Lol, loved the original series. I have to point out that it is pretty off seeing the poncho Pikachu sealed products while roleplaying a casual collector!
First of all, love to see the series back & I hope it really stays as a monthly series bc many people start a video series like it and never do a 2nd, 3rd, 4th,...video (and the series just ends after the first video).🤓 Also, small but important thing that you include sleeves/toploaders/binder into the budget and not separate. I have seen videos where someone starts a collection series for beginners, uses all the money on cards/products and in the end of the video puts them into a 25 dollar binder which wasn't even included earlier😅
As a budget collector, I can tell you that you can pretty cool cards on a budget!! There's some pretty underrated cards out there. Glad to see the 100 dollar challenge is back, it was so much fun!!
I think my advice for a new collector would be to get something that will keep their cards safe, spend the extra money for a GREAT binder to make your cards last and live safely.
@@Edward.Elric18 if it’s a good binder without rings, and has side loaders it’s great. I use top loaders as temporary protection. Also unless you have a full top loader kit box you’re missing out on extra protections with the layered sleeves. I recommend a good binder, a decent pack of sleeves, and a plan of storage. Loaders are fine if you want to display but you can find better options that are more card fitting. My main thing is not investing in cheap and temporary safety or the cards will suffer in the long run.
@HandlesTheCyberman I have all my expensive cards in good sleeves in a top loaders. So would you recommend me transferring them into a ringless binder?
Remember not to succumb to fomo, and it might sound silly at first, but NEVER, and I mean NEVER chase your chase. Nothing wrong with setting a safe budget on a set to try, but if you don’t get lucky early on you’ll most likely spend 3-5x as much as you would trying to pull it rather than just buying the single out right.
This is exactly what my husband and I do. We have a $125 budget each month and started in November. We’ve managed to get pretty solid collections between the two of us and respectively.
I really enjoyed the role-playing. :D You could easily start a "original 151" section in your binder or a Komiya-page. There's so much to do with bulk if you let it come to you.
i dont comment alot but I have to for this, i love the idea man. You also show off alot of cards thats arent the big ticket items that everyone is looking for, showing an appreciation for these cards is fun to watch.
Your video from about a year ago when i first started collecting made a huge difference in my collecting success and enjoyability. Defining my interest and ultimate goal for my collection really kept me from sporadic purchases that end up on the "miscellaneous" binder pages
Nice to see you starting this challange again! Would have loved it to be more in your eyes and not in the eyes of a new collector, so you could give tips in what you would buy on a budget! Please sleeve your cards and then put them in the Binder
Great idea! I‘m collecting base set and have half the budget. Once in a while I mix some modern cards in for a change. Your Galarian Galerie idea is great!❤
Great series it’s going to be interesting to see where the collection will be in 6 months. One idea could be to spend some of the budget on a sealed investment
i super super appreciate this. i'm new to the hobby (i started collecting early december 2024) and while i went hard the first two months, i now need to slow down because of other financial goals and my new goal is $100 a month for the next couple of months. thank you for this!!!
Hi Jake! Welcome to the hobby! Here are some quick tips for you as a beginner: 1. If your budget is low, consider buying non-english cards. They come much cheaper but have the same gorgeous artwork! You could double this collection using cards from different languages! 2. Try playing TCG yourself! If you play and enjoy the game, you will feel less terrible for having no pulls. 3. Remember to share the joy! Open boosters with your loved ones to make unforgettable memories ❤
I love these fun videos. I absolutely love singles and learned if you don't mind cards in languages outside your own many times you can get the same card at a much affordable price...especially Chinese just like the last card in the video (I have that card too).
As a new collector, i first picked up Shrouded as my first buys because it was the cheapest. I really liked the art and i found out later i was lucky in pulling the full art Persian in my first packs, but i liked the commons too. Now Im in quite a bit deeper but i still dont get the hate for that set, and i enjoy flipping through that binder just as much if not more than other sets ive acquired since.
Speaking of vintage everyone for gets the pop cards. Pop 5 is really expensive but there are like 8 others that are kinda cheap to a little pricey. You can pull some fun stuff outta of it. Theres singles of base set unlimited and jungle singles as well. Also I think setting you sites on your favorite pokemon can be helpful. Sure that pokemon could be umbreon which can be expensive but every pokemon has a cool card that isn't expensive. A chase doesn't have to be expensive just matter to the person chasing it.
I don't know why everyone thinks the hobby is expensive to get into. If you only listen to investor bros sure, but there are so many incredible and cheap full art cards that will go right at home in any collection.
im really glad you brought up chinese cards, ive gotten some cards in other languages that i never couldve afforded in english and my monthly budget is just 40 bucks(unless i sell other cards or collectables) i got back into collecting about 6 months ago after stopping in the late XY era and im pretty happy with what ive gotten back and what else ive amassed, im nearly done collecting every deoxys card wich was a big goal
5 below and Temporal Forces has been a reliable surprise for me, I still love those cards. Singles I've chased to start my new collection; Baby shinies Cards with 3+ pokes Common legendaries Reverse holos! Collecting pokes that my favorite gym leader used ! Don't give into FOMO
Love this idea with a lot of poketubers saying it's impossible to be a collector in the card market.. I will say I would have used a little bit more money to get a decent binder like a card guardian one from Amazon. Other than that, everything looks solid.
Awesome video! My only suggestion is that D ring binders are not a safe binder to put cards in. They can very easily damage your cards. A side loading binder without d rings is best.
I really like this series, I am also new to collecting and gone way above my budget (I feared that prices would just go up and I won’t be able to get nice things I want) The only thing that I would not recommend is buying a super cheap Chinese card from eBay, it is really hard for beginners to spot fakes and I think that 9/10 it would be fake
hey Jake, the Alola full art is the Simplify Chinese PTCG one year anniversary promo card which the art work only available in Japanese and Simplify Chinese version. Japanese version is so expensive, and very rare. this Chinese version is the best replacement of the Japanese one. price will go up for sure.
I just started collecting like 2 weeks ago and I don't think its hard but will need a lot of patience. With thier being card shop, ebay, and live sellers there are so many places and ranging prices that it can get confusing. For me I was to hasty and poured a lot of money to some cards on ebay with out referencing prices 😭 needless to say lesson learned. Also this hobby is crazy addictive especially with the lives 😳 had to stop using tick tock and set goals 😅.
Iv just started collecting with a £50 ish limit pm. So far iv bought a setllar crown etb, 4 blisters (variety of SV ones) as well a couple of individual packs. For Feb Iv ordered the combined powers collectors and have £15 left. I’m opening everything and love the full arts, will probably go on singles soon but enjoy ripping! Maybe focus on legendary birds and beasts with other cards of same type
Collecting is possible with any budget, but people are seeking to invest as well I suppose. It’s a bullish market. I started collecting again and love some of the cheaper and newer art cards but generally am just more into older and more expensive cards… it’s interesting as an MTG player where the price is determined by demand which is determined by both supply and actual playability or power… Pokemon feels like the crypto market at this point hahah. Still having fun tho and I love your enthusiasm!
i always like this kind of series because it’s cool to see how the collection grows over time. i was bummed when you said you were shutting down the community collection. one question, is Collector Jake buying from “Seller HalfBakedJake” lol, or are you buying on TCG player and other online stores?
Maybe I missed it, but you should start by prefacing WHERE you purchased these cards from. All of your centerings are immaculate, the average collector that tries to purchase these exact same cards from TCGPlayer will not have that degree of luck lmao. I'm not even sure how you managed to, if I'm being honest. Half the time you purchase from an online retailer, you're getting what they cant send to PSA.
I can't believe I didn't buy more Celebrations Umbreon Gold Stars while I had the chance. As someone who believes in Celebrations as the set that will appreciate the most in value of any set over the next couple years, even I didn't think raw NM Umbreons would have gone from $15 a card to $70 a card this fast. They were one of the most slept-on cards in the entire hobby the past 3 years and now a PSA 10 sells for $240 when in November they were $60. Same with the Shining Magikarp. Celebrations is exploding in real time.
OMG IS THIS SERIES REALLY BACK? THE 100$ PER MONTH THING??? :OOO
This idea is just so good and satisfying looking foward to it!
A pandemic era favorite
I was gonna ask the same thing! Love the concept, and as a seasoned collector watching someone build a collection from scratch feels really good.
This is a cool idea. I really liked the community portfolio video series you did a while back.
Same! Those were so awesome...
First day of collecting and he already went over budget. One of us!
Lol, loved the original series. I have to point out that it is pretty off seeing the poncho Pikachu sealed products while roleplaying a casual collector!
I love how this gets slowly more and more into role-playing as the video goes
First of all, love to see the series back & I hope it really stays as a monthly series bc many people start a video series like it and never do a 2nd, 3rd, 4th,...video (and the series just ends after the first video).🤓

Thanks for making these videos for budget collectors like me.
Honestly, great advice. Cheap binders and cheap binder pages can really distort and damage cards
Do you think cards are more safe in binders versus top loaders?
@@Edward.Elric18 if it’s a good binder without rings, and has side loaders it’s great. I use top loaders as temporary protection. That’s what I did buying 8 boxes of Japanese surging sparks and getting one sir
A Durant sir
This is exactly what my husband and I do. We have a $125 budget each month and started in November. We’ve managed to get pretty solid collections between the two of us and respectively.
I appreciate you recontextualizing the hobby as things get super crazy. At the end of the day it's not what you spent but how a card makes you feel!
This is a cool idea. I hope you keep this going throughout this year. This is especially good to see given the current market!
I really enjoyed the role-playing. :D
You could easily start a "original 151" section in your binder or a Komiya-page. There's so much to do with bulk if you let it come to you.
i dont comment alot but I have to for this, i love the idea man. You also show off alot of cards thats arent the big ticket items that everyone is looking for, showing an appreciation for these cards is fun to watch.
"And the Chinese seller actually shipped it to me, which was surprising." Oh no... 😄
Half-baked Jake 😂 14:04
Nice to support a new content creator like this! Looking forward to watching your collection grow 😂
Your video from about a year ago when i first started collecting made a huge difference in my collecting success and enjoyability. Defining my interest and ultimate goal for my collection really kept me from sporadic purchases that end up on the "miscellaneous" binder pages
Great work on this Jake, I know you put alot of thought into it. Thank you!
I adore this video!!! Especially you acting like a new player! Reminds me of myself with my first ever pack haha this is amazing.
I love the role playing 😂❤ great video

This is the perfect timing for me since I sold lots of cards to tide me over and now I’d like it start rebuilding!! Yayyyy
This is basically what do every month 😅 keep it going with this series! Very fun
When I saw the friends in Alola I thought you were MESSING with us!! I didn't know Chinese would make it so good, I'm totally going to get one now!!
I did something similiar when i re-entered the hobby in 2022. I started getting all the nice cheap art cards from the SWSh sets.
Awesome video Jake 👍🏻. Very unique.
Cool collection kiddo! Welcome back to the hobby, you’re gonna make it big in this space someday! Keep it up youngster!
Great series it’s going to be interesting to see where the collection will be in 6 months. One idea could be to spend some of the budget on a sealed investment
WOOHOO!!! A return of the $100 series. This is what initially introduced my to your channel. So glad you're bringing it back.
I MISSED THESE KIND OF VIDEOS JAKE!!
ive been watching jake for years and years. i also live in vegas and really hope to meet him one day and interview him for my youtube channel
Man I love this format! Thanks Jake 🙏
The full art gengar from twilight masquerade would be a sweet pickup. Some crown zenith packs to rip would also be awesome on a $100 budget.
This is true
Very nice idea. 1 month waiting for the next episode is killing me 😂
Jake your videos are so goated, we appreciate all you do!!! ❤
I appreciate you!!! ❤️
i super super appreciate this. i'm new to the hobby (i started collecting early december 2024) and while i went hard the first two months, i now need to slow down because of other financial goals and my new goal is $100 a month for the next couple of months. thank you for this!!!

Love the role playing man! You had me for a sec lol

I started 2 months ago, and I love the fact that I am able to enjoy some of the arts from the common cards
Right!?!?! There’s so many amazing artworks on commons what’s your favorite currently!?!? :)
Yess awesome video 😁💥
Honestly from a resale stand point, I think you could make your money back plus some with the cards you collected. Love the video
As a new collector, i first picked up Shrouded as my first buys because it was the cheapest. Gonna run up the price on the golurk lol
This pretty solid collection. Myabe one day youll have a youtuber pokemon collection 🎉

I too watch twicebakedjake while being twice baked
Let’s gooo!! Been watching for years. You have helped me tremendously. Thank you Jake
Enjoyed the concept! Keep these coming, please!

Baby shinies
Cards with 3+ pokes
Common legendaries
Reverse holos!
Collecting pokes that my favorite gym leader used !
Don't give into FOMO
“My first sealed item” has thousands of dollars of sealed product in the background
You obviously didn't watch the video. he is ACTING as a new collector who has a limited budget of 100 dollars per month to collect.
@@WarLordZoro you obviously didn’t get my joke, I know he was acting
This made me laugh really good thanks Jake 😂
I literally decided go get into pokemon cards today and then I find this video lol perfect timing
I love this! 😁❤️

As soon as I saw that GolurkV I was lying under the table laughing 🤣
There are so many graded cards under $20! Do a $100 graded challenge!
LFGO MY FAVORITE SERIES IS BACK!!
Great series!

put these in a playlist if you haven't already :)
For $100 i think you got alot of great cards for the binder! Especially the last one 🤗
Nice collection. Welcome to the hobby!
I love how in character he gets 😂
I think it’s great, I just wish you put the cards in a pro binder 😂
Not the 3 ring binder! Nooooo Jake!
We're on a tight budget!
This guy is literally the chill guy meme but of Pokémon collecting 😂
Everyone needed this video

This was literally how I started collecting over a year ago. I literally bought the same exact cards
Great video!
I think it would be cool to see how far your $100 collection can take you. For example, selling a pull to fund your collection further.
If you like shrouded fable and astral radiance you can have a robust collection
I literally just pulled the Charizard SIR from OF from that same tin today 😂 they restocked those at the local GameStop

Gotta upgrade that 3 ring binder to a Vault X... That's my only complaint LoL. This is gonna be a cool series to watch.
He's trying to teach kids with no money
@jacobchickering well, he is teaching kids "Bad Binder Behavior" LoL 😂
I been collecting Pokemon cards for the past three years or so
i had to scoop that Alola Friends Chinese card after seeing this 😂 the price went up a touch. we will see what happens to it next
