I have gone through five crates of 880 rounds of that since in the past 7-8 years. Great ammo for surplus. I have shot many 1 1/2" to less than 1" with my PU sniper with it. Also my Finnish Mosins like it also. Not as good as my hand loads obviously. But if still shot surplus, I would buy a couple more crates and store it. I found by sticking with modern hand loads my barrels got brighter over time. Especially the ones which were a little dark. Very strange I know. My M39 and with a couple friends M39's, I managed to get a couple sub MOA at 100y with this ammo through every M39 I have shot so far. Takes a few groups to get a good small group of five. That ammo is cheaper than it has been in years right now. My 1943 PU also has a Kazan scope on it.
Forgot to mention, I can open one package of this ammo and shoot an 1 1 /2" group from it. Then the next pack will shoot 1" and sometimes less. When I shoot a bad group, I set that bag aside and open the next one. I save the bags of large groups for friends to shoot. haha. After going through so many crates of it, I'm convinced I'm correct. Teh groups I talk about are typically five shot groups at 100y...
I sure like that rifle!! Have you tried any brass cased Albanian? I bought a can of that years ago haven’t shot any of it. Shot Czech silver tipped blue box ammo from my psl. 2.5 inch groups. 10 ears ago. Wow wheres the time gone?
314299 Shooting Channel I wonder if there is a way I could send you some? Is it legal send ammo over the border? I bought it to Mexican match it to see if I could get good accuracy with it. It’s basically pkm ammo I’m thinking.
Albanian looks like heck but is reliable. Folds in neck and shoulder, sloppy sealant. Backwards "3" and usually 80-90 dates. Some have shoulder too far forward, worn tooling. Lps ball, .217 brass case berdan corrosive. Good brass if you can get tula berdan primers. Pry primer out, take out decapping pin, load as normal.
Totally normal velocity. Steel core at that time. Brass cased 1950s is lead core hollow base, may be more accurate as base expands to fit rifling better.
Brass cased all went off for 50's ammo. .217 primer like Tula berdan. No brass excitement, splits etc. If you see chocolate colored steel case 1960 headstamp and nationalist codes glasses touching circles, it is only Chinese heavy ball made. No tip color. Kicks more.
I recently bought alot of this ammo here in Germany. It should be okay for fun shooting. Dealer told me it has corrosive primers. But hell its really cheap :)
That is Machine gun ammo I have it too not corrosive but also not intended for bench accuracy more like absolute reliability the condition is good to excellent and it shoots clean..I have a case of it same stuff was $199 free delivery so I had to have it but reality is not intended for single shot rifles...
That, to me, is odd,..when you look at the first grouping then the second group at about 1.5 inch,..I wonder what happened here, I mean same rifle, same shooter, and same day, then again, the third and forth groups are as 'bad' as the first.! Strange isn't it. Did you manage to duplicate the tight group again after this?
I think it's just a random thing. Even poor loads will occasionally print a good group, especially when only a few shots are fired. I seem to recall that one really needs to shoot seven shots to eliminate most of the chance of an false good group. Tens shots would be better still. And no I never did shoot another tight group with this stuff, however I did not shoot any more of it.
I know that the factory code is stamped at the top and the date is at the bottom. I've gotten a bundle of Chinese surplus ammo from a friend with a factory code number 231 on top of the rim and was manufactured December 1952.
Just bought some of this recently myself! Cheapest 7.62x54r I could find.
It has generally been the cheapest of the 7.62x54R on the market.
Believe it or not, certain Chinese 54R munitions are more accurate than Euro loaded rounds.

Anyone watching in 2020?? 😂
I certainly hope some do!
I am lol. Was considering if I should get spam can worth of ammo for my 91/30
@@qanda2581 it's probably getting a bit expensive now.
The days of the $99 spam cans is long gone
@@Coldcaster89666 There never were any $99 spam cans up here.

No I'v never used any Albanian ammo. I've never seen any for sale around here. I'd certainly give some a try if I came across some.

Similar results to what some other folks got from 1966 Chinese light ball in a 91/30: 7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinAmmo028.htm

looks like that ammo got hotter with age!!
If you say so Ian.

One wants this sort of ammo to be really cheap if the accuracy is just so-so. How much is it over there?
@@314299 its around 0,25€ per round. Thats actually cheaper then our 308 surplus service ammo.
@@fabianaechtle148 That's a pretty reasonable price.

Generally steel core ammo is not great in the accuracy department.
The Ftps was impressive.
The velocity is pretty much standard for light ball, certainly plenty of "punch".
Happy New Years.
Thanks, same to you.

@@314299 H'mmm OK then, that pretty much answers this. I too will accept that it is a 'one off!'
Good stuff
Pretty much what I was expecting.
What bullets does it have , flat base or boat tail ?
As this the Chinese version of the Soviet "LPS" ball it has a boat tail, steel core bullet.
I havn`t really got what does it mean 68 and 71. What age are these ammo?
They are either Factory #68 and 1971 or Factory 71 and 1968. So either 52 or 49 years old at the moment. Old enough either way.

Why are your ranges in yards?
The ranges I shoot at are laid out in yards. Besides 100 yards sounds better than 0.0568182 of a mile.

Good thing my expectations were low.
I suspect the rifle has issues.
Yes, it has "issues" when it is fed crap ammo. It shoots 1" groups with hand loads using Sierra 180 grain bullets.
