I played WoW for years since launch, but I unsubscribed and uninstalled once the news of the harassment investigation came out. It was just a matter of time anyway, since the gameplay and "story" had been stale as hell for the last 2 or 3 expansions. And I said all the above just to preface the fact that I too grinned slightly when FextraLife "forgot" to mention WoW in that sentence, lol.
Thank you for this video. You've put a few more games on my radar. Broken Ranks, Fractured Online & Blue protocol. Unreal Engine 5 is still in development/Early access (Beta). As such there are gonna be many bugs and other issues with UE5 that may hinder the development of games that move to it, Such as Ashes of Creation. As Such I expect it to slow down the development of Ashes of Creation. Not to mention all the bugs from the Transition between UE4 to UE5. Which there will be. since even moving from 4.23 to 4.27 creates issues. I got to play Mad World during it's previous Alpha. It's impressive from what they've been able to do on a Browser. It does however have issues that follow it from being in browser. It is definitely something i recommend ppl check out during it's Next Alpha on the 5th of February.
in a recent video about ashes of creation, the developer said that UE5 will speed up development, because the new version allows multiple people to check out the same cell at the same time to work on. It should be a net positive.

Broken Ranks is good but there are two major problems that will completely ruin this game: - the P2W monetization - the combat system that heavily leans to RNG fiesta
@@llewliet4021 i played for an hour yesterday. its an RNG rock paper scissors game, but the 10 seconds per turn make it a bit intense. the story seems average but there are dialogue options, which is nice to have. for a free game, i aint complaining..... yet.
Just tried it out, the game is just bad, unpolished af, feels kinda dumb planning what to do in combat only to miss 4 72% in a row and get hit by 3 25% in a row and stacking a million bleeds, and I have 0 hopes it will get better seing how they implemented a cash shop before fixing the fact that you cant even delete your characters, HUGE LET DOWN.

I can see how bad RNG can sway certain players away, but then I'm not sure why Lost Ark, Darkest Dungeon, Genshit Impact, and Yu GI Oh Master Duel are still successful games. There is a little gem of an MMO being produced right now, called Genfanad.. have you heard of it? It's like OSRC inspired. It's getting released in 2022 aswell and it's playable for those who visit the kickstarter page
Embers Adrift is a group focused game (even if its perfectly soloable). Our goal is to encourage players to come back tohether to enjoy a journey, explore a vast world and faces challenge together. Sandbox pure PVE with content tailored for small and full group. Our group size is 6 players, which allow a lot of flexibility in term of group composition. Combat is slowpaced and strategic, players will need to prepare themselves and play smart to succeed smoothly. But while our game is challenging, and do not hold players' hand, it's a very chill experience.
Backed Ashes of Creation on kickstarter, one of my few hopes for for higher quality MMO's coming out. Progress seems to be good so far, but going to keep my expectations in check. Going to stay off the hype train until I actually see the launch ready product, way too many disappointments int he MMO space to get carried away with any title at this point.
I've been excited for Blue Protocol for a long time but as with so much else, it's got delayed and it's questionable if we'll get to see a global release this year.
Great video, late to the discussion. I am looking for a turn based combat MMO. I have spent many many years playing button mashing games. I am so tired of it. However, I love exploring games and playing with other. Any ideas, that do not involve timers for your commands, and are mmo turn based?
Mortal Online 2 is really good for a game made by so small a studio, One of the most entertaining guilds ever spawned on it, Odinseed. They're on twitch all the time, funny and fun loving bunch.
I really, really hope Ashes of Creation lives up to its potential. Form me personally, it's the only game on this list I'd be willing to put a time sink into. I haven't been able to find a new MMORPG in years. Nothing released in the past 10 years or so has really appealed to me; or rather, hasn't lost it's appeal.

But since I've been waiting for close to 20 years now for a decent MMORPG, I'm willing to wait a few more for what Pantheon is shaping up to be. Don't play Broken Ranks, I had a discussion about the developpers about diversity in their game (of which there is none) and the answers they gave were baffling. They were more interested in gas lighting people than providing answers. I would suggest you stay away.
nothing good coming out, all i want is a game thats final fantasy tactics combat playstyle and character build but each player can only play one character and no character can have all the abilities and the game only works if you form a party with other actual players who cant multi log.
You drop a large amount of money on a PC and so many games come out with cartoon graphics. Not a fan of the cartoon graphics though I am stoked that Ashes of Creation upgraded to Unreal Engine 5.

@@Salchipapafied Yes, using a new engine assures less bugs than using UE4 that has been out for numerous years (with other devs and users that can assist with their years of experience using it). // UE5 has showcased many new tools that certainly assist development by A LOT, no doubt I am sure, but as you say... let the real developers determine for real if UE5 makes bugs easier to fix. ( nb : I am not contradicting you at all here, except to say I doubt it.)

for an mmo they kind of have too it's boring as heck if you have to wait for each player to take a 1 minute turn and you can plan your turn ahead while the others play so I do not see 10 sec being a problem at all .
its been liek that for 11 years and i don't think it should function differently since its going to be a full time grind mmorpg so we don't want to sit in one round for an hour

Don't hold your breath. There are no indications that Pantheon will be released by 2023. We are talking 2024 at the earliest. It's mind boggling.

You say all of this, while also failing to establish your credentials on the subject. What do _you_ know about game development such that you evidently know for a fact FextraLife was just spewing "pretty much marketing / propaganda. Or bullshit in general"? This is not a one-way street.
@@Salchipapafied Yes, using a new engine assures less bugs than using UE4 that has been out for numerous years (with other devs and users that can assist with their years of experience using it).

Lets take the MAIN REASON people still like turn based combat (the lack of anxiety).....
And add 10 second time limits to the turns.

It's an idea taken from some old JRPGs that functioned the same way.
for an mmo they kind of have too it's boring as heck if you have to wait for each player to take a 1 minute turn and you can plan your turn ahead while the others play so I do not see 10 sec being a problem at all .
Just because some games used to or can do it, doesn’t make it a good idea
its been liek that for 11 years and i don't think it should function differently since its going to be a full time grind mmorpg so we don't want to sit in one round for an hour
