It's so funny how FUNimation tried to play up that DBZ was a Japanese show by throwing around random kana characters in these Ultimate Uncut ads, and they didn't even match what the translation was. The best one is with the line "The way it was meant to be seen" which read as "yanena raichiru noya rachimo henachi hoya yama tsuna monanaho" and it was all just garbled gibberish trying to pass as Japanese!!!

Well all know that DBZ was not for kids. It was censored here to be aimed towards kids and then they made the uncut for teen audiences. I mean franchise is primarily for male teens.
@@Shadowrulzalways DBZ absolutely is for kids, otherwise the Manga wouldn’t be in Shonen Jump. That said, 80s and 90s Japan had pretty loose restrictions on gore, especially compared to the US at the time. Even then, the anime does sometimes censor the Manga’s violence and brutality. Still for kids though, just different standards.
@@AlexanderDiviFilius Actually not, that is completely false. Shonen Manga and anime mainly target teenage boys. (12-18) Apparently you haven’t been keeping up with the facts lately. @@Shadowrulzalways Of Shonen Jump’s 12 - 18 age range, Dragon Ball targets the younger part of that bracket. When you compare it to some other series being publicised at the time, this is pretty evident. When someone stops being a child varies based on country, the institution which defines it, and so on. During Season 3’s broadcast, Funimation had to lightly edit the episodes in order to bring the dub to parity with the original in terms of content (plus, it didn’t mean editing every episode specially in addition to dubbing). They released both the TV version of these episodes and the uncut version on DVD. After Funi brought the dub to the same content per episode as the original, they wanted to keep up with the uncut DVDs, and so deliberately toned up the language on the uncut DVDs to justify them.
