- Typical Friday nightmare job to finish the week off, New thermostatic shower cartridge and it doesn’t let the hot water through... so had to refit the old one.
And
Quick 2 minute bath Ceramic cartridge swap...
I've been there many times with shower valves, I prefer bar mixer showers - undo two nuts and put a new one on.
Great channel you've started 👍😎
Glad you like the channel PB 👍🏼👍🏼
Yep completely agree. Inset showers look smart but can be a pain to work on.
Nice Mark. Hopefully you were able to stop at a reasonable time that Friday afternoon.
Thanks mate 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thanks for sharing this knowledge. How do you know which valve to replace if there are two taps?
Match the valve to what is currently in it👍🏼👍🏼
@@MJTiffPlumbing Sorry, I meant how do you know which valve is faulty? I guess trial and error will do it though. 😅
I’ve never seen that assortment kit of valves.... plumbase you’ve mentioned?
Yep, got that kit from my local plumbase.... really handy to have
Great work and nice van mate. If u add add a squirt of washing up liquid to your chemical you will have much thicker foam which will dwell for longer. Don't forget to shake it.
Cheers buddy.....
Plus you don’t want to add fairy liquid as it’s a degreasing agent, PH neutral snow foam always. Gotta have a clean van
I like the way you just replaced the seals on the shower valve. The problem with all these new age valves is that they're all different. Some people buy their taps from amazon, or from another country!
When I lived in Holland I got a job fitting out a whole bathroom with materials ordered from England. They wanted me especially due to speaking both languages.
The tap the company sent included two steel wire mesh washers which ended up rusting and seizing up the tap after 6 months?
Another Dutch mate had a spa shower which came as a whole unit. The company went bust, so where do you get the replacement valves for that?
Ceramic taps can be a nightmare too. Can never have enough spares. Good old taps that always worked and could be reseated. We like making life difficult for ourselves don't we. Funny creatures us humans.
I'm waiting for one hobbyist to comment on this post that he forgot to turn the water off before taking the spindel out.
Thanks mate.....i never order stuff off the internet, always through a reputable trade stockist
@@MJTiffPlumbing people went through a stage of ordering their own taps and getting plumbers to fit the taps the customer supplies.
Sorry mate, wasn't insinuating you using dodgy parts.
Customers do not understand the difference between B and Q and the plumbers merchants. B and Q always have the B rated goods which are sometimes wonky, don't fit very well. I had one toilet where the pan connector just slipped right back off after putting it on. It was tapered haha.
Plumbers merchants get A rated products because we have to offer a guarantee too. Which is why I sometimes refuse to install something they ordered off the Internet.
Great channel though mate, loads of great info. Thanks for sharing!
@@thefunksoulplumber2222 Not a problem mate, didn't think you was...all good.
Yer people tend to think your trying to rip them off with the parts but we car 99% of the time get them cheaper and if there is ever an issue it on us, but they like to think they are saving a few quid...
Where do you get the tap cartridges from? Do they come as a set or do you put the set together? Thanks
was thinking the same thing
I got the set from Plumbase local to me, very good bit of kit
Can anybody tell me the DEEP socket set I need for the van as a plumber please!?
Check out a cheap long socket set from halford👍🏼👍🏼
Built in shower valves are always a pain. I never schedule them on a Friday!
Yep, they can be a right pain
Hate shower valves, they are always a pain in one way or another, keep smiling. 🤪
yep, have to take the rough with the smooth at times
You need a 17mm deep socket / ratchet for your cartridge removal…
Yep, indeed….. have one in the van (when I can find it)
