- In a 40-minute interview to Karan Thapar for The Wire, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association Dushyant Dave described Prashant Bhushan as “a thorn in the eyes of all establishments” but added that the manner in which the Tehelka contempt case, which dates back to 2009 and has not been heard for the last 8 years, has been prioritized does suggest that “Prashant Bhushan’s rights could be seriously affected”. Mr. Dave said it does look as if Prashant Bhushan is being singled out and victimised.
Speaking about the second contempt case Prashant Bhushan faces, which arises out of one of his tweets commenting on a photograph of the Chief Justice sitting on a Harley Davidson, Mr. Dave said this “definitely does not amount to contempt”. Mr. Dave said “scandalising a judge is different to scandalising an individual”.

Judiciary is a mockery as on today. Normally, judiciary should not deal with the cases on temperaments.

So many people repeatedly allege corruption charges against politicians, Govt officials and many other individuals and institutions in the country. Even retired SC judges have pointed out corruption in judiciary. Why such allegations against judges alone is not being tollerated? Is it b'cas no judge is corrupt or b'cas they are given the tool of slapping contempt cases as they want? Then, why not similarly arm the other sections of the society also with powers to adjudicate contempt proceedings by themselves?

The SC listing the old contempt case now appears to reveal its burning urge and to take avenge (and vendeta?) by display of its prerogative in listing casesinvolving itself to serve selfish purpose, on priority, before serving others.

Here in the US there is no such thing like holding someone in contempt because that person criticized or made fun of the Justices including the Chief Justic of the Supreme Court. India should have similar law too.
Always good and learning experience to listen to Senior Advocate Mr. Dave. I salute his controlled courage. He tells things without them telling. Look forward to decisions of contempt proceedings against Prashant Bhushan, Advocate. Some forces out of Judiciary seems have intruded the Judiciary.

Where ego is concerned priorities like case pendency takes a back seat.
I and I also know that many like me are unable to find common cause with many things that the Supreme Court judges are doing.
We have a CJI behaving like a rockstar and that too on property belonging to a political activist regardless of its colour. Will this not be critiqued.
Justice Mishra the judge who is the prime mover in this contempt petition is the one who gave that amazing endorsement of the PM. He also asked in the Rajasthan case as to why dissent is suppressed. Why the double standards?
Have we also forgotten the nomination of CJI Gogoi easily one of the most forgettable CJIs the Supreme Court has had, to the Rajya Sabha?

The sedition charge is being imposed to all students for their right and fighting, where as State govt rulling party are being distrubed and Hijacked their MLAs ,the disloyal activities are not falled under sedition charge. In this case law is silent, why......
Why an individual who doesn't wear Musk in public places should not be charged with violation of Pandemic Rules. Who break the rules does not matter.

Isn't the apex court is making illustration of freedom of speech to narrow for lawyers? If you criticise or scrutinise steps taken by Hon'ble Supreme Court, then face contempt. They are fighting for others rights and at the same time they have an umbrella of these laws.

Prashant Bhushan is the son of Shanti Bhushan who won for Raj Narain against Indira Gandhi in the early 1970’s. Ageing father and his son will be burning the midnight oil to win the case and make the judiciary look foolish. Let us see what happens.

One issue remain when judges himself commit continues of their own court
There is logical lacuna in the SC itself handling contempt cases favouring itself (wherein the corut or the judges are the agrieved) or it's judges. Ironical and partial, as it appears to self serve. To better serve natural justice, such cases should not be handled by the SC itself and should be handled by some other suitable authority.
