I got one when it first came out. This is one well thought out messenger bag. I have not seen a bag with its capabilities. It's with me everywhere I go. The review is spot on. It travels well. Airplane ready. Soft with everything figured out for convenience. Extremely versatile. You nailed it with this review !!!
Thank you so much for doing this review. Excellent job as always! It was great seeing the bag loaded out, too! Keep up the great work! Jeremy @ Vanquest Team
The size of that bag you might as well carry a suitcase 🧳. More is not always better. When you stuff that bag full you’re not going to want to carry it.
Yeah that is nice. I carry a smaller Maxpedition sling pack to work/EDC in the truck etc and I do love it. It still looks new after two years but It's just a little small. I find I always need to bring shorts or a change of cloths along for after work and I don't want to carry another bag on top of that. This one would be perfect.
I fell into a timbuk2 messenger bag at a garage sale for 2 bucks! I was impressed with how heavy duty it is and found out the newyork bicycle messengers use it alot but it doesn't have near the organization capabilities your bag has
P 101, great review! I didn't realize I had subscribed and liked your videos already. LOL I'm with you, I love Vanquest. Its great to see yours and others reviews on these products to give me different perspectives, philosophies and usages for the same products. Reviewers like yourself help take the guess work out of purchasing a new product which in the end saves the consumer time and money. I'm always on the prowl looking at gear reviews and websites to help me refine my gear compliment. When I was in the Navy (back when ships were made of wood) we did what was called a P-38 seabag layout where you would inventory and inspect all your issued gear. I do this from time-to-time with my own gear because I have CRS (can't remember supplies) to help see what I have and what I need to upgrade or replenish. Can you believe I found a cool handheld CB radio I totally forgot I had in my BOB? In a way its sad I forgot I even had such a valuable piece of equipment which is why I periodically inspect all my gear. I've seen the 2.0 Messenger, but really like this 3.0 too. Keep up the good work!
I like the vanquest gear I have now, I can see the many uses for this bag. Great review. Thanks for reminding me to start buying Velcro backed pouches to attach inside
I've had difficult to open first aid kits and learned they're just a bad idea to keep around. Even when I only had a cut on my finger, struggling to retrieve and open a kit and not get blood on everything just makes the situation more aggravating. I would ditch that kit and get something simpler to access. You'll be very glad you did when you need to first aid yourself.
On a side note. I would like a video on how YOU apply Herb's Yellowstone Stropping compound to a leather strop. I kinda have just been winging it and I'm not sure if I'm doing it right!
I have yet to see a review that mentions this so maybe you can help me - I have a glock 26 and I'm wondering with a computer in the bag - does the firearm protrude / print? Not sure how thick the padding is in that concealed compartment! I'm just thinking if I set my bag down at the office in case that clears up why I care about it printing towards the back of the bag.
You said in the beginning of the video that you would not use it for a woods bag. Any reason why? I am trying to find a bag to take into the woods for day hikes, fat wood collecting, fire sitting, etc ... Do you think it would be good for this or have any other suggestions?
Aye Chris! Great review! Did you hang-up the RAP-DOM bag? Or have you used it in another configuration? Will you be doing a review on the Vanquest FATPAC GEN2 kits soon? They look like they would make the Jessica list. Thanks again for your reviews!
Hey Chris.....That extra strap would really help me out...I like messenger and sling bags, but when me and the dog are out in the woods, I have his gear as well. When bending down to care for him, the bag always flips around and makes getting back to hiking mode very awkward. This would really help...Thanks for the heads up !........PAPA DUKES
Thanks for the review! I like your RAPDOM T311 Tactical Messenger Bag better. I just watched the review on it. This is nice. Though I like all the other compartments the other bag has. I also like the waist strap on the Rapdom T311 better too.
Hey PM, I called Vanquest today, they are all out of these bags. Done. You have to go with the Gen 4 now, which adds $30-$40 or so to an already expensive bag. If you could recommend me one good messenger bag with the best cost to value ratio, which one would it be?
+cheap is tactical So every bag everywhere is a purse? Doesn't that get a bit old? I imagine you guys walking around with armfuls of stuff, scared to death someone's going to mistake you for a woman if you do something sensible like put it in a bag. Lol. Let it go. It's a type a bag that's been around a long time. I've never seen a woman pull a laptop out of her purse.
i have a question, i work in CDCR (corrections). im looking for a bag such as this one as a lunch bag, but also to hold important paperwork will this bag fit 2-3 meals? and i also have sweat proof ice packs. if you can let me know thank you.
Chris: you showed the strap and the cross-body strap so you can carry it on your bag. Was that the stock strap and sling or the add-on GT Cobra (www.vanquest.com/products/gt-cobra-sling-strap.html). Thanks. David
is this bigger than, and do you like this bag better then the RAPDOMT311? comparisons vid possibly? just got paid and was ready to pull the trigger on the rapdom-t311, but I can wait if you were going to compare the two. great vid as always Chris. thanx for the update.
+PREPAREDMIND101. Got it! thanx Chris. just curious what category you would put the t311 in? since I don't carry a laptop with me everywhere "just my phone and tablet, tablet and concealed weapon," I think the rapdom would be the best bang for the buck, for my needs. thanx again for the top notch reviews, and all the time and effort you put into them for us viewers.
Forgot to ask, do any of our posts get possible selection for the Jessica X giveaways? I usually carry a small axe as well as a good chopper but it is nothing like the Jessica X. The logs were crazy huge that the guys reviewed when using Jessica X! If I ever end up in knee deep snow instead of the swamp down here, I am beginning to believe that a big chopper would be a better choice than an axe. And who knows, I might even prefer to carry Jessica X over an axe down here. Maybe I can win one and give it a try before I buy.
This is a sweet bag! I may have to pull the trigger on this one even at $130. I spend far more time in a urban/suburban area than in the woods. I need to grow up and spend my available cash for where I spend most of my time vice woodland items. Nice to have both sets of gear though. Thanks for showing us this one Chris Tanner!
Good review Chris. Seems like a nice bag. I would prefer a different color other than grey. I still use my old mil. issue 2 day pack and fanny pack. Between those and my belt I also am able to carry a lot more than I need. Looking at the price at the end of the video, ouch! Maybe if the price drops another $50 or so I might give the Vanquest 3.0 some serious consideration.
Cool bag, but I'll have to check out Vanquest for a Smaller version. Could you add a Jessica List to your Discretion box? To many things to remember. 😎
probably a dumb question but whats that mat you have the bag on looks like it has measurements on it ive been looking for something exactly like that and i dont know what it is called so i havent found it. thanks!
There are nice ones that are $50 less, but I'm willing to pay more because I love this one and the construction/materials/design area all rock solid. If money is really tight, the 5.11 stuff looks decent. I have not tried in person though. I've preferred the Envoy since the last version. I can add the padded organizer and turn it into a full on camera bag.
+PREPAREDMIND101 I have some 5.11 stuff and fondle their packs at gander mountain. But I wouldn't put their quality at the top of the list that's for sure.
Great vid Chris. The messenger 2 also had the second stabiliser strap. I think they've just made version 3 better. I switched from Maxpedition to Vanquest. personally I think they are better.
I currently use a Maxpedition Vesper for urban EDC. And although it has extensions on the main flap that extend about three inches at each end in order to provide better rain protection for the ends of the main compartment, I still need to use a strap from the molle on one end, across the main opening, to the molle on the opposite end, to cinch the ends inward to insure they stay under the flap. Whew! The reason that I mention this, is that I noticed the Envoy 3 seemed to lack any extra protection in that area. Am I it seeing correctly? What has your experience been in that regard? Does it stay dry in a down pour?
I just wanted to know Chris have you ever checked out Maxpedition. I don't want to start any fight's it's just something you, said that's all. We are basically in the same boat i have never herd of Vanquest so please let me know if i am in the wrong and it's all good if i am! I was just asking....
Oh, ok cool! Thank you i have the falcon II Pack and i really like it so far! Still looking for other things that might be important to put in it, but i'm working on it!
+poipoundah I was wondering the same thing. Looking for a bag like this to keep in my truck. Looks like a really nice bag. Haven't checked out the rapdom t311 though.
Thanks for the review. Constructive criticism: Don't get down on yourself, you're better than that. Keep a specs sheet printout on hand when doing reviews. It really helps when going over products
How difficult would it be to attach a Vanquest HUGE pouch to the outside without it flopping around? I don't want it under the flap. On the side would be great.
I'm thinking this could replace my briefcase. The "suits" at the meeting will be perplexed when they look at my tactical oriented-self defense-first aid, lap top business case. Of course they will be right behind me when the Zombies attack.Seriously, this is a really nice bag. Nice Review, Thanks.
+Freddie Dorris You mean the RAPDOM T311? That might have been CALLED a messenger bag, but it really wasn't. More of a jumbo sling pack. I still have that and build kits with it (recently switched everything around). This is more of a messenger-briefcase style bag. More suited for what I'm using it for. Everything depends on what you want it for.
+PREPAREDMIND101 , my mistake the Rapdom ,, your correct , I bought that one because of your review on that bag 2 years ago,,now ill probably look into this bag ,, thanks Chris
Nice bag and all but I would like it with these features. 1- would have 500 Cordura 2- less molle, I personally don't need that many, doesn't mean no one else does 3- different colors 4- more price appealing 5- a bit smaller. It's too wide for me compared to my body size. If the options above are considered, I would probably buy 3! ;) Still on my mission for a work bag...:\ Review was ok, fast forward few minutes to get to the good stuff!
Agreed... having quick access velcro pockets over zippers that can bind or fail and the added anti flop strap are a big plus.
this is an awesome bag for school, work or anything you want, Vanquest is tops in my opinion well worth the cost
The size of that bag you might as well carry a suitcase 🧳. More is not always better. When you stuff that bag full you’re not going to want to carry it.
I can see myself using this as a weekend travel bag.

I can't believe the interest in your 5 # challenge. There's a ton of videos out. This was a great idea it got everyone thinking.
Not until you mentioned it...
I really like the bag if they have a less tactical looking one and it fits right I am sold
Great review! Vanquest is absolutely at the top of my list for bags, packs and the like. Could not be happier with their products.
mighty big murse. i love my maxpedition typhoon
Nice bag but physically too large for me. I use a Rapdom tactical field bag everyday and love it.
That's a nice looking bag thanks for the review.
Awesome bag. I like the color too.
Thanks for the review Chris! Plan on making this my edc/work/school/diaper bag!
Looks like a good bag. I like the contrasting color on the inside and all the Velcro.
Yeah that bag isn't bad at all - Kinda fulfils two roles in one with that extra strap, and looks ok on the back too.
wow the water bottle pocked is better and maxpedition's new one on their AGR line
Nice bag Chris. Would love to pick one up, just to carry alot of essential EDC items. Great review.
You aren't first.
Lol according to the order I am :D but also says we both commented that the same time
+PREPPER 13 Gold star wold be nice lol, but in my defense i never said i was first until he posted his own message saying you aren't first.
What bottle is in the side pocket.
Looks like a Klean Canteen "non wide mouth" edition
Vincent Duke thanks
Looks like a pretty nice bag.
Thanks for the very thorough review, CT. This has helped me with my research before buying.
ok new fav bag. as someone else asked in the comments, DOES THIS REPLACE THE RAPDOM T311 SLING BAG ?
Man i love this bag
On a side note. I would like a video on how YOU apply Herb's Yellowstone Stropping compound to a leather strop. I kinda have just been winging it and I'm not sure if I'm doing it right!
The bag looks great. Love all of the organization and Velcro. Blesses you with a ton of different options.

Are you still doing the Alone after show? I've been looking forward to it!
So Chris is this a replacement for the rapdom t311 or just a bag for a different use
Aye Chris! Great review! Did you hang-up the RAP-DOM bag? Or have you used it in another configuration? Will you be doing a review on the Vanquest FATPAC GEN2 kits soon? They look like they would make the Jessica list. Thanks again for your reviews!
+Michael Kramer I still have it. That's not REALLY a messenger bag though. This is. You can't put a laptop in a T311.
Thanks! Good to know. I'll keep that in mind when I'm trying to decide what bag to buy.
Hey Chris.....That extra strap would really help me out...I like messenger and sling bags, but when me and the dog are out in the woods, I have his gear as well. Either looking for it or not , like you said top flight quality. Good review !

Great looking bag going to order one.
I see it can be slid on the handle of a rolling bag. Will it fit over the handle of a pelican 1510 or pelican air 1535?
I've never taken a purse to the field...
+cheap is tactical So every bag everywhere is a purse? Doesn't that get a bit old? Pest control license + liquid bug death= bad news for the bugs!
Super Awesome Bag Mr. Tanner1 Thanks Again for the Info, and Gear tips!

Good review and which is bigger the VANQUEST ENVOY 3.0 or MAXPEDITION MONGO VERSIPCK?
Right now, I'm shopping for a messenger bag for work.
is this bigger than, and do you like this bag better then the RAPDOMT311? comparisons vid possibly? just got paid and was ready to pull the trigger on the rapdom-t311, but I can wait if you were going to compare the two. great vid as always Chris. thanx for the update.
Second, for comparison because I was getting to pull trigger on Rapdom.
+Chris H T311 is not really a messenger bag. You cannot put a laptop in it.

+David Baker Just the ones on each weeks video
Plan on getting for camera bag. Great review!
Great Review. Pre Ordered! because of your review

That's a cool watch which you were wearing, who is the made & what's the model? @preparedmind101
Cool bag, but I'll have to check out Vanquest for a Smaller version. Could you add a Jessica List to your Discretion box? To many things to remember. 😎
Not much of a messenger bag fan, but they have their uses for sure
probably a dumb question but whats that mat you have the bag on looks like it has measurements on it ive been looking for something exactly like that and i dont know what it is called so i havent found it. thanks!
+Joaquin Armenta Cutting mats
Thanks for the review, been looking for a solid messenger bag. I'll have to give this one a shot.
There are nice ones that are $50 less, but I'm willing to pay more because I love this one and the construction/materials/design area all rock solid. If money is really tight, the 5.11 stuff looks decent. I have not tried in person though. I've preferred the Envoy since the last version. There are always other decent options, but Jessica-List is my personal "best in class" list.
+Ian Holmes They are what Maxped used to be.
Nice review. By the way, what sunglasses is that ? It's cool too.
I currently use a Maxpedition Vesper for urban EDC. +FeArhsma21 Vanquest was formed by original founding members of Maxpedition.
Oh, ok cool! Thank you i have the falcon II Pack and i really like it so far! Still looking for other things that might be important to put in it, but i'm working on it!
Love your channel! Any plans of doing a review for Vanquest Skitch? Thanks!
I take it this replaces the RAPDOM T311 as your favorite bag??
+poipoundah I was wondering the same thing. Looking for a bag like this to keep in my truck. Looks like a really nice bag. Haven't checked out the rapdom t311 though.
Nice bag and review!
Thanks for the review. Constructive criticism: Don't get down on yourself, you're better than that. Keep a specs sheet printout on hand when doing reviews. It really helps when going over products
Please tell me what kind of watch you are wearing. Looks great. Thank you also for the review of the bag!
that's a suunto CORE black mil spec
Good stuff , what kind of water tight container??? Brand ???
Joy Sonnek. Not a bad bag you have there.
Does this still have the ability to slide over a suitcase handle when traveling like the 2.0 did?
which one is the most favorite messenger bag: THE VANQUEST ENVOY 3.0 MESSENGER BAG or RAPDOM T3 TACTICAL MESSENGER BAG?
what is the pouch you have your strop in?
Dear Chris,
Where did you get your strop? And what case is it in?
+Stephen Pemberton Steve at Survival Tactics made it for me. He might still have a couple. survival.tactics@yahoo.com
+PREPAREDMIND101 thanks. I've always wondered about your strop and never thought to comment.
How tall are you? The bag looks a little larger than what I am looking for but wondering if it is just perspective
5'9"
How difficult would it be to attach a Vanquest HUGE pouch to the outside without it flopping around? I don't want it under the flap. On the side would be great.
great vid Chris and I found my bag from Malcom.
hey man what do you think its better for durability and choping thr schrade f28 or the Kershaw camp10
Nice lawn by the way
How well does it keep the rain out?
great bag and great equipment :)
Chris may I know what bottle you use in this video? Thanks
What ever happened to your RAPDOM T311? How did that hold up?
+Rob Waltz Still have it
If you could only have one, which would you choose?
are you going to get the trident 3.0
what's the capacity of this bag, as say, compared to the rapdom t311?
I'm thinking this could replace my briefcase. The "suits" at the meeting will be perplexed when they look at my tactical oriented-self defense-first aid, lap top business case. Of course they will be right behind me when the Zombies attack.Seriously, this is a really nice bag. Nice Review, Thanks.
chris, it's too big for me. i want it for a purse. do you recommend anything like this that's smaller? it must be CCW, thx - thumbed-it-up!
You could make a mean medical bag using that.
Nice bag! :)
So I'm guessing you like this more than the condor messager bag you've always used to carry
Do You like the vanquest over the rapdom messenger bag?
That is a sweet bag! So many pockets! Might have to be my new work sack. The interior velcro adds a ton of options. Thanks for the great review.
i like it a lot. It is too big for me if I'm 5'3. I really like it
out of all the messenger bags i looked at, this one is the widest but im not much of a fan of all the molly attachments, the search continues
Does the strap run clear to the bottom of the bag?
Nice bag and all but I would like it with these features.
1- would have 500 Cordura
2- less molle, I personally don't need that many, doesn't mean no one else does
3- different colors
4- more price appealing
5- a bit smaller. It's too wide for me compared to my body size.
If the options above are considered, I would probably buy 3! ;)
Still on my mission for a work bag...:\
Review was ok, fast forward few minutes to get to the good stuff!
what kind of glasses are you wearing?
Great review.
Has any body noticed that the little silver part on his glasses is missing
