Thanks for the info brother, I just bought a rod this week and I’m looking forward to getting out there and learning how to fly fish. I’ve been wanting to get into it for a while now and looks like i made a good choice for the weight and length of rod. I bought a 5 weight 9 foot rod not a top of the line rod but should be a great starter rod until I figure things out. Great video brother!
I think determining the first rod has to do more with what you are fishing for and what size fly you will be throwing for it. I'm in agreement of you are talking about all around Trout rods. But, for bass and light salt I'd pick a 6 for a good all around rod.
