What mix did you use for the fireplace?
For the finished result my guess is 3 parts lommel sand and one part cement ..
bricklaying is with 3 to 3,5 parts riversand 0/2 and one part cement

No added pigment for structural mortar .. this will get jointed up in the desire colour later on
