I just bought the exact guitar, same color, US$323.00, four months ago in a Pawn Shop. I wanted a Telecaster after playing for 42 years finally. When I saw it, I said what in world is that? I already wore out the Chinese 5-way switch and had to buy an American Fender 5-way switch and solder it myself. It fits to convert it to American. This is the ultimate busking or cover band guitar. I like all of the many sounds it makes. The pickups are great too, at least I think so far.

I bought one years ago because I wanted a Tele but always need a humbucker in bridge position. My heart sank when I saw 'made in China' on it.....but then I plugged it in. The action and intonation was set perfectly from the factory. The maple neck is everything you expect it to be.
The sunburst is dramatic & beautiful. The biggest takeaway is, it's capable of any tones you want to coax out of it. The neck pickup especially is smooth, like butter. The only niggling point for me is, the humbucker seems weak, especially for percussive palm-muting play. I'm considering changing it out but also realize they didn't want something too hot in there that overshadows the other 2 pickups.
I do wholeheartedly agree: this baby is the ultimate tele at any price. A++

I have this thing and I love it, the humbuckers give you really nice crunchy distortion and the middle+bridge configuration is my favourite for playing clean. A great price for a guitar with many tonal capabilities

This was my first electric guitar. I absolutely love it. It has a very nice twang to it which lens it to that western/south western feel especially with a little spring reverb on the cleans just at the edge of breaking up. You can get some good surf vibes as well. Also you can get some pretty lean and mean tones if you drive your app. The operative word is lean. They aren't fat but they'll mean mug you for sure. I'm running it through a fender blues jr but it’s a combo that works great together. I have the one with the transparent charcoal finish.

I bought an amp and got one of these for 200$ (750$ total), not expecting to REALLY play it all the time. Figured it was a good deal and I couldn't say no. This was two months ago and it's the only guitar I play now. I don't know why I'll ever need another guitar. It does EVERYTHING and imo sounds amazing. It feels like a 1200$ guitar but for less than half that. 10/10 from me. Ultimate Tele no doubt.

Thought of adding another switch like the sc hum bucker and getting neck bridge option or series parallel aswell if get s1 switch. Missed out on 1 with upgraded s1 on it. Sick.

I guess you hit the nail on the head for me. I bought an Epiphone Les Paul Pro 3 and I was kind of like hum. I had only had an Ibanez QM570 and a Squire Tele other than acoustics. I also had an Ovation Legend Limited that I really liked. Anyway back to the story. I sold all of those after the crash in 2008 and had to part with all things in 2010 when i finally went belly up. Well I guess mid life crisis is the word I was looking for because I replaced all of my gear in a few weeks. The LP didn't do it on its own so I got a Squire bass 6 and loved it. After that I was still not happy with the LP and saw one of these for around 500 US with Lollar pick ups. After I got over the China thing I bought it. When it arrived I knew that my search was over. It is the best guitar that I have ever picked up. I'm not the pimple on the ass of a guitarist but I have played a few. I couldn't believe the quality. It blew most of the stuff I have seen from them out of the water. Mind you it had replaced pick ups but it still felt right. It is also great sounding. I didn't know the pickups were hand wound boutique and the instrument was as well regarded as it was until after the fact. But I have gone and looked back at what people were saying about it because I love the thing. I wondered what the consensus was. It turns out everyone was right lol. Therefore I love the channels that I have found researching this thing. I hope you are doing well and your crisis has passed. Nice to have found your stuff. I think that I am just at the start of my crisis but that I have found some help in the Player Plus to get me through.
    Thanks,
    David
(PS my daughter changed my user name when she started using my tablet. Now I am Emo lol....why go back)

One of these showed up at a pawn shop and I had to try it. Its unlike my other telecasters but in a good way. I really recommend it if you can find one.

A couple of the Modern Player guitars (this and the Starcaster) were made in China and having both of them, I can say quite categorically, that the Chinese made Fenders are better than the Mexican ones.

I had this guitar when it came out, the humbucker was a bit muddy with distortion but for £350 it was well worth the price tag and to just replace the pick ups with higher quality ones, really wish I hadn't sold it

I own a Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus and love it more than my 2 pickup 1969 Tele - this is FAR more versatile for tones~!!!! I love the Tele neck too - and this spitter switch and 5 way switch.

Just bought one for £350 quid. I was trying out more expensive instruments - including a lovely T-Type Schecter (which was about a grand in price). I could not believe how playable and nice looking this instrument was in comparison (I expected it to be poor!). So glad I didn't walk past this - it does everything I was looking for. And I LOVE the glossy maple neck - it's so smooth.

I own a similar spec indonesian Fender fmt hh (although that is a two humbucker coil tap). This guitar wormed its way into being my number one guitar because of versatility. The only downside i find with my guitar is remembering your settings for coil tap, tone pot (which i don't know about yours but mind is sensitive) and the pedal lol.

So I'm a big chillis fan so a strat is the obvious option, but i also dapple in heavy rock and metal. I love the look of the tele, and theres a used one up for sale for a bargain. My heart says yes, my brain says no. Do you think the tone would be close enough to the chillis, and is the humbucker rocky enough? Any help would be rlly appreciated

Like the 2 piece centre joined body after watching how thwy do it and was 4 boards getting glued up in fender warehouse in America. Dor american fenders. Then i read mim.are top bottom thin ply :( really. China can do 2 piece bodymatched and the fender factory was without bs. 4 thin boards before clamp dried routed and usa 1500£ .
Add on off switch near other single coil humbucker switch for neck on off. Heard sounds good noise with these on? Neck bridge.
Dont think they started till 2011. Years on back

There are still plenty out there in the wild on the second hand market as people tend to stay away from the Chinese Fenders (which is their loss) and you can pick one of these up now for around £400, which is insanely good value IMHO.

I bought one when when they first came out... all my music equipment' guitars/amps/pedal boards/PA equipment etc got stolen in 2015.... the first guitar I replaced was the modern player.... that's how impressed I was with it and especially for the money to get back to playing. I have since then spent alot of money on it for upgrades.... not that it wasn't a good instrument but for the music I play....
Strap pull b bender/ drop banjo tuners on the high E and A strings/ Hipshot drop tuner on the low E string' several other mods including a SD pearly gates in the bridge.... the humbucker that comes stock is the weak link on the MP tele.
