repeat so many many times. Now that baby is about to turn 2 on 3/14. She absolutely loves this version too. She says "mama play greensleeves" and twirls to it :). Wants to hear it on repeat too. thank you for playing beautiful music. Love lots of ur other videos. Have a great day

Used to accompany a flutist on these variations on guitar. Your arrangement is very inspiring, so fascinating how the parts are woven with each other with these so similar sounding instruments. Like your tempo, your obvious joy of playing, and the sonorous archlute's basses.
I am so very happy that these instruments have withstood the test of time and that there are people like you who have mastered their intricacies, I must thank you for the chance to hear these beautiful strings work their magic. Truly beautiful masterpiece! Perfectly fits the original style of Greensleeves. Have you thought of creating your own piece for lute in a renaissance style?

Who is the maker of your archlute? I'm trying to get a good comparison of the different brands
it was made by Dan Larson in Duluth, MN USA
I’m curious: Did you do the arrangement with two lutes yourself?
the flute (recorder) part is played as written on renaissance lute. I added quite a few bass notes to the archlute part (guitar)
