I got one of these and the first thing I replaced was the silly tripod. I put a Manfrotto quick release camera base on the chronograph and use it on top of my Manfrotto tripod...so much better and able to withstand the wind in my area. Thank you for this video as it is very helpful.

I have this chronograph. The tripod was broken, but I had an extra camera tripod, so not a problem.
First shots I fired through it was 75gr 5.56 and all my numbers where around 2850, which sounds realistic for a heavy bullet.
The next week I shot the same ammo through the same gun and my readings were all around 2350. I thought this might be because I was using the phone app, although I do not know how that would effect the chronograph.
The next week I got around mid 2300s again, blamed it on the chrono being partially in shadow. I do not remember if it was, but it was possible.
Week 4, I took it to the range, made sure it was in full sunlight, and used the LEDs and my readings were back in the mid 2800s.
Week 5, shot PPU .308 WIN with 180gr bullets through and got velocities in mid 1800s. Other YT videos I have seen show this ammo getting around 2500-2600 fps with 20" and 22" barrels.
At this point I simply do not trust Caldwell chronographs. I am waiting to shoot my ammo through someone else's chrono to prove my doubts, before sending it back. I want some good data, because I want to reload and need to be able compare my reloads to factory ammo I currently shoot.

I bought the Caldwell premium kit after watching you use one . I had to use the long cable they give you because the Bluetooth wouldn’t pair with my iPhone. I used to shave with an electric shaver so I had a two pin shaver plug I bought from Woolworths back in the day so I could power it up.I wouldn’t be without it now whenever I buy a new batch of ammo I drag it out the bag . It’s more fun without them instructions.😬

Is there a guide to the mobile application and data processing? For example, I could not set the air temperature. After entering the weight of the bullet or the ballistic coefficient, the True MV value changes quite a bit ...

It must be fairly robust considering how you man handled it.

Nice review. Does it have any issue detecting smaller projectiles like .17? Any issues with the occasional unrealistic reading?
