    Lily you are doing so well 🌞👍 when you longe the horse, in the beginning when the horse is getting used to your voice and commands, try to say walk the same second the horse start walking (they will think it's their own idea) same with other commandos - let the horse believes that its their idea, they eventually connect it with your voice and words 🌞 good luck and congratulations once again ❤❤

    Nicely done Lily! Ask Mama to buy you a riding crop, not for whipping, but When lunging Peaches, hold your lead in one hand and point your crop at his hip. Horses are rear motivated so pointing it at his hip and giving a command: walk, and when he walks say “ good walk”, and lower the crop slightly, then say “ trot”, when you’re ready, and lift the crop and point it at his hip as you say “trot” voice slightly raised with confidence, lower the crop slightly when he trots say “good trot”, when your ready say, “ canter”and again point the crop at his hip, say it in a slightly raised voice with conviction . Peaches will begin to recognize the voice change as well as look for the cue with the crop. It takes practice to coordinate, but Lily, you’ve got this! I feel like a proud grandma when I watch you! Remember practice, plus More practice, plus more practice makes more perfect 👍🏼🥰❤️ ps when you lower the crop don’t lower it all the way to the ground just ever so slightly point toward his hock, but continue pointing in the direction you want him to go. As you practice you will begin to notice what is happening with your own body movements and how that affects Peaches it is such a wonderful learning/teaching tool ❤ Congratulations 🎉Lily! Oh and as for birthday, and other gift days I’m sure you will wish for tack and other needed items for Peaches🍑’s 😂

It's good in most cases to allow the animals to set their own boundaries. What people see as bad sometimes is actual good. Sometimes as humans we can step in and make matters worse when just a little kick, growl or scuffle animal to animal to show dominance is a one and done and will never need to be addressed again.

      @@Jane_Snow_ There's nothing wrong with saying that it sounded like Lily was saying "Whoa" when she was really saying "walk". I heard the same thing and I certainly had no mean intent. Some people's ears interpret things differently, that's all.

    • @smokeyangelav
      @smokeyangelav Год назад +4

      @@Jane_Snow_ some people do need to leave the family alone but she was not being mean and she wasn't wrong. That's why Justin was questioning it. I thought she said the same. That horse is wonderfully trained and Lily only needs to be comfortable and consistent. Her walk did sound like whoa and she may have said whoa because she's nervous. She was clearer later. Either way, even if it was not possible for someone to say a word correctly, a horse will get used to it once it knows the owners commands. They are going to be fine and inseparable very soon.

    • @smokeyangelav
      @smokeyangelav Год назад +1

      I do want to say that "whoa" is her single most important command as it can save her and/or her horses life. Walk would probably be second. Check with her trainer but perhaps a quick "walk" and a drawn out "whoa" would be better for her since it sounds similar. Even if they sound the same, the horse will tell the different tone. I was once on a trail ride and they had a bison there for a commercial that was walking free. It came out of the woods and startled the group. The first one bucked and the rider fell and broke her tail bone, the once behind turned around and ran the other direction. My husband's horse ran and ran and the leaders had to turn around and chase him down. It was his first and last time on a horse (even though he was a motocross rider). My horse was smart and darted through the trees. Which was actually more serious than the one that darted down the trail as I had to duck several times. Since I've ridden before, I only had to say a strong "whoa" and pull back on the reins. It stopped. Then I calmed it by petting it on the neck and turned it around once it was calm and the chaos stopped. That same horse was so used to being on that same trail that earlier I couldn't get it to cut in line so I could get up to my husband. It wouldn't canter either though it clearly knew the command but it moved it's head like "no, I have to stay in line" lol. I was pretty impressed that it listened to me once there was disruption in its normal routine. I loved seeing her ride bareback the other day. That's how I learned and it's most comfortable for me and probably more comfortable for the horse. We could ride my aunt's horse without a bridle because it was so well trained. We just put pressure on her neck to steer. When my aunt moved out of state (the horse was at my grandmothers), the horse became a little ornery and tried taking us off her back with the trees (who knew that was practice for a dangerous situation).

Just a word of warning here... horse show people can be blood and death snobs in the quest for their blue ribbon. Take this from a trainer who took horses all the way to the World Championships. It's not safe to leave a horse with a halter on unsupervised. I don't know if you're doing that, so just FYI. A horse can get the halter caught on fencing and pull the fencing down and get entangled in it. With electric fence the result would be even more catastrophic. Horsey stuff is a steep learning curve - I can see you're learning fast.

    First Peaches is awesome what a lucky little girl ♥️. We all start somewhere! My first horse was a 3 year old race horse off the track loll trainers thought my parents were NUTT’s 😂 but he was a great horse.
    I wanted to send a word of caution about turning him out with the cows that have horns. Horses have a distinct ability to find the smallest thing and find a way to put a gash somewhere. One nudge too hard from the horn Nd really bad things could happen and Lilly would be heartbroken. Just be careful. I love watching the journey .

    Count your blessings that you have a daughter who is every bit as hard a worker as any of your boys-and cooks on top of it. She deserves that horse and should be encouraged in her dreams. Is it only OK if she desires, wants, gets something that YOU liked, like your boys get/got. Is it really necessary for you to constantly tell her (or your RUclips audience) how you didn’t choose the horse? If she gets hurt in the process, will you be as patient and loving as you were with Jonah? I hope so. She is the only princess the Lord chose to bless you with. Positively encourage her. The Bible says, “If God is for you, who (of any significance) could be against you?” I believe the same holds true in a loving, supportive relationship between a father and his daughter-and THEY need to hear it regularly.

    Lilly needs a different longe line . That flat line is to floppy. I suggest you check into a Parelli 22 ft. Line.She will have more control and can communicate better with her horse. Worth the money.

    • @lainahiller4146
      @lainahiller4146 Год назад +1

      I have had a Parelli 12 ft and a 22 ft for years. They are the best, hands down, for communicating and durability. Beginners usually start with the 10 ft as it is more manageable. They also sell a Kid Carrot Stick.

    #JustinRhodes, this was great, I love your explanation of your theory on raising children, following what they love whether you like it or not. Lily has become a stron girl, knowing what she likes to do & learning all she can, from rabbits, which didn't work, to cooking & now a horse, both of which she loves doing. I still think she will end up doing both English & Western & teaching Peaches how to pull loads of stuff on the farm. I just listened to a video that showed a horse who has been shown & the farmer said, he is also a work horse. Yeah, it takes some training, so, if Lily decides to put Peaches to work, she will be able to do both with him.

    I love how she set a boundary with you dad. I think she just wanted to focus on the horse and communicate and figure things out. you’re talking was disruptive for her process. She seems to be a real introvert like my daughter. My daughter goes to public school and when she comes home, she goes to her room and says “don’t talk to me for one hour, I’m introverting”. 🤣 I also cracked up at her reaction when you told her you were not into the Horse, but you chose her. Her response, also reminded me of my daughter, who is now 15 years old. Sometimes she just has this look on her face like, “OK, whatever that means”. 🤣🤣🤣

    (RE When helping the chitlins with tasks... from many video moments.) By the time I was an older teen, I started walking away when Mom would take over a task. It was disheartening when I needed to ask a question and the answer was (by action) "step aside". Neither of us made the best choices in our dealings with this; but we didn't make the worst ones either. (I recognize it in their faces) Blessings

    Lily is very smart and capable, she should do well. Just dont let her ride unattended/unsupervised without another person around in case something happens. I probably would have started her off on a donkey a while ago and you didn’t get her the right kind of rabbits years ago so that didn’t work, but she should learn quickly to be proficient with her horse 🐴

      A horse can kick, but a bull can easily kill a horse. Ask me how I know. Just because Stud didn't do anything this time, doesn't mean he won't, Notice that Stud did NOT back away or run off. He is waiting.....
