Glacier National Park's July 2022 Artist-in-Residence, Rosalyn Gerstein, describes her past work and her residency at Glacier.
Roz is a portraitist who uses oil painting and documentary photography to capture the relationships between people and their environment. During her visits to national parks, she was particularly inspired by the strength and character of the women rangers she met-scientists, naturalists, trail builders and backcountry rangers. She highlighted their work and individuality in jobs historically perceived as “men’s work” during her time at Glacier.
