$420K sticker price for a 488 is just plain stupid. especially a outgoing model. Could've got the newer 812 superfast with a v12 engine for that price.
Wow! what an absolutely beautiful spec. I love the inside...the leather is very handsome. The blue exterior is stunning too. It must have been a very fun day Nick. You got to enjoy driving a $400K+ Ferrari and when you turn the keys back to Dan...you get to drive your very own Porsche. Not a bad life I'd say. That's called clean living ! (Mike in Ohio)
That DRS feature has nothing to do with the brakes. All it does is decrease the volume of the diffuser (which in itself is very efficient at generating downforce) and as such decrease the drag generated hence the "Drag Reduction System"
Also agree something is wrong. That car has crap options... no carbon seats, no carbon interior, nope... it’s definitely not what I would call good spec at all...
@@willshepherd8869 its Blu Pozzi its for sure not 100k paint hehehehe, its same as normal rosso price. Also this car he show don't even have JBL speakers and very bad spec no carbon no carbon seats +++
The paint job on this car could you get into a base 911? Jesus.... that’s just ludicrous. I don’t care how rich you are, that’s a waste of money. That stated, the color is stunning. The interior is also perfect - sort of a London tan
Quick JAW you realize if you went to colour match in a shop your car is worth nothing after right? People think you are hiding an accident(s). Very few do it just because they can. If options were between colour matching at a shop versus paying 100k on the paint, I'd choose the latter..Good thing there are other options too.
ZDY everyone knows that once u respray a car to hide dings etc it loses value, I'm saying why does it cost Ferrari 100k and a body shop 3k for the same color
For those wondering about the expensive paint. It is to get a better chance to stand out to Ferrari when they consider you for a limited production car allocation. Basically you need to buy highly optioned cars the dealer suggests. To possibly qualify for a F12 TDF you needed to have a California T and a FF leased or financed which you would lose a lot of money on in order to be considered for the limited production car almost guaranteed to make the money back.
Who knew the kid from Sixteen Candles would have a 488 someday...Jake Ryan's 944 has nothing on this badboy...he might have a chance with Samantha now...
Lovely to see you again Nick ❤️this interior makes you look like a superstar ❤️488 for a Golf, hmm, what a nice trade. Clearly, I must be doing something wrong xx
Well executed video. Thinking of making the move from 458 to the 488 and this may have pushed me over the edge. Still hesitant because I love the sound of the naturally aspirated 458. Again, good job on the video. Enjoy your fine Porsche and beautiful house!
100k for paint? Honestly, it is shit like that that makes me never want to buy a Ferrari. I don't care how you justify it, there is no way a paint job can possibly cost that much. I'll stick with my 911, a complete car, for the price of that paint...jeez
Yes, how dare Ferrari offer an expensive paint that absolutely none of their customers have to buy.. It's outrageous! Also, Porsche is one of the absolute worst when it comes to option costs so I don't know why you'd go there.. Didn't they offer a $65k paint for the 918 for example? Maybe $70k is your limit when it comes to acceptable price points for paint jobs you never have to get when you go shopping for a new car..
My problem is that it is even an option, being stuck up enough to actually believe that you are offering 100k worth of paint. I suppose in the end the real idiot is the customer who selects that option. 100k for a solid colour paint job is indefensible , I would expect to have a commissioned mural on my car for that much. And yes, Porsche is nuts for options, but I can't think of a singular option on one of their regular production vehicles (not a halo car) that even comes close to this
It is a bit stuck up and the price is ridiculous, I completely agree. But the only reason they offer it at that price is because they can, and the fact that people tick that option shows that it was a great decision by Ferrari to do so. They run a business after all, and as long as customers are stupid/passionate/'insert your own word' enough to pay for it they are going to continue doing it. I just find it weird to blame Ferrari when it's the customers who decide what color their car should be in the end. For example I wouldn't stop buying $100 Nike shoes just because they happened to offer a "super exclusive" shoe for $10k. It doesn't affect the shoes I buy in any way.
LOL, u do realise there is also regular paint that cost less right? nobody is FORCING u to pay 100k for the paint unless u want to.and also coming from a porsche owner??? are u fking serious bro???
My 2018 GTS msrp was $375K with Rosso Corsa paint...I think it has almost every option (other than the CF racing seats which I did not want)....personally I just can't own a Ferrari unless it is red. I hope to get my next one in Rosso Scuderia.
I thought you were thing to match the level of swagger given off by the car by having your chest showing... then I realized it was the seatbelt. Also you were going 10 mph at 8,000 rpm? You have some explaining to do.
Don't let that 488 run into a 720S. LOL. How on God's earth is a paint job $100,000? I know Ferrari are masters at gouging people but this is impressive, even for them. There's not a new 911 worth of paint of that car.
+Rauber, I collect, well used to collect high end watches, still have some, and comparing paint to a high end watch is utterly ridiculous. It's paint and doesn't looks particularly special, it doesn't have complications, exotic materials or gem stones, or tourbillons, or is limited in production, it's paint. You need to work on your analogies. LOL
Not true about the $100k paint job. I quoted one of the rarest Ferrari colors at my dealership, and the color option (Tiffany Blue) costs $40k, which is one of the most expensive paint options at Ferrari.
Damn what’s does Dan do for a living? He seems fairly young and has possibly the most expensive Ferrari 488 Spyder and has a $20,000 watch on? Props to him, he’s killing it!
Saw a 458 in the street the other day, a red one. Saw a white one last year. Not sure of year of production. Made me feel less of a man each time as I know I can never comfortably afford one unless I sacrifice a lot.
A 100k paint job might be expensive but it might be a good investment? Since not many people would choose that option, only a handful will and therefore will be limited edition. Which for a Ferrari will gain a few hundred thousand bucks to a million. Which is a great roi
Need to check you facts. Many of the points you mention were available when launched. Also check the invoice. You might find that the paint job didnt cost 100k
The drag race was too close to call. The price is pretty much the same. I guess the rear wiper has to be the tie breaker, so the Porsche just clinches this one. But once Ferrari figures that feature out it’s hard to tell how the next comparo could go. Time for Stuttgart to worry? Or would an enhanced dog shelf with integrated food dish be enough to keep Porsche on top?
I love the 488, purists be damned. I love the way it sounds and the boost in fuel economy alone is worth the concession. However, as gorgeous as that color is, I'd leave the box for $100k paint job unchecked....I mean, seriously? Great video, Nick, as always!
5:53 Ferrari 466
Always a typo or two somewhere in my videos
statesidesupercars Proof u were watching the video or a prelude of an upcoming typo in the BMW 488 video.
Do you never check before you finalize and upload? Its sacrilege to incorrectly name a car that good lol
Do you never check before you finalize and upload? Its sacrilege to incorrectly name a car that good lol
He spoke about dyslexia I think it was. He misses them
Nick, which is worse: Ferrari charging $100,000 for paint or the chump that pays that for the paint?
chump for sure
could just get a wrap
If you've got eff you money, might as well pay eff you money I guess
The Chump that actually bought his car, pure money pit ..owning is like renting with the cost of maintenance ....
It's like saying a guy who pays to go to the moon is a waste of money because he could afford the trip. smh
I’ll assume that paint is made from truffles and saffron
Ferrari can be any color, as long as it’s red.
golfbuddy1969 I prefer Black
Yellow
Nick, your production value just keeps getting better and better! Love the interaction between you two drivers--it makes the drag race more engaging.
100 k for paint. The owner needs a sit down. He has clearly lost he's mind
or disqusting rich haha
I have lost my mind. Send help!
Guessing from the fact he looks about 20 he probably has no concept of how much money $100,000 actually is to a regular person.
Matthew Sharpe some day he will..and then he will regret that paint.
I know what $100k is worth. I can afford to spend it on paint so I don't see why I shouldn't have.
$420K sticker price for a 488 is just plain stupid. especially a outgoing model.
Could've got the newer 812 superfast with a v12 engine for that price.

My FAVORITE! Got to drive one around the Ferrari factory in Maranello earlier this year. Absolutely amazing car and experience.
Thats 10K USD paint job not 100k USD, I know Ferrari good. They misinformed you
RS do you happen to know the actual name of this color? The name he provided in the video didn't seem to match on the website either. Thanks!
Also agree something is wrong. That car has crap options... no carbon seats, no carbon interior, nope... it’s definitely not what I would call good spec at all...

Yeah right, just wrap your car the same colour
Facts, Any body shop could color match that paint easily lol but hey some people will still pay 100k for it lol
Quick JAW you realize if you went to colour match in a shop your car is worth nothing after right? People think you are hiding an accident(s). Very few do it just because they can. Because there's people out there with either too much money to burn or stupid enough to buy shit like that.
That Formula 1 brake lamp tho.... Nick you’re so fing cool got a friends with super cars! Thanks for sharing!

Your friend looks like the kinda guy that sells weed for a living...
Jarl Ballin' If this guy is selling weed he's nation wide....
what does his friend do?
😂😂😂
400k that a Rain forest of weed
The owner looks like the type of guy who would make a RUclips video titled "I'M WRAPPING MY $100K PAINTJOB!!!"
Who knew the kid from Sixteen Candles would have a 488 someday...Jake Ryan's 944 has nothing on this badboy...he might have a chance with Samantha now...
Didn’t he have a Mondial Spyder in Weird Science?
Nice touch adding the animal charities Nick 👍🏼👍🏼
Lovely to see you again Nick ❤️this interior makes you look like a superstar ❤️488 for a Golf, hmm, what a nice trade. Clearly, I must be doing something wrong xx
Ferrari 466? That's a new model :D
lmao I was gonna say the same thing.
Always a typo or two somewhere in my videos!
Nick Murray you can do no wrong in my eyes brother
“Never underestimate the power of the rear” - Nick Murray
5:53 Ferrari 466 - Nick getting a sneak preview of a new, unannounced model!
Always a typo or two somewhere in my videos!
tfw you realize Nick isn't driving bare chested and it's just the tan seatbelt
Keksi the Labrador
I also thought he opened his shirt to the navel because he was driving a Ferrari. Where's the gold chain?
I thought the same for a few seconds, how great would that be.
Took me a minute as well
Very surprising that the owner has not chosen carbon all over the interior, just the steering wheel
Hey but at least he has the $100k Paint job!
Thanks for making and sharing this video. Love the engine sound you captured.
Thank you for supporting animal welfare.
Well executed video. Thinking of making the move from 458 to the 488 and this may have pushed me over the edge. Still hesitant because I love the sound of the naturally aspirated 458. Again, good job on the video. Enjoy your fine Porsche and beautiful house!
Upgrade to a GT2RS and the liquid metal paint from the 918 costs at Porsche only ca. 40k.
Great content Nick.and what a spec on that 488...If u dnt mind me asking what does Dan do for a living?
He is a son... pretty hard gig and he worked very hard to pop out of that particular vajayjay
If its Dan Lesin, he's in jail now for federal wire fraud Ferrari related ironically enough.
Stunning interior. Like the blue outside but does not look 100k to me. I find that price insane.
Stunning spec - he doesn’t even look old enough to drive - I wonder how many times he’ll get pulled ‘for stealing his dads car’ 😂😂
Awesome video, awesome car. Congrats to the owner on that one, the color seems really special.
9:23 That’s not active brake cooling, it’s part of the active aerodynamics. It’s a DRS system like what they use in formula 1.
That is Very Close to PPG 520 Blu Pozzi, are you sure it's not that color? (Big fan of Blu Pozzi Ferraris)
With that paint job, hopefully it has PPF installed 😳
With the price of that paint, hopefully it has double layer PPF installed. lol
HAHA - Miller Motorcars...used to go there all the time when I was a kid...my Dad bought a Boxer from them. 512 BB.
Is it allready broken in? Brilliant! Very nice video 👍
Hello Nick from Johannesburg South Africa, I've been subscribed for over a year now. Great vids, great personality
Nick, is it fair to assume you used the Golf because your mate with can’t drive a stick?
Nick dear man a pleasure as always.
Great vid Nick! Love your content. 5:54 says "Ferrari 466" xD
A 911 and a 488 ... now that’s a very nice 2 car garage 👍
Dan looks like he is about 16 years old. Impressive feat for him to acquire a Ferrari around the same time as his DL...
100k for paint? Honestly, it is shit like that that makes me never want to buy a Ferrari. I don't care how you justify it, there is no way a paint job can possibly cost that much. I'll stick with my 911, a complete car, for the price of that paint...jeez

Is that "Jake" from the Doug Dumoro video when he reviewed the California about a year ago?
For a second thought it's Deadmau5...
Nicks review is so good. Every car he recommends I want one.
I think you ve reach the top of the nirvana mountain my friend, very nice very very nice . Cheer ! SoulDave
Great review, but would have liked to see the passenger electronic screen
Press that bumpy road button already, matey!

the speed difference between by all accounts a very fast car and the 488 is just mind blowing
Was your friend on track in June 1st? I saw a similar 488 right nearby my C4S.
Nice one! I was surprised to hear that the 458 is skittish and bangs into gears (considering it has a dual clutch), but I haven't driven one yet so..
Suits you. Really does. Writing from the Isles of Scilly (Off Cornish Coast).
Your Microphones really capture that engine note!!!!!!!!!!
Do your neighbors think you’re a drug dealer with all these nice cars in your driveway?
I am a drug dealer
always convenient to have a supply located in the neighborhood!

venom5809 Same as why some Patek watches are 150.000k when a A. Lange die 60k has better finish&movement: status
great point, ferrari is in its own league.
Imagine driving that without PPF.. every stone chip is a couple hundred bucks
+Rauber, I collect, well used to collect high end watches, still have some, and comparing paint to a high end watch is utterly ridiculous. Mo-hammad Abunaser a pen of touch up paint is probably $2k. Crazy
Looks like you and Mark Zuckerberg had a great time! :P

Gr8 video Nick, but with only 200+ mls on the Clock, revving to 6grand is okay??
Are you sure your “friend” isn’t a Valet driver?
Kid just got arrested by the FBI for wire fraud. Scam artist POS
Damn what’s does Dan do for a living? He seems fairly young and has possibly the most expensive Ferrari 488 Spyder and has a $20,000 watch on? Props to him, he’s killing it!
Did he pass judgement? I must have missed his other comment, because it's not in this one. What I read here is a compliment to the man's success.
Kid just got arrested by the FBI for wire fraud. Scam artist POS
I assume that with a 100k paint job you won’t take the car to Walmart on Saturday pm...
Saw a 458 in the street the other day, a red one. Saw a white one last year. Not sure of year of production. Made me feel less of a man each time as I know I can never comfortably afford one unless I sacrifice a lot.
Didn't look that impressive going 11mph...
PS - That spec is awesome!!! OMG...
You will have to update your contacts , now it´s DEN 488 . Don't know why but I'm an ULTRA FAN of the Blu .
Gorgeous spec bro, love it
Hey Nick, what does justify this huge premium for this color? From the video, I cannot seem to see why it would be that expensive.
Nick what does your friend do for a living if you don’t mind me asking?
sells meth
Is that a Giant Tic next to the condensation on the turn indicator????
Pretty crazy caliber car, Nick, I would be scared to drive it.
A 100k paint job might be expensive but it might be a good investment? Since not many people would choose that option, only a handful will and therefore will be limited edition. Which for a Ferrari will gain a few hundred thousand bucks to a million. Which is a great roi
Yes it will only lose 60% in 5 years instead of 68% - awesome investment no wonder he can afford this car SMH FML
Need to check you facts. Many of the points you mention were available when launched. Also check the invoice. You might find that the paint job didnt cost 100k

An excellent Kiwi review
Was the shallow depth of field in the interior shots deliberate?
Such a classy spec
Ferrari 488 spider is a thing of beauty cool car.
Hey Nick, what camara were you using inside with nice dof?
HardwareFreak1 Canon 6DII with 20mm 1.4 Art lens
Pro tip: Skip the flesh-coloured seat belts when you spec your Ferrari build.
On Ferrari website and configurator it's a 10K fee for the paint not the 100 K
That acceleration is ridonculous
911 pitter pattering along
Was that a tick hanging out near the turn single? Is that a warranty issue?
Did you say active brake cooling called DRS or something? If so then, should you be reviewing cars?
Out the box gorgeous car. congratulations man..!!
Thanks Nick. Excellent. I love that spec car. What? No engine shot, oh well.
Notice I didn’t mention the 466 graphic ;-)
those are the coolest seats!!!
Surely the $100k price tag for a dark paint job is to dissuade everyone from choosing that colour? Someone explain this please!
First one in the US! Good for you Nick.
What About Sat Nav and Heads Up Display?
Nick, you are full of it... I have a 458 and I get almost 20 on the highway.
3:45 200 miles and exhaust chrome tips are already burnt.
Is that the Blu Swaters color?
Nick, can I get the 100 grand paint job on other Fiats?
Nick, since the car only has 200 miles on the clock, don't you need to "break in" the engine before you redline it??
Nah it has 7 years warranty - thrash it hard from day dot
NO PET on background! (Y) Great video!
Why didn't you let him drive your c4s?
