Dear Mr. Weller, Only minutes after I heard my dad had died, I found your message with this new song. It's beautiful, wise and very consoling. Thank you so much for sharing. Wish you many more good and creative years. Love, Jac.
Jac. Piepenbrock This is power of music. God bless you Jac.

@@lesleybrown6652 Hi l sorry about your dad so did Paul text u?
a really great song thank you Paul that make my day
Piece of beauty. Happy B-Day PW!
Instant classic
(This is my Thank You letter to Paul Weller. He'll probably never see it, but I started writing here, and made something that's like a great eulogy without any icky party-killer like death hovering over the homage to a great.. (and a eulogy's meaningless to the subject if he/she's dead..probab. Paul's creative spirit has inspired me throughout my life. I'm so grateful I was introduced to The Jam when I was around 12 by a friend who worked in a record store. I live in the US, and they weren't a household name. The Clash were known, but people here were listening to bands like Styx and Loverboy!!! I relish the fact that Paul Weller has always pushed himself in new directions. He never wrested on his laurels as a legend. I'm an visual artist, and people like Mr. Weller inspire me. I tried to make a pact with myself to create what I feel, and to never be known for one style., . If painting I do seems formulaic, I try something completely different; and that's exciting and rewarding. Office jobs are routines..creativity''s the opposite of being honored for consistency and reliability. Bands like the Rolling Stones were all those things, but sometime after the Some Girls album in '78, they stopped trying, in my opinion (The Beatles knew to quit when they did; so did Seinfeld; but not the (initially brilliant The Simpsons).
Below is more of my tribute to Paul Weller, who never gave up on himself as a writer/musician.
Anyway, Paul, thanks for great music; and always doing your own thing, and forging new musical pathss within Pop, Punk and Rock and folk and even made lounge music great at times(.., as opposed to stars like Madonna who "reinvented herself" every few years with a new wardrobe and..why even mention Madonna at all...Well that's what the Autotune generation was inspired by. It's a generation where you don't have to sing to be a famous singer.David Bowie may have done the charmeleon thing, too (and sometimes it seemed forced and disingenuous, and was known to "borrow" styles of music from others...but he was still brilliant and iconic. There were lots of hits (and misses), but you moved on; always open to different directions. I can't imagine the amount of confidence it takes to leave the legendary Jam. Neil Young and Eric Clapton moved on from bands, too, and progressed. I'm kind of glad I'm not a huge celebrity (it could still happen). I just think fame and money and comfort would have destroyed my creativity.. just imagine leaving on of the greatest groups of 70's and because of "arrogance", you chucked it all to start The Style Council (and I'm sure the reviews of that first album was akin to treason to his fans and supportive critics. As a fellow artist said to me, about art, to be true to it, you have to have a mantra in your head.."If they don't like it, fuck 'em." I'm glad there are still heroes out there. They're not gods, they're humans; but they command respect without asking for it.
I lost my wife 2 weeks ago, I can't thank you enough PW
Love this. LOVE IT. Weller is leaving us a body of work that frankly... he's up there with Dylan, Young, McCartney, Cohen, Mitchell, Bowie etc etc. The depth of his work... the breadth.... we'll never see his like again. It ain't over yet. Bless you Paul.
Tim Hall up there...? He’s long since passed them...

Happy 60th Birthday to this brilliant musician 💙X
Yet another absolute beauty from the best singer/songwriter ever (in my opinion).
Happy Birthday Modfather !
I listened to this album (along with Ronnie Lane's finest) as I was walking in the countryside and it was so perfect I could have cried. And I'm an 'orrible 53 year old geezer.
Simply beautiful. Best song to date...Love to see this covered by Mazzy Star...
As long as you keep making music
There will be blue skies
Love u Mr Weller 🥰
Beautiful...mr weller never fails.one of the best song writer britain as produced..what a back catalogue he as got. Amazing ..and lets be honest if ed sheeran wrote this. It would be number 1 everywhere......happy birthday mr weller..and keep producing fantastic tunes.............genius!!!!
If he was given all eternity ed sheeran could never write anything as beautiful as this.
I don't think it gets much better than this....
Replying to my own comment so apologies, however 40 years into his career and this can be argued to be amongst his best music 👏🏻
A true musical craftsman untouchable ... no one comes close ... 🌻⚘👌
Wow..this has to be Mr Weller's best tune. Tears and goosebumps ahead.
I got bacterial meningitis five years ago and was really poorly. This song really helped me through the post infection depression I had. Listening to it again is very bitter sweet. Beautiful song.
I lost my mum 3 weeks ago now! This song is just fantastic within my thoughts of her!!!! Beautifully made video in acoustics and vision!!! 😎👌 Iv loved everything Paul has ever done!!! But true meanings is everything I feel... Now!!!! 🤗 ✨✨✨✨💞🔥💞
it's not in the way, it's not in your hair
you won't find it under your chair
it's not in a hollow, or pieces of wood
i don't see it anywhere, no more
and as long as the wind blows
the tides flow - along
under a blue sky, on a new wave
in a NEW World, Today.
it's not in a holler, not in a scream
you won't find it under your feet
it's Always INSIDE YOU, as Old as the Sun
it's Holding the ANSWERS, as New as the Young
and as long as the wind blows,
the tides flow - along
under ablue sky, on a new wave
in a NEW WORLD, Today.
crippling aspects of life, with no rhyme
nor that of reason, or that of time
to find True Meanings and Patterns in Things,
Symbols in making these Moments Exist
and as long as the wind blows
the tides flow - along
under a blue sky, on a new wave,
in a NEW WORLD, Today .

Happy birthday to one of this Country's great musicians.
let me correct you, *world's great musicians
A wonderful song full of hope and empathy. Will add to the Best Music of 2018, and lite rock playlists on the World United Music channel and blog. Will also include in a future podcast of the Minstral show. Happy Birthday Paul! 8-)
"lite rock"?? :(
Well what do you call it?
Just a good song. I think all genres and related "playlists" need to die.
You sound like such a bitter troll!
Well... you got a point there, but I like this. It's not A Town Called Malice, or My Ever Changing Moods, and the classics you mentioned, but what is? Anyway, his last few albums have been quite interesting, and One Tear,Satellite Kid, Hopper, New York are very good off his last one A Kind Revolution.
Paul Weller is king and will never lose the crowd, happy birthday modfather, i can't wait the new album.
What do you think are his best solo albums?
Vern Pascal Stanley Road may be the best, but my favourite is Will Wood especially for "Shadow Of The Sun". But i liked the last "A Kind Of Revolution" too, all the discography is amazing, he always are thinking something new, go ahead!
Thanks. I haven't heard any of his solo albums prior to 22 Dreams, but I got this great collection Fly On The Wall Cheap-3 cds of b-sides-remixes-outtakes and there is some terrific jazz and Soul and Folk stuff, especially on Disc one.
New Weller Album out September 14th-New Sir Paul-The 7th & new Costello in October. Good fall musically speaking!
I just picked up the Wild Wood Deluxe and what is amazing to me is and I've just listened to the 2nd bonus disc,( which is worth the purchase in itself) is how he was able to completely change his voice to sound just like Steve Winwood. The Traffic were great ,and he was able to come in and take over where they left off. This doesn't sound anything like The Style Council, and they didn't sound anything like The Jam.
Only this man can keep making songs that replace my favourite one with a new favourite one.Have been a fan for over 30 years,Keep going mate and keep making great music.
I've just found this song and what an amazing song absolutely brilliant Mr Weller
happy birthday paul and thank you for the new music - touching song!
so soulful and just connects with something deep within , thank you.
Happy Birthday you absolute legend. The beauty in this piece gives me shivers
The legend that is Mr Paul Weller takes us to a place we only have in dreams. We here it in his music how blessed are we to have such a talented man alive to take us to these places. 👏👏👏👏
Love Weller when he's in pastoral mode, this album is going to be beautiful.
Most beautiful autumnal music. I've been waiting for so long for a song with such feeling. Heliocentric had a lot of beauty to it too. If anyone could recommend something as beautiful/haunting i'd appreciate it. Bless.
Nowhere near but close in feeling is Beck's album Morning Phase. Especially liked Wave.
A beautiful light always, in the wild wild woods. Happy birthday!
Sublime
The three folk that have given this a 'thumbs down' deserve a good slap with a rotten fish...nuff said.
Back to what he does best...touching peoples hearts. A beautiful song. Happy birthday and bring on the next 33 and a third. Peace.
The man is magnificent. This and 'Long Long Road', just tear me apart with their beauty. ❤
tonight, this lyric is as the difference between the literal and the power of the actual
Happy Birthday!! Thanks for all the happy memories seeing you live since 1982, its been a wicked journey so far ... Peace ✌🏻
I could listen to him all day every day ,well I have for the last 40 years
Tommy Flet yea ?however that is not strictly true now is it ?mr.flet?
My first experience of seeing him was in 1978, and I can remember it like yesterday. I can recall the whole day from the moment I got up, meeting my mates in our finery and feeling the excitement of going to see him and the band. I'm 55 now, happily married and a father, with a respectable career, yet I still feel the same when I go to see him. I'm an impressionable 16 year old again who still loves his music and watching him perform. Many happy returns Mr Weller, keep on rockin.
It's odd how you say went seeing him and the band at 18 instead of saying The Jam,you are allowed to mention them his best 50 songs are all Jam songs!
Gus/ Paul Weller 1958-1982
Gus. You lost me at respectable career!
@@warrenbaldwin1385 fuck off
It’s a beautiful record. It’s in my head and veins already.
Same here. Just heard it today and it had me crying the first time I listened. I hope this is a taste of things to come.
David Newman,It's shit just like everything he's ever done since The Jam split up!
@@warrenbaldwin1385 fuck off you parrot
Nice, but.
I think it it's words sat on top of a guitar sequence, rather than a song from the heart, where words and guitar/melody just come out and the song Mk1 is written quick.
A few tricks to make it give it the feel that it has. (which most artists do)
Very melodic, and shows his voice off.
It's nice, and i'll enjoy it, but that's my opinion/comment of it, and i'm a big fan of him before anyone thinks i'm being negative.
Why do we all have to get old, become wiser, and slow down?....... I look forward to when I can download and install iman to myself and be 23 again..
absolutely beautiful new track , you are just getting creatively better with time ... looking forward to hearing the new album. Happy Birthday Paul ! enjoy your day
The best artist in Britain today
Seriously....
Who's better? Who's still as relevant?
With such a long pedigree?
milliewray Paul Weller is a sell out and backstabber. How he treated the other two members of The Jam was disgraceful and how he has nothing to do with them still to this day shows what a nasty bloke he is. He hasn't made a half decent song in over 20 years, look at his discography and chart entries, he is lucky to get in top 50 the last two decades. Music is boring. MOD FATHER MORE LIKE NOD FATHER ZZZzzzzzzzzzz
I think you're 100% right mate
But i still stand by my original remark
Crocky Crock hes good friends with Foxton and Foxton featured on his 2010 album wake up the nation so not sure how you come to the conclusion he hasn't anything to do with him
he didnt owe them a living... made them famous and few quid then got bored creatively
Well, strictly speaking he had 8 top 20 hits in the last 20 years in the UK and all his albums went into the top 10.
happy birthday...
Top lyrics and sound love it happy 60th paul hope u got u b day card dxx
Superb song by one of the best singer songwriters to ever come out of Britain! Top man. Looking forward to the next time he plays down in the deep South West of England!! :)
Happy birthday Paul 60 then mate bloody hell what a journey since 77. Love and kisses Modfather
Sounding so good Paul - beautiful track.
Aspects , great Music 🎼

Very Happy 6oth Birthday to PW, what a tune. Total class, forever progressing, moving forwards and producing truly beautiful music, can not wait for the new album .
Beautiful song! Uplifting and full of reflection. Plenty more to come, he's only just started.
Feliz cumpleaños, Paul. And thank you for this beauty! Never stop, please, never stop.
Welkerwellerable,he stopped being a song writer in 1982 you simpleton! Comments like yours insult The Jam!
What are you doing here then?

Buon compleanno Paul
Well ........ that's my Funeral tune sorted! ... thanks 'fella
We chose our music very well,we are proud of Paul Weller, happy birthday to the govner
Heard this for the first time this morning as I woke up to a different music station....Had to copy down some of the lyrics so I could be sure to find it, in case the presenter didn't credit it....Surprised it was Paul Weller......Strange, haunting and beautiful...Does it come from an album ?
Dear Mr Weller, how must you feel? I just read the comment below, people open up to you. Complete strangers but in awe. But some say dreadful things and others beautiful. It’s part of life’s rich tapestry. I join them now, and I had a year beyond all years, just. I to am writing an album. My songs are on here. The best has yet to come, but my God I simply can not stop playing this track. Man every one really dug Wild Wood..but this my friend sits there. You sat there like many writers with an inanimate guitar and one day this didn’t exist and then “under a blue sky on a new wave” it was born. I don’t know a great deal about legacy’s. But your children’s, children will well up when they here this. It’s so utterly beautiful. It cradles you, and from me somewhere in the deepest depths it makes me feel like no other song, it’s 12.35 am and for about three weeks I have been trying to write a hook for my song. Each one of your words however sits like musical sonnets as if they were meant to always align just perfectly. Peace to you my friend. Your a style Guru.
A great genius of invention and musical experimentation, which for good reason of the international artistic scene still offers fantastic and refined sensations and emotions.
Thank you, Mr Weller!!!!
An absolute classic here & have a happy 60th birthday Paul....
Happy birthday from another born 25th may
What a great tune 😁
Beautiful song with a great video - love the focus on his lyrics, so often overlooked in the transient world of music today. Quality music by a quality artist.
Happy 60th Birthday Paul, A beautiful new song, thank you.

Have not looked forward to a new Weller album this much in a while. A kind of Revolution was fantastic, True Meanings sounds like it will surpass it - pure quality - Weller just gets better with age.
I was brought up on The Jam/Paul Weller,Oasis,The Clash, ect. But The Mod-father has still got it. Song like his will always live on
Wow. Another Weller gem!
Some people ask as Weller still got it listening to this song answers that simply brilliant!
Great song! Wishing you a very happy birthday all the way from Los Angeles, Guv! Please come play out here again soon, my daughter wants to see another show.
Thanks heaps. Good melody, lyrics, music and visuals. A clip I will replay over and over.
It’s brings tears to my eyes .
The most connected melody for me , it touched my heart 💕💕
Happy Birthday, Mr. Weller, somewhere in Málaga tonight I'll have a drink for your birthday as I've been doing for decades, I hope to do it for 60 more years, love you.
What a song! So many layers of artistry! It also happens to match the vibe of today for me so much--Wonderful in many, many respects! Add to that an anticipation of tomorrow never before known in my adult life? I hardly know what to do so I will just drift to sleep........
Happy 60th Paul. Still as gorgeous as ever and just as brilliant!
He has no peers. Genius.

For all of us who were almost teenagers when we first loved all of his great songs with The Jam and The Style Counsil, this comes as a very speciall gift. One of the many, all along the way..from Greece.
