As of today (27.04.2019) Caldwell has actually updated their app so that you can use the USB outlet as well. Just get a regular printer cable and an adapter to plug it into your phone's USB-port and it shall work as long as you have the latest version of the software. They don't advertise it agressively because they don't supply them with complementary USB-cables yet.
Alternatively for those who may not be able to pick a lighting kit up, you can use construction lights added on the normal light covers or a few feet above it.
You should do a video on building a dart catch like yours. It's probably really simple, but I'm sure it's something people would like to know/could make use of.
Excellent. I hand load for hunting up here in Alaska. I like that it does not have a sleep function as I often switch rifles to keep the barrels cool. Minimizing muzzle velocity variation takes out any human error in shooting groups. Muzzle blast can affect the chronograph, so it should be >=15 feet from the muzzle. An inexpensive laser bore sighter helps determine exactly where the rifle is pointing in setup. Level bubble should be used in setup. Accuracy is +/- 0.03% so if every shot is exactly 3,000 fps, reading will vary ~2991 to 3009 fps.
I have this Crono as well and it is very nice. The battery thing is my only complaint, it drains 9v quickly even if you do not forget to turn it off. I rewired mine to accept 6 rechargeable AAs.
I bought one to test my pcp guns and it proved to be a very valuable tool. It answers questione like "how much power does it really have? What is the power curve? How many deadly shots can it fire? Do different pellets make a difference? Do the guns perform as expected?" One pcp gun appeared to have lost 25 % of it's power within a year due to my mistreatment. If you store the gun with the trigger set ready to fire, then the gun will lose power. A pcp gun has a spring behind the trigger that will hit a valve to release pressure for a shot. That spring loses power fairly quick when it is kept under constant pressure. If it hits the valve with less power, it releases less air and you get weaker shots (but more shots per fill)
1/4-20, 1/4 Is bolt diameter (1/4 inch), 20 is threads per inch. So for example if you had a bolt that was 1/4-16 it would not thread into the 1/4-20 female insert. A 1/4-20 insert or nut requires a 1/4-20 bolt to match up for proper thread fit up.
You should even got a cable with it. The cable has the 4 Pin type, which has a ground , left ,right and a microphone connection. As a default on the android phones you have to go into the settings of your phone And then go into apps and notifications, and then go into the Caldwel app and then go into permissions and allow whatever was denied and then it will work. You don’t need to buy a light kit go to Walmart or any automotive store and buy the little $2.00 Palm size 24 LED hanging work light it will have a little flip up hook on the back of it and they hold two AA batteries or it might be two AAA batteries. Just put a rubber band around the white shade and slip the LED light under the rubber band that will give you all the light you need so for about four dollars and two rubber bands it will work just as good as the light kit
if you prime a helios with a rivel round and carfully loa 3 x ahot dartis in the musle and then fire it is a shot gun

The audio cable indeed needs to be a so-called TRRS-type. But these newer ones actually work through the USB-port as well. You just need a cable or converter to be able to hook up to your phone.
Thanks a lot!! , something new to try fix my crony -> app interface. Ive given up on the iOS app.

@@johannel1895 my phone is an Android, so I cannot comment on the iOS version. But I had a long USB cable laying around so I just needed a converter to USB-C and I was able to hook it up to the phone with zero problems. I am sure there are specific cables as well that have the correct ends on the cable itself.
Just ordered one tonight and then saw your video. I did not order the lighting kit, but I will use it outdoors during daytime. Will that suffice for readings? Thanks in advance.
Have you considered soldering a 9v battery clip to an adapter socket. You could then clip it onto the battery connector on the chrono and plug a 9v adapter into it for mains power.
I hadn't...until 3 or 4 other people suggested this in the comments before you. One ever provided a link to an item on Amazon that does exactly that. I bought it. ;)
I’ve got one of these for a slingshot that fires a 10 mm lead ball 250 to 300 ft./s they tend to be a bit unwieldy and I need to build a timber box because I’m worried I’m gonna put a lead ball through the face of the chronograph and so I tend to hold back and hesitate giving it full power….
May want to buy a Apple lightning to 3.5 mm headphone adapter (Amazon sells them). Plug the 15-foor cable onto the phone jack of the adapter and the other of the adapter into the lightning socket of your phone.
So I'm new to nerf i went to a swap meet to get my first guns and I picked up a Vulcan, Apollo, Artemis, and a Kronos. what kind of gear should i keep an eye for?
I'm not sure I understand the question. It sounds like you are asking "Is it possible to add a stock and a longer barrel to a Nerf blaster." But that can't be what you are asking because of course that is possible. So what are you asking?
Well the switch shot is a pistol style blaster so i’m asking if theres some kind of mod kit that adds a rifel stock instead of a pistol grip and well a longer barrel becouse the switch shot has no barrel attachtment point
There looks to be a USB Printer port, next to the audio/data jack for plugging in your phone. Can this be plugged directly into a PC? (Maybe we can power the entire thing with a bog-standard USB phone charger...)

Pardon me if I appear to have missunderstood but how do you get true muzzle energy from an air rifle if you have to shoot them from 15 feet away? Or doesn't it matter?
@Captain_Xavier If you want your chronograph to be wired why don't you look for a powerbrick at goodwill that's 9vdc out and splice it into the battery terminal?
@@CaptainXavier I am mildly surprised you hadn't thought of that yourself seeing as you do a lot of electrical mods. Biggest issue would probably be finding a 9v power brick.
Lol damn @punkboyblue beat me to it. You could even splice a 9v test lead to the end of the cord (be mindful of polarities since it's meant to go the other way) so you can just clip it in with no mods to the unit itself and can still run it off batteries in the field. If you find a compact enough brick you could probably even store it in the battery compartment.

I still need a lighting kit. I bought 6 flashlights from dollar tree instead. It works but doesn’t always read

A 1/4-20 insert or nut requires a 1/4-20 bolt to match up for proper thread fit up.
One could assume then if you changed out your florescent tubes with 6500k led replacement tubes, you shouldn't need the lighting kit.
I wanted to shoot inside with the basic kit. I just put 2 battery operated LED flashlights on top of white diffusers and it worked just fine.
Excellent, that clears up a lot of questions and gives me hope for my chronograph.
1/4 - 20 refers to the thread size 1/4 inch diameter with 20 threads per inch. This is standard 1/4" bolt thread. - BANGARANG!

Get a nerf chronobarrel, they work pretty well for the price
$85 is expensive???

Yes i was talking about the one from the wii game

Sadly no. The USB port is for "manufacturer use only." Presumably used to calibrate it.

Is there a list explaining the errors: especially #10
#10? As far as I know there is not error #10. Just 2 and 3.
You need to make a gun like your mini gun with the new perses

has anyone had the issue where the chrono will read the first shot low and shots after that seem normal?
