An American in London: Our final full day. Abbey Rd, my first chippy, museums, St. James park

- Today was our last full day in London. We will miss being here terribly! After breakfast we hopped on the tube and went to Portobello Market in Notting Hill. That is where I tried Poppies Fish and Chips. I believe it’s a chippy but I’m a bit confused whether it’s a real chippy or a restaurant. Regardless we thought the cod was great and the sticky toffee pudding AMAZING!!! We crossed the zebra crossing at Abbey Road, saw the recording studio of the Beatles then hopped back on the tube to visit some museums… the Natural History Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum. We then saw Buckingham palace and walked through St. James Park to Westminster for dinner. It was a glorious last full day. ❤️
London suits me. 😊
Please come back again and see more of the UK. Every tourist should go out of London. There is more to UK than London.
@@Tuffydipstick yes meet the people that have paid for London..living in straightened circumstances..
That is my hope for when I return. Everyone has given me such wonderful ideas for places to visit that it will be difficult to decide where to stay.

“Travelling K” from New Zealand was sponsored to travel the UK…a few years ago..maybe you could do that sort of gig…
KC, you are NOT fat, do not run yourself down, you are a beautiful lady! My brother lives in Alabama and he always has fish and chips when he comes to visit us in West Sussex, he has them like every other day when he is here as he misses “proper fish and chips” in USA! My American niece is Utah loves sticky toffee pudding, so I got her sticky toffee pudding (long life for taking back to Utah) and packet custard so she can have a taste of it when she got back home! Next time you visit please come to West Sussex and I will treat you to an afternoon tea! Love from June, ps thank you - I have enjoyed following your travels and thought you looked good crossing the Abbey Road zebra crossing!
It’s a good thing I waited until the last day to try the sticky toffee pudding as I surely would have had it daily otherwise. It’s sooo good! I would be delighted to have an afternoon tea with you. ❤️
You are not fat; you are lovely. 💖
And you are very kind. ❤️
@@ArizonaKC I agree. Come back soon. I need more vids.
@@DazUK1 I’m so glad you like them!
Hope to see more from your next visit(s) to the UK. 🙂Do get out of London (and England) and see the variety of Britain and the British Isles!
I loved watching this! I'm from the UK but have lived in San Francisco for the last 24 years. I can't tell you how homesick I felt watching your video. Thank you!
I am so glad you enjoyed watching! (But I am sorry it made you homesick!) We really enjoyed our time there and I hope to return and explore outside of London. It is a magnificent place and I know I have barely scratched the surface.
You're why we love Americans. Youve got a sweet way about you.
Hopefully you can check out some of the British coast & Countryside.
@@bwilson5401 aww thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
Please don't call yourself fat KC! - You're wonderful, please be kind to yourself! :) - Your London videos are great as someone who lived for the several years, I often forget London's insane size and scale and how much stuff there is to do. My good American friend told me London is more than twice the size of New York for instance, she would often get emotional at the many historic sights and the architecture which made me reflect on how myself and many of my countrymen just take it for granted as we've grown up around ancient sites.
Your not fat so don't run your self down you are lovely and beautiful. Love and peace from Wolverhampton England
This was the most enjoyable series of your travels in and around London - I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hopefully taken home some good memories .Your relaxed and friendly views while filming were enjoyable to watch .You're more than welcome to visit us again .
I truly hope I can return next summer. ❤️
Personally I try never to do negative. So do you. Keep positive like you are now, and you should live to 110. I'm glad you enjoyed London.
Looking at what's going on in the US I'd seriously be thinking of staying. 🙂
I wouldn’t be opposed! 😊 Except that I don’t have a job there or a place to live. Do you know of anyone in need of a live-in RUclipsr? 😊 (I can clean the house, too.)
@@ArizonaKC There are always jobs in London & the surrounding counties for house sitters &/or looking after Dog, Cat or other animals. A few years ago I lived in & looked after a house in Chiswick for nine months. The money isn't great but you get free board with all bills paid for. You just need a few references from ex-employer's & a nothing serious police record. Smoking pot at sixteen & stuff like that doesn't matter.
If I were sitting adjacent in Poppies I could tell at one glance that you're an American family without hear a word. Cutlery etiquette!
Nice vid. Glad you enjoyed my home city for 45 years. Now in Bath, so see you here next time!!
Uh oh…. I probably don’t exhibit proper manners. 😄 (Don’t take me anywhere nice…. I wouldn’t know what to do!) ❤️ I was in Bath in 2022 and loved it. We of course went to the baths and took a tour of the city and countryside. In fact we enjoyed that so much we asked to take it again and they obliged. (We were the only ones on the tour and we paid additional). We also went to a pub that Charles Dickens frequented but I’m starting to realize he frequented a lot of pubs. 😊 Loved Bath and would be happy to return.
Bye bye KC. That was a thoroughly enjoyable journal of your visit to our city - thank you, and I look forward to your return.
Thank you so much! ❤️
Thank you for a great film. Glad you enjoyed London. In the UK we call crosswalks zebra crossing.
Excellent videos of your visit to London, I've very much enjoyed watching them all .. thank you.
London is missing you to beautiful lady, be sure to return again. ❤️
❤️❤️❤️ I will!
Poppies looks like one of the larger "branded" forms of fish restaurant. A Chippy Tends to do take away (only) but most offer a in house sit down part - often in seaside towns . And yes they do serve pies (hopefully locally or home made), and the rotitisserie chicken.
Like so many chains, it was pretty good when it first started, but has declined in tandem with their expansion. There's better, there's worse. You mention home made pies - I don't think I ever encountered a chippy offering such a rare delicacy. Like their sausages - the pies are always lowest quality, most processed, factory made fare.
@@FTFLCY as in the nearest factory (Hollands for Lancashire, Ginsters for West Country, I think there is a Pauls - yorkshire ? )
That is why I was confused… I thought I was most likely at a restaurant rather than a true chippy.
@@ArizonaKC there are some high class fish restaurants about (but I forget where or names in London), Rick Stein's one in Padstow , Cornwall probably being the most famous in England.
@@ArizonaKC Engilish Fish and Chip Shops - most likely to be run by (in no order) . Greeks, Turks(if in Green Lanes north Lpndon), Chinese (esp in South Wales), Italians. If you are up north they dont know what a Gherkin is, but you can choose to have little pots of Gravy, Peas or Beans to have as an accompaniment. Chip shops will only serve the chunky chips (restuarants only the crinkly cut ones) . the kebab shop "chips" are basically the thin cut/reconsituted "fries".
If you cross Westminster Bridge - then walk along south bank - its not too far following the river to get to Tower Bridge where you can back to bishopsgate for your hotel , about 2 miles max depending on exact route and you will always find new places even if you have been in the areas before
Hope you get to come back soon and see more of the country and share your travels with us. Hopefully we get to see you further up north of the country too! There’s just so much to see
You’re not fat at all, not that there’s anything wrong with that, and you come across as warm and wonderful - you’re a beautiful lady
You are very kind. ❤️ I do hope to return and see more of the beautiful UK. Maybe next summer… I would so love to get out of our desert heat.
I am pleased that you had a good time. London has lots packed into a small space, but travelling around the UK isn't hard and there is so much more to see outside London that is more true to nature of the constituent countries.
It must have been a very emotional experience for you to see where your ancestors were married.
Please come back and spend some more time outside of London, I think that you would enjoy it.
I am certain I would enjoy it. Hopefully it will happen next summer.
Looks like you had a great last day here .
For as long as I've known, chippies have also sold pies, saveloys, sausage in batter although chicken was never a thing when I was a kid.
I've never been to Abbey Road. I've avoided it. Im more of a Led Zeppelin fan anyway (Jimmy Page's house in Kensington is much nicer to look at than a zebra crossing 😅).
You're not fat, don't be silly.
Best wishes and recover from all that walking now.✌️😁
Very happy that you enjoyed your visit to our City. London suits me too. Come again soon
I am already thinking about it. London touched my soul. ❤️
Good exercise coming to London!
I was taken to London for a week when I turned 21 by my stepmum. The V and A museum was my favourite, I ended up going back 4 times, She told me that we would go to the theatre maybe twice but ended up going every night. It was a wonderful week, we walked everywhere saw everything we could, magical memories with her
I am certain you remember that week fondly. That is a wonderful trip! 💕
next time you're in the UK, try fish and chips from a seaside chippy, far nicer!!.Leave London behind and travel into the countryside ,so much greenery and rolling hills and nice walks.
Sounds so lovely. ❤️
We will miss your lovely posts. I think that The Natural History museum would be worth visiting even if it were empty. It is a beautiful building. Sticky toffee pudding, made properly, is amazing and contains dates. Do get out of London the next time. There are some beautiful villages and towns and considerably cheaper. 57 miles walking is impressive, particularly if you are not used to it. I visited my brother in Lake Elsinore, California and apart from the immediate area, it was difficult to walk anywhere. I tried the local shopping mall and the convoluted route I had to take, just to cross the road, was ridiculous. Stay safe.
@@RonSeymour1 I loved filming your beautiful city. We had such a wonderful experience. I do hope you continue to watch my videos. I am a woman in my early 50s that is built similarly to you. I plan on going solo to London and the greater UK in the next few years as a a big trip before I get too old. I spent 3 days in London about 10 years ago and fell in love. Didn't have time to hit all of the museums though and I think that I can spend weeks in them.
I feel like I can easily live there, at least for several years. I wish that I had the means to do so. I imagine my husband and kids might miss me though.
I do so hope you get to go! I loved being there and plan to return as well. ❤️
So impressed by your choice of venues and how much you packed in. The V and A is a glorious museum; in the summer they have a fountain for the kids to cool off in, near one of the courtyard cafes. BTW That sticky toffee pudding looked divine.
It was sooooo good! I’m now on a mission to find it here in the States. 😊 I saw the fountain at the V & A. My kids would have looooved it when they were little.
We have a lot of great things in London, but perhaps not enough of the American open-hearted generosity and enthusiasm such as yours. Lovely to see. Glad you loved it and hope you can come back some day.

Summer is obviously lovely here, especially in places like Devon and Cornwall. Thanks for replying, really did enjoy your travels.
It would be wonderful to get out of the summer heat here in the desert.
Yes I bet it does get extremely hot over there in your neck of the woods, too hot for us Brits ha ha. Nice hearing from you thank you for your nice replies.
Thank you for pointing out the Regents Canal, I've never seen it, but it looks peaceful.
If you ever decide to sail on the Thames,
boats will take you from Westminster pier, towards Richmond, Kew or Hampton Court.
It's a restful way to travel and they serve food and drinks.
Although take a bottle of water and biscuits, just in case.
You can also sail in opposite direction towards Greenwich, and see the old Naval college where Officers used to be trained.
It used to be free but sadly some parts £16. It's still atmospheric to walk around, and you'll see the Cutty Sark ship moored in the harbour, the place where Greenwich Mean time is from, the old market, where there's lots of cafés and shops, and stalls where you can buy relics found in the Thames, like clay pipes and coins.
The regents canal ride was one of my favorite things to do. ❤️
If you come back for another visit to the UK - why not go and see the rest of the UK - by far the best part! London sure is worth a visit by itself but the scenery in the UK is astounding.
That is what I hope to do. 😊
Great video 👍 The traveling and exploring should continue and to share your experience with your RUclips followers 😊
Hi , I love London all the sites its a bustling city for sure . I don't go very often but when I do I'm always impressed by it especially the architecture, and it has plenty of stories to tell . Hope you enjoyed your time here definately come back and explore more of our beautiful island 😊.
For all the walking we did while there I eventually got used to it. Glad you took the chance to do some museums as they are so impressive. I enjoyed every minute. Had fish and chips as much as I could, sooo good. I also realized for all that we did we couldn't begin to see all that we planned. Simply not enough time. When we got on the plane, we realized we were leaving a place that we admired so much that right there we decided that we simply must go back again. God willing. You did a great job, and I saw a bit more because of you. Thank you and have a good rest.
Thank you! I’m still disappointed to have run out of time but I’m very thankful for all we did get to see and experience and for the time we got to spend there as a family. What do you hope to see on your next visit?

Greetings, as we make plans to visit the UK I'm leaning more to spending time in other parts of the UK. We visited Liverpool and didn't have enough time to see all their museums. Time spent in Scotland and Wales is my wish. To visit the many places in London like The War Rooms, Ansley House, the Roman ruins sites and The Mithraeum Museum. Also, back to the Cotswold villages and Palaces outside London are on the list. Looks like this could be multiple trips which would make me happy!
Discovered an app to find rooms much cheaper after we got home by watching a You Tuber from London. Room Couger is the site I'll be looking into for next time. The quaint towns with their cottages for rent is another level of experiencing the beautiful countryside. I plan to look into my roots and hopefully visit and learn of my past relatives. Thank You, glad I found your channel!
@AliceB-ov6iv I just recently discovered room cougar too! @@Southlondonsteve I need more of that in my life! 😄❤️ There is an English inspired restaurant on the east side of my city (Tucson, Arizona) and I need to see if it is on the menu!

I'm so happy you enjoyed my capital city. 🙂 I film in London and recognise a few places you've visited. Some of the places you've been to are now on my list of places I would like to visit.

Many Londoners have moved out of the city and relocated to the 'shires' , so that tells you something. If you come back, try the Cotswolds, Canterbury, Exeter, Wells, Dartmoor, the Lake District, York, Sidmouth, Corfe, Totnes, Exmoor, the Dales, Peak district, then there's Wales, Scotland and Paddy land. You'll get a better fish and chips out in the sticks, where the chippies get first pick of the fish, London gets the rejects lol
Hi! A chippy is normally a known to be a fast take away food corner shop type place. It is basically, you go in and stand (in the US idiom) the line but in the UK the queue and usually it’s fish (2 types namely battered Cod or battered haddock and chips) or small meat pie and chips or a sausage and chips. It gets wrapped with a square of grease proof paper and the clean square white paper and then put salt and vinegar on it then go. That’s a chip shop!! Ok?
Cheers Aah Kid!
Its not construction its renovation 😊😊😊 loved your videos come back soon
You’re right! 😊 (My ex and my son are both involved in construction so that is what pops into my head.) And I’ll do my best to return soon. ❤️

Sticky Toffee pud is definitely dangerous. Glad you liked it. Crumble is great too. I have to dodge both.
I would have gained a ton of weight had I discovered it earlier in my trip. 😄
@@ArizonaKC imagine having to live here surrounded by it! I went for brunch yesterday and they brought a desert menu with it on. Ambushed by Sticky toffee. I held firm but it was difficult 😂.

Good morning to you! That was an interesting way to end the video. During your visit to London you haven’t stopped eating, I know it’s difficult because everywhere is offering good food. When you get home try eating just one meal a day and keep walking, that way you will lose weight. I promise you 😊
London is a brilliant city, but it really needs a long time to explore.⚒️
Most definitely! I barely scratched the surface.
You have to realise London goes back about 2000 years! Today there are many areas still undiscovered, such as underground tunnels built by the Romans. Even the river Fleet, which was once a bustling waterway, is now underground. You may even have walked above it!
The fact is, London has so much history it would take several lifetimes to really get to know it.
@@wasp6594 No, not the River Fleet; that’s a sewer now. You might’ve meant a different river. For ArizonaKC I would nudge you to the outskirts of London and suggest the Elizabeth Park where the Olympics took place in 2012 and a short bus ride away, Epping Forest which is 6,000 acres and if you walked it’s length take you out into the countryside.
I am attempting to assemble a trip back for summer 2025. It would be a two week trip and I would fly in and out of London but I would like to take some time to visit outside of London. I like villages, architecture, food, history… also since I will not be driving I need to be able to reach these places by public transportation. I don’t want to be a typical tourist and hop on a tour bus and spend 20 minutes at a place and say I’ve been there. I would like to be able to spend at least two nights in each area. I know two weeks is still not much time to explore the beauty of your country but it’s what I have available and I am so grateful for it. Any suggestions on where to go and what to see would be most appreciated as I will be working on my itinerary for quite some time.
You might not think that you’ve lost weight, but all those miles have been beneficial, you look healthier and younger!
I felt much better! I’m hoping to keep up the momentum and continue walking at home.
Looks like a Combenation of a Chippy and Restaurant A Chiprant ? A Restippy. A TaurChip .I've Seen a Chippy with Tables in side but I've Never seen one Sells Sticky Toffee Pudding.
I wasn’t sure how good the pudding would be from a fish place… but I shouldn’t have worried. In fact I should have been forewarned at how FANTASTIC it is. 😄 I’m glad I waited until the end of my visit to try it as I certainly would’ve enjoyed it many more times otherwise.
@ArizonaKC Yes it's one my Favourite Puddings as Well .but I'd have with Custard. But my absolute Favourite is a Rhubarb Crumble with Custard. Ho my days.

Thank you!
Chip shop is not a restaurant next time you come go to other places in England especially up north to Yorkshire ,Whitby one of the best places to have fish & chips or down the south west Devon/ Cornwall basically anywhere where there is a proper fish shop( chippy)
Have to add...... Big Ben, is the main bell in the Elizabeth Tower, not the tower or the clock. It's what chimes the hour.
Nearly everyone in London still calls it Big Ben though, including me 😉
I knew it had another name (although I had forgotten what it was). 😊
@@ArizonaKC
The big sharp pointy thing is another name. 😝
Oh dear
The vernacular is 'Big Ben'.
Chippy’s sell a vast array of food of which fish and chips are just one example, pies are also offered as is curry, sausages and rissoles.
In all my years, I've never come across a chippy that sells curry! Did you perhaps mean curry sauce?
curry??!!! are you sure?
@Richard-h7m that is what the restaurant called it. 😊 it was delicious.
I was at a tavern by Big Ben/Elizabeth tower when I had the curry. I wasn’t at the chippy/fish restaurant.

I am telling everyone in the States it is a misconception about the rain in London. 😊
@@ArizonaKCYou arrived during a dry spell we’ve had plenty of rain this year it’s pot luck what weather you get
I was very fortunate then. 😊
I find the daytime frontage of Buckingham Palace very underwhelming, a late addition by Queen Victoria, it’s much nicer illuminated at night or dusk, especially walking through Green Park with original gas lamps, behind the front of BP is an older house and courtyard, very different, if you return I recommend a visit of the State rooms, pre booked, limited summer period.
You mentioned size, I’ve been on a blood sugar awareness course, and sugar in modern foods and drink is an issue, sugar is addictive, chocolate biscuit treats late night before bed which increase blood glucose with no energy to use it up is not good, we were advised of alternatives to dilute the craving.

Interesting vlogs, I just wondered why you moved hotels quite frequently, you liked the Mad Hatter, could you not stay the whole visit rather than pack up, wait for afternoon checkin, then unpack again?
We changed once. When we arrived we stayed at the Mad Hatter for three nights. I loved that hotel so much. It was a small boutique hotel with only 30 rooms and the staff was lovely. It was more expensive than the Hampton by Hilton so we spent 5 days there. It too was lovely but in a different way. While it was much much larger the staff still were so welcoming and kind and we had that amazing city skyline view. I prefer boutique hotels in general over large chains but the price tag got in the way for me to stay in one the entire time.
In the UK we do not say BuckingHAM we pronounce it with a silent H
Thank you! I appreciate help with pronunciation. The time before I was pronouncing all the W’s. 🤣
I think Americans call a Gherkin a pickle/pickled cucumber, did you notice the building in London called the Gherkin?
@@john_smith1471 yes we call them pickles. And I had a GORGEOUS view of the Gherkin from outside my window at the second place we stayed, Hampton by Hilton London City near Brick Lane.
Whereas a gherkin in a chippy is a wally.
Outside tourist areas most chippies are takeaway (to go) only.
Pedestrians have priority at Zebra crossings. Cars HAVE to stop for them.
I think I would do my best to stay away from driving near that particular zebra crossing! 😊

Nice to see you had a good time. London is probably like New York to British people like me. It's a gateway but not much like the country as a whole. The Natural History Museum is amazing too.
Lisbon (Portugal) and Prague (Czechia) are two other European cities I'd genuinely recommend.
If I was cruel I'd also encourage you to visit Luton, Slough or Nuneaton if you come back. But no, don't bother with those places. They're shit holes.
Fish and chips need vinegar!!!
I need to try that… I have never put vinegar on my fish.
You are not FAT, you are lovely and be proud of your curvy gorgeousness!
Technically, chippies do not sell desserts. so you are in a restaurant that sells fish and chips. Poppies is a very popular tourist spot, it's a shame you couldn't find a chippy as well! There is a difference, I think chippy fish & chips are better than sit down restaurant dinners.
Wot? No home made mushy peas?
I will need to try that the next time! 😊
Next time visit places outside the M25 you’ll be amazed at the beauty and lovely people you’ll meet. Britain DOESNT begin and end in London.
A "chippy" is take-away only! Your cod & chips should be accompanied ONLY by salt and malt vinegar.
Ohhhh so I was just at a restaurant. I guess I didn’t get to go to a chippy after all. Next time!
Have you had Banoffee Tart yet? If not, it's your next challenge.
I’ve never heard of it! Will I like it?
@ArizonaKC I hope you will. Though it sounds American it was invented in Britain believe it or not. It's just a shortcrust pastry tart case filled with caramel and banana slices decorated with whipped cream.
I would definitely like that!
Fish & chips & Sticky toffee pudding nearly made your eyes pop out 😂😋English food is " boring and bland" is a lie....
I would class poppies as a chippy 100% - a posher one but it definitely is a chippy.
I like a pickled egg with my fish and gherkin…
You are definitely not fat in fact you must be quite fit to have walked all those miles.
I felt so much better walking each day. I have been slacking since returning to the States but I do need to get out and walk more. ❤️
I always go for haddock….its nicer than cod…..my cockney uncle bought me Rock Salmon once ,that was a bit freaky..
I have never heard of rock salmon…
@ I hadn’t but it’s popular in only London.. it looks like a battered cod but it’s full of bones..really weird when you’re expecting a soft white all edible fish..
@griswald7156 I will stay away from that!

He did not look very bright. This morning, his wife had to call an ambulance. He had taken a bad turn. KC, I have over $2000 worth of booze in the games room. My daughter had just eaten a bagel on the street and I desperately wanted to try fish before we left but wasn’t hungry enough for a full plate. We do a lot of sharing when we want to try something. 😊
No it's not odd to share!
I'm English and will often share a fish and chip supper with a friend, either if we've gone to the coast for the afternoon (only live about half an hour away by public transport), or after our Monday Scrabble evening at the library.
The helpings are _so big!_
Dont worry, I do a manual job every day and i am fat.
Honey I meant it. In the New year I will give you a detail summary of what can do when you come here.
We are in spring, but the Sun bites into my neck. Kim, would you like a Sombrero. I have one that hasn't been used. You can have and get protected from the Arizona sun. Actually tonight when I was watching the News. I was stretching myself to see if I could see in the crowds at Arizona. Donald Trump was campaigning there.
Thank you for the offer but I do have a lot of hats I wear when I am working in the garden. But thank you though!
A restaurant is never proper fish&chips go for a takeaway fish&chips or chippy.rookie mistakes by Americans, check out darren John's food vlogs..
I just pulled him up… he’s all about London and Thailand (two of my favorite places!).
All chippies sell pies and fish plus other foods.poppies is not a chippy.
And visiting London also doubles as a visit to Paksistan
Only to racists
Keep up that amount of walking, and you won't need to think about your weight.
Another boring 'tourist in london' video. Why bother?
My videos may be boring to you but these are my memories that I made with my children… something I cherish.
Because they enjoyed it killjoy!
