The price of the above is still prohibitive to most and the IC 705 is around £1399 even with its cut down receivable frequencies, people will end up using an SDR Radio which may be fantastic but is let down by appalling/lack of SW from the vendors- especially if you are a Mac user.
@@steveblanchard7293 I'm about to hook up a new SDR. If that's good, I'll use a second one for trunk scanning, which this radio cannot do. If there's a problem with that, this radio is my Plan B. Far as I know the proper software is available for my Linux system. If so, your Mac is also supported.

The icom icr 705 is as sensitive as the 8600 plus portable Bluetooth GPS for half the money
