    My father:
Preds season ticket holder for 20 years....I definitely remember games on Tuesday nights with only 10,000 in the seats....without a doubt Pekka is the backbone of the organization's entrenchment and adoration in the community. Last night was an emotional experience because somehow, especially for those of us who have been in those seats for a generation now, Pekka became the bridge between a tenuous expansion fandom with little attention and respect to a respected and concrete fandom that is now able to claim a 2nd generation. Pekka enabled the fan base to feel it belongs in the NHL. Pekka enabled memories of attended games with my 7 year old to evolve into experiences with a now 27 year old young man who will one day take my grandkids. Pekka enabled the Nashville Predators to NOT be the Atlanta Thrashers.... the class, grace, dignity, and humility are just an added bonus!...thank you Pekka....for being all class, for being a competitive beast, for being the epitome of a role model, for being a Pred....for life!!!

That's a great post. Coming from a Hawks Fan, a Finn living in Chicago. Always admired Pekka and hated the Preds in the last few years too, haha.

It hurts me to see my favorite hockey player of all time leave the game I’ve grown up watching/loved my whole life. After meeting him, getting his autograph, and watching him play for my hometown Milwaukee Admirals, he’s the biggest reason why I got into the game of hockey and why I wanted to play the sport in the 1st place. I wish the Predators got him a Stanley Cup, he deserved it for all the hard work he put into the game along with his positive attitude towards the game/fans, retiring his number is the 2nd best thing they could’ve done for the guy. Goodbye Pekka, I along with the entire city of Milwaukee will never forget you. Thanks for the memories.

IT might have took him over 10 years but it was worth it because we clinched the spot and just because we only have a 14 percent chance winning the staley cup it is ALWAYS worth trying

  • @psynque

I'm from Finland and the way Nashville embraced Rinne has made me a fan. Not necessarily a fan of Preds but a fan of the people of Nashville.
Crazy to think that the last time I saw Rinne live he was sitting at the end of the bench as a sub Bäckström. Good man and a great career.

I'm going to miss watching this guy when he retires. I hope he retires as a Nashville Predator. I also hope he stays a resident of Nashville and middle Tennessee. He may be from Finland, but I think of him as one of us. Thank you Pekka for the dedication and professionalism you showed on the ice as part of the Nashville Predators. Thank you for your involvment in the community and to charities. And thank you for the excitement you've given us fans!!! I'd love to see Pekka's number 35 be retired by the organization as a thank you for all he done for this team.

Pekka was the man of this team. He had a great career with Nashville. One of the greatest goalies to ever to come from Finland. #FinnishFierce 🇫🇮 Looking at Pekka now, now that he has officially announced retirement, he did well. And for a goalie who never won a Stanley Cup, he deserved it more than any other goalie. Thank you Pekka, for everything you did for this team, I look forward to seeing your number retired here in Nashville.

All the highlight/tribute videos and you finally got the one I remember the most from the regular seasons: 0:54 it was icy on the roads, there were maybe 2k of us in the stands..we all got to move to the lower bowl and I got to see one of the most spectacular sequences of saves ever.

As a h.s. hockey player I got to witness this guy for almost 3 yrs in the minors.. ive seen many of em, including forsberg for 40 games when I moved back to milw, no one means what pekka means to us (when I say us I mean smashville and milwaukee).. my favorite memory isn't the Calder cup run in 06.. it was his conditioning stint in 17 I think.. he was so frickin quick.. me and my dad, who both watched him like I said when he was developing, watched a game 2gether live and were like, holy shiiiii, his reflexes are so quick and his compete is out of this world... thats y he's a 3x vezina finalist and our guys are in minors
