Good to know information on the bike, thank you Richie. Now waiting for videos from the trails. I especially like your videos when you're on your bike riding through the woods and through the water and whatever else you're riding through. Appreciate what you do.
It's great to see that this bike is such an amazing "piece of technology"! Very interesting review! Thanks very much! I always love seeing the view from the camera mounted on the front of your bike. I feel then like I explore these beautiful and unique (railroad track) trails myself and ride a bike at such an amazing speed! I wouldn't have a chance to do it in real life so I appreciate your videos.
Be careful Richie. My son is an avid mountain bike rider and his carbon frame broke twice. Good thing was that it was under warranty both times and the shop he got it from was amazing!! I’m happy to hear you’re happy with this bike and I look forward to your videos while you’re riding!! Many blessings Richie 🙏🥰
Richie, I have never considered riding an ebike until watching your videos. I turned 60 last September and I am finding that my knees burn with pain just pedaling on flat ground. As an avid hiker well into my late 40s it broke my heart as my hips began to fail. Bicycling affords me a chance to experience the world once more and my hips don't notice; except when mounting my bike. I may need to switch to a women's frame for ease in mount/dismounting.
Absolutely phenomenal 😮 Love your knowledge and sharing like you do, Richie. 😊 And riding on the forest paths aTREAT!! 😮 Stay well and be safe 🙏 ❤️ Texas Nana 🤠 Psalm 91
Richie, I watched the whole video even though I didn't really understand much. Being old as dirt 67 now bikes were simple in my day. I wish I could keep up with you but I have SO many injuries walking is good as it gets for me...and ThatsZzzzzz tough too! Love your videos! 👍🏻 So...Keep On Truckin...and Biking! Avid mountain bikers are some of the strongest and enduring folks on this earth plain . They deserve a full proof unit to depend on when ur pedaling thru the mountains . Thanks rfb for the details .
Appreciate this RIchie..been trying to narrow down which one to get since IMHO they're too spendy for me to get the wrong one, take a loss on it, and have to do it again. I'm old and old school, all mine are still 26"..and no motor except for a 500w kit I haven't got around to installin' yet. After a couple of injuries and 2 cancer wars, I'm ready for a wee bit'o help with the hills ..I have a bad habit of forgetting how old and busted up I am now, and goin' out farther than I feel like pedaling back 😎👍
My son is looking for a bike and I’m sending this video to him. He was looking at some site called Hey Bike. Pretty cool bike. I like it as well. Have fun and enjoy today!
I think these bikes are just too damn expensive. I really wanted one a while ago but I'm still riding my 1980s Schwinn Mesa Runner mountain bike lol... I just knew I was going to win the one that Richie was give it away, but that didn't happen lol
Trek should be compensated you for your reviews, I'm still riding my Trek 9500 I purchased back in 1996 for $1200.00 (with upgrades) 12 to 14 grand gave me whiplash when you showed the cost but if you use the sh#@ outta it so I guess the cost is justified. Great video as always Richie!
For anyone looking to get into ebikes it’s also worth checking out Giant e-bikes powered by Yamaha motors. Yamaha has been making e-bike motors for over 2 decades. They are super reliable and a great power-plant for e-bikes! Looking forward to watching this; thanks bro!
Just came across your channel. Great review of the bike. I am considering the same model, but the alloy version because I have been on a couple carbon frames that broke without notice. It's going to be aluminum for me from now on as the last break resulted in a 100k overnight stay in hospital. Your take on the t-type transmission makes me want that version, as I have snapped so many chains under load while changing gears.I rented the trek rail this last summer for a mountain bike trip in alaska and it out performed my more powerful bikes that have Bafang M600 and M620 motors.
the AirWiz is for riders who may experience extreme altitude and temp fluctuations from top to bottom and or travel from region to region as air pressure and altitude can dramatically affect your shock and tire pressures. For tubeless set ups on hook-less rims pressure shifts can have severe consequences. if you ride in mostly the same climate altitude you wont get a lot of use other then showing it off to people who dont have it.
Hello Richie, excellent bike and very good Review, but I have a question about the transmission, what is the name of the accessory that is connected directly to the battery to make the changes, I know that the transmission model is sram xo axs but I have not seen the accessory that connects to the battery for sale, with what reference would it be ordered. In case that part gets damaged?
That one is out of my price range LOL. I'm 52 and I'll have to stick with my Trek Top Fuel 7. I might get to upgrade once this youngin finishes her college. Great videos. Keep them coming.
I love your channel and MTB is my favorite hobby. I’m not a fan of E-bikes because I enjoy the grind getting up hills on my own. However, that being said I may change my mind when I get to your age.
Shifting under load is a game changer for ebikes. I love that jailbreak tuner. The governor has always been the reason I wouldn’t consider these types of bikes. Thanks
Hey bro. Thanks for the review. The guys you mentioned are not Russian, they're Polish and they were talking mostly positive about the new rail (except the price). Translating the part you put here: one of them said it's time to change his (older) rail for the newer one as it was more "aligned" to him. Cheers.
A great video brother, Thank you for the informations, I bought Trek rail 9 two months ago and I love it so far except that rattling sound on rough trails, I still don’t know is it from the battery or the motor ? Couple of videos I did research about it some say battery some say motor ! 😢 It’s annoying, otherwise I love the bike Again thank you 🙏
Also, the reason they spec XO instead of XX is because XO is aimed at the more aggressive/physically demanding side of riding, while XX is more for lightweight riding. The biggest difference between XX and XO is that XX has Carbon cranks and a lighter weight rear derailleur while the XO has aluminum cranks and a heavier derailleur
Hey is there a reason you changed motors 3 times? Did they break or have issues and on average how many miles did each last? Also what’s the cost of each motor replacement?
@@jailbreakoverlander 4500 miles is pretty good, you must ride a lot, I was worried about longevity but I guess I don’t have too. So instead of overhauling the motors you just choose to replace with a new one, do you know much it cost roughly? Bosch has updated the gen 4 with the smart system so there is hope once I’m done with the first motor I can get the new one with the connection to your phone features.
Do you know much about converting a regular mountain bike with a hub motor or what not? I’ve got one with a little four stroke on it but silence would be nice at times.
I got one of those headlight/tail light with the little wheel/generator that goes on the back wheel if you think that might look better! Nice upgrade Bro.
Nice job with the video Richie. As a current Pivot Firebird owner I can attest to how strong carbon fiber bars are. Plenty on 4 foot drops to flat when downhilling, ZERO issues. We live in a world of materials science. I am curious what your bike weighs? Thanks. Tom

Keep it under 100km

Totally agree with brakes. What exact models would you recommend? Would you do front only or front and back? Thanks
What size did you go with. Medium or Large?
I’m 5’10” with 32” inseam. I went with a medium. Mine should be in in about 10 days.
medium 5'9" 30 inseam its perfect a lil tall actually lol

Emtb is my thing. Your transmission is the best man. I usually go for sram gx, or shimano slx. I put the $ into suspension. Sweet rig though man.
You should check our the TRP DHR Evo brakes as a replacement for the Srams. Way more power, easier to bleed, and they’re super quiet
Also, the reason they spec XO instead of XX is because XO is aimed at the more aggressive/physically demanding side of riding, while XX is more for lightweight riding. The biggest difference between XX and XO is that XX has Carbon cranks and a lighter weight rear derailleur while the XO has aluminum cranks and a heavier derailleur
if I swap out srams brakes Ill go back to shimao XTR srams are STILL loud as heck after 8oo miles
Hey is there a reason you changed motors 3 times? Did they break or have issues and on average how many miles did each last? Also what’s the cost of each motor replacement?
4500 miles easier to swap out motor than have trek take it for weeks to replace bearings.

XO is a bit more robust and that's a "trail bike". XX is really for race day bikes. Sram for drivetrains, Shimano for brakes.
