  • Notre Dame has produced a ton of big time college players and NFL prospects, but Jerry Tillery made history at Notre Dame, was expected to be an elite defensive lineman and became a first round draft pick. Sadly, his career has not gone as expected and he was recently cut. Today, we will tell the entire Jerry Tillery story and why it's not over yet, enjoy!

He didn't go to practice that the Chargers marked for "personal reasons". He was upset that he wasnt gonna have a bigger role with Austin Johnson injured mainly just cuz he wasnt producing and was horrendous against the run, evidenced by the fact they elevated Fehoko(who played good against the run last game against the 49ers).His relationship with his teammates and coaching staff was getting tense as well. Wish him luck as a Chargers fan tho

Always found his weight fluctuation weird. He was huge at ND and once he got to LA his neck shrank and he lost a bunch of weight. I don't think he ever bought in or took it seriously.

Worst run defender since being drafted, pass rush was horrible(showed some flashes 1ce every 3 games) was more interested in traveling, and other things but, thought he deserved starting role because of draft status. Fan base wanted him cut in the off-season, but he was TT golden child, for some dam reason.

Dude wasted his potential as an offensive tackle. He wanted to be a defender and that screwed him in the long run.
Tillery would have never went to LSU because he wanted to leave the state. He was also super into ND. LSU also only wanted him as an offensive lineman.

His biggest problem was that he wasnt a defensive player lmaoo he went to a independent football school and had a physical advantage in college on D especially DL in the NFL its about alot more then just being bigger and stronger you gotta be good with your hands you gotta be more technical and switch up your rushing style it's bad enough if your one dimensional but if your not even really good at that one dimension what value do you really bring?
He was honestly better off stay at O Line and waiting to develop more
