Great review. Great demo. Most ALL Jazz bass demos only seem to showcase that one bright twangy bridge pickup sound but I really appreciate how we hear some of the beefier neck pickup tones in this. Good job. A Jazz bass can be just as robust as a Precision bass as long as you aren't scared of the neck pickup.
Great review! Short, to-the-point, and delivered with humor. There should be more material like this on RUclips. Of course, now you've got me yearning for a bass I can't really afford.
I own the jazz and precision models, and I honestly can't say enough good things about them. They're pretty much everything I could have ever wanted in a bass.
I bought the 5 string version, and I’m absolutely in love with it. I’m actually generating tones from it that I could never produce from my other J Basses. And I’ve owned at least 20 Fender J basses.
Nice review, mate! The Elite Jazz Bass is one hella good Bass, but if I had to pick the ultimate Fender Jazz, it would be the Fender Select series that were released in limited edition in 2012 and 2013. Compound radius fretboard, quarter-sawn maple neck, custom Select series pickups, it's the most solid and best playing Fender Jazz I've ever played, including the Elite series. The Elite would come in a close second neck and neck with the Custom Shop '61 and '64 and American Vintage '64 Jazz Basses. And that's just for Fenders. If we were talking the best Jazz Bass overall, it's a Lakland US 44-60 hands down. Cheers!
Thanks for the kind words! I've never played that kind of Fender JB you mentioned... sure sounds good though. I love maple necks. As for the Lakland, I haven't played one of those either!
proud husband of exactly that colour ... there was an almost imperceptable ding on the top horn , more a dent in the paint than anything ... the lovely people at guitar guitar in glasgow scotland gave me a mark bass amp by way of sorry , nice hard case , awesome free strap and locks enough about you ... lets talk about... my bass plays like a dream ... honestly i found the notes falling from my fingers , i own 7 basses at the last count ( because i was trying to get one sound or feel from each ) ... all that was missing was a little growl ... theres a truss rod wheel !!!!! ... just poke it with something really hard and lean down to straighten the neck enough to get a growl then raise the saddles on the middle 2 strings a quarrter turn to sop the buzzing ... play it REALLY softly = clean and long sustain ... dig in by degree for more growl and normal strength for the flea musicman sound ( boost the mid dial(top stack on the lowest knob) i have spent the better part of 50 years fucking around with builds .. this is all you need
Cool! But as great as this instrument is, I must say that if you’re looking for “that” Musicman sound you won’t be able to achieve it with this bass...
@@helloitsnicko AHAHAHAH... honest. I have a EBMM Bongo HH6 stealth black. it is wow. However I curious about this Elite or Ultra Jazz Bass. Do they really worth the money? $2000 Is there a real difference between Professional vs Elite and Ultra?
I grabbed one the last year they were made (I think 2021 or something), and got it new for 1000$ under msrp, elites are not all made equal, very much the opposite. The store i went to had 5 surprisingly, and I played em all. 4 were horrible sounding, but the 1 that sounded good... holy balls it's amazing.
I considered it the evolution of the bass to have a trussrod adjustment access from the top, without havin go unscrew the neck every time. Do you have to do that again or is the "MM" style adjustment accessable without unscrewing?
Without meaning to sound completely unhelpful, it wasn’t particularly light and it wasn’t particularly heavy. Just kinda.. felt like a Jazz Bass... Hope that helps hahaha!
Hello! The finish is called Ocean Turquoise. I think it is a limited edition colour in the sense that you can only get it on the Elite series... I don't know for sure, but that what I think I heard!
Visit this link and select Ocean Turquoise: shop.fender.com/en-US/electric-basses/jazz-bass/american-elite-jazz-bass/0197002706.html This lovely color can be found on current Fender Elite Precision and Jazz Basses as well as the discontinued short-scale Fender Rascal Bass. I don't know if it can be found on other basses. It is an option in the Mod Shop as well.
Liquid Streets gr Oh jeez I would buy this every time. The Yamaha is of very high quality, but the Fender matches it. And then beats it on every other level in my opinion.

Ok my liege, hang on; just let me just go back in time 4 years, *borrow* this bass from Promenade Music again, and remove (without having the right) a totally inoffensive *informational* sticker that Fender put on it for customers / staff to read when they're - wait for it - demoing the bass? Completely reasonable. I'll get right on that.
My DIY debut album 'NICKO_1' is OUT NOW!
It would mean the world to me if you gave it a spin. Thank you.

Sam Elowitch Haha, sorry about that! And thanks, glad you liked my video!
Loving this review. Fun presentation with lovely playing. If I didn't have so many axes this would be on the wish-list.

That’s the thing I was trying to get across! It’s so versatile. Like every perceivable JB all rolled into one. Awesome bass.
2:16 how the hell...?
finally someone doing reviews who can actually play
@Nick Latham - Is that groove @ 2:15 your improv or an actual song? Sounds cool.
I also love the song. Quite amazing
It's just a thing I came up with whilst I was getting to know this bass! Glad you like it.
Im glad im not the only genius who wears his bass high!😜😁
I totally just bought one in the Champaign color.
I don't like to wear my bass that high, but I love seeing different peoples styles, i love that it works for some people, lovely. ^^
Great video. This is my first time seeing your channel and I subbed. You’re very talented and this bass sounds beautiful.

The best overall Jazz Bass overall was the 65- L Series Jazz Bass... and 73 Jazz Bass Nothing even remotely come close .
Beautiful juicy deep clear sounding bass.
Yeah David. I absolutely loved playing it!
Is the best bass I heard, including in the list the P Bass Am. Elite that fortunately I play, which is maybe 2nd .
I’ve got one, they are superb, the most comfortable neck I’ve played and great in active and passive mode
Got this exact bass in the 5string version on order, and the wait is killing me!!
marc haik Ahhh hold tight! It’ll be worth the wait!!

enough about you ... lets talk about... my bass
plays like a dream ... honestly i found the notes falling from my fingers , i own 7 basses at the last count ( because i was trying to get one sound or feel from each ) ... all that was missing was a little growl ... theres a truss rod wheel !!!!! ... just poke it with something really hard and lean down to straighten the neck enough to get a growl then raise the saddles on the middle 2 strings a quarrter turn to sop the buzzing ...
play it REALLY softly = clean and long sustain ... dig in by degree for more growl and normal strength for the flea musicman sound ( boost the mid dial(top stack on the lowest knob)

that bass growls!!
1:34 LOL! Funny as hell. Great review.
Nice review, very good playing. Wonderful sounding and looking bass. Thanks for this great video! 👍
Thank you my friend! It is a fantastic instrument!
Finally a review where the player doesn't slap, you can actually hear the bass, thanks
The video literally opens with slap.
Lol @ “this lit’l nublet right ‘ere.” Made my day.
I know how to speak a good words
After years of saving I'm picking my Fender American Elite Jazz Bass later today...
Well worth the wait...
.....
Hell yes! Congratulations on your purchase. You will not regret it. For sure it's my favourite bass that Fender make.
Hey man, lovely playing, earned a sub! Do you know what strings were on this bass when you recorded this?
That's lovely bass playing fella, thank you for an exceptional demo, you covered all the bases, excuse the pun...^^
What a nice badger you are! 🦡💫
lowkey need this 🙌🔥🔥🙌
Judging by your username, you... *are* this!
Can you make a demo/review for the elite precision bass?
Good playing too
Thanks for the review. In my opinion they are one of Fenders better modern day achievements.
Nice demo good review too
Thank for the review Nick. Which strings are the ones that come with the bass originally?
Hi Norman I believe it had D’Addario nickel wounds on it when I played it 🙂
Nick Latham thanks keep it up
I really dreamed of having a bass guitar like this but it was impossible for me ... everything was just a dream !!!!
You can still do it. Reach for your dreams!!
Great playing! What about the classic jazz bass noise you get when using each pickup separately? Does this thing has truly noiseless pickups?
Yep. No single coil hum at all, even when using only 1 pickup.
Great bass!! (more slapping next time!)
I have a black fender elite Jass bass American deluxe
Very nice indeed Shawn
Very nice
dude what strings were on it ? ... got one ...playing around with different strings
Best jazz bass ever made and i mean it ....
I have one in natural maple and its a beast of bass.
Quality review - tidy playing too - Did you manage to get one yourself? 😄
Nah, as good as this bass is, I don’t need another jazz bass! Got my Sandberg that does the job wonderfully! 💫
Nice Demo excellent
+Paul Traynor Thank you Paul!
I'm looking for a new Stingray 5 no more.
Thanks, mate.

Yep no need to take the neck off, it’s adjustable right there at the neck. MM style!
Nick, what can you tell us about its weight?...

Is his amp on? it's like he has feathers for fingers. Freaking play the bass
I think the ultra is a step backwards from this one.
Oof, I haven't played an Ultra so I can't weigh in on that. Why do you think it's a step backwards?
How much??,
What kinda strings bro.
Not sure - they were just the ones that Fender ships the basses with though, if that helps...
That bass is dead sexy!!
string spacing bridge???
Comparing this with the Yamaha bb2024 which would you buy ? I saw the other review and I am wondering ! Quality wise , playability , tone ?

Liquid Streets gr the j bass is great I love my elite
Nice😍👍
i have the same guitar connected to fender rumble 100 and it sounds like shit!!!
what am i doing wrong?
Sorry I'm 8 months late in replying... did you resolve the issue John?

good player but no pick? if the title says "ultimate" then why?
It doesn't say the ultimate review, it postulates if this is the best Jazz Bass from fender
well i'm not a native english speaker, i've probable had a wrong definition of "ultimate" XD
Speedshifter in this case the words are interchangable
Speedshifter a pick lol😂😂😂😂😂😂
👍☕😎👊
Great review!...however sounds almost as good as mine Squier CV Jazz with CS 60s pickups on board ;) Cheers!
Being the owner of both a Squire CV & the Fender Elite I have to agree with you. However when I hook them up to an amplifier.

Lovely bass but they are just far too expensive.
Y'know, they are expensive... but you'd never need to buy another Jazz Bass ever again.
Too damn bright sounding
In active mode yes the preamp is bright, swap out with John East Retro, problem solved.
