**TIP** If you get a cross bow and put the piercing enchantment on it, when you shoot the zombie villager, the arrow will stick in the wall behind him. You can then collect and reuse your arrows of weakness, which makes the conversion process a but cheaper.
I’ve got a curing box for exactly for that. golden apples, a piercing crossbow and a stack of weakness arrows. I did a whole stack in a cauldron, and still have 61. Did my whole trading hall with one arrow!
The reason the zombie sometimes wont attack the villager is because he is focused on attacking the player You need to move a far enough distance to lose his fixation on you
This is the answer. It likely happened due to Jefferson hitting you originally and your thorns causing him damage. If you didn't have thorns then perhaps you had damaged him at some other point.
On the realm I play on I've built 2 trading halls around zombie spawners. One is called Harrods and has mainly librarians. The second is called Costco and has 20 farmers, armourers, toolsmiths, clerics etc for bulk trading xp and emeralds. I learnt this from you in a BG S2 (I think) episode. Love your work!
I usually start with the spawner (and build an iron farm on top as well) - since it is early game and easy - and lets me get all the diamond gear and tools pretty quick while generating a ton of iron and rotten flesh. Once I'm geared out and I've gone to the nether and back, I'll do some curing - but only on those I need to. Not much reason to cure an armorer - since the only benefit is to get the coal trade to 1:1. Some, however, like clerics can be made more efficient for rotten flesh to emeralds, fletchers for sticks, or the high priced librarians (more for the books than the paper).
Thank you so much for explaining the discount mechanic! I have never done the discount because it was not worth it. But now I know it’s permanent for the villager that was cured, it is worth it! I have watched so many trading hall videos and not one explained the mechanic side of it and only showed a build tutorial. Thanks again!!
You finally made this process understandable. I'm loving the tip about the tipped arrows so I don't have to find blaze rods to cure a villager. Thank you!!!
Chunkbase seems to be about 20% accurate for me. 1 in 5 noted spawners exist. But zombie spawners are definitely a fabulous way to discount your villagers.
I'm not positive, but I think the world *tries* to put a spawner at those locations, but there are several potential reasons it could fail, so it doesn't actually generate. Chunkbase would show the attempt, not whether or not it was successful. Not sure where I got that impression from though, may not be real.
Probably... Although in one world it took me A MILLION YEARS to find a stupid fortress 😂 I was on the Switch so the low render + nether fog was awful. It seriously took me like 4 or 5 multiple hours trips to find one.... I had found 5 bastions before a fortress 🤦🏻♀️ And then, the fortress was half broken and didn't have nether wart lmao
Great simple setup. Nice change from the perimeter zombie track. I'd really like to see a spawmer farm episode. I have a ton of different spawners around my base and I'd really like to put them to good use.
Tip for ur survival world, I usually make a copy of my world and turn it into a creative one. Then I locate certain structures in that world since I use the command /Locate (Biome OR Structure) (Biome OR Structures Name) Also if the Biome has a space, Use _ Instead of space!
If you punch a zombie that is distracted by a villager, it will reaggro to you. Helps with moving them for villager discounts. Works with zombie villagers too.
I built a minecart dispenser to pick up zombie villagers from the kill chamber and they roll into a caged in area with another dispenser filled with splash potion of weakness. Just hit the button and the isolated villager gets splashed, and give them a gold apple. After curing, they are given a nice safe spot with a bed and a workstation. I've also used Prowl's iron farm, multiple times.
I had a zombie spawner really close to my base and I built the villager trading hall around the zombie spawner so 16 blocks outwards from this spawner and it made it really easy I get infinite discounts anytime I'm there for like 30 minutes
Glad to see I'm not the only one who has a little trouble keeping things from escaping during the curing process. I've gone for 1 melon per emerald in my village with about 3 villagers but I'll admit an iron farm is probably easier.
Use some pistons to easier remove the block above the zombie Then maybe 1 more piston to block the zombie villager from running out of the block infront of the zombie I think it'll work with a block at face lvl
I looked up in chunk base some zombie spawners near my base and the one I picked its there, so Im doing my iron farm/trading hall around it! Its a long way to bring villagers but mostly water, so, its ok, unless a water creeper appears lol
The world I am on now has a zombie spawner at around 29, 96, 28. Just a few blocks away up on a mountain side . Great mountain trading hall base right at spawn point and a large village only 200 blocks away.
I play console bedrock only and had the same issues. The zombie is focused on you. I always had to get far enough away that the zombie stops focusing on me, they will see the villager closest to them. It's a real pain for sure.
OR get all trades set and you don't put in the trap door and let a baby zombie go get them all and you do a mass heal and trap baby zombie. Do that a couple times and get them all at once as long as you have enough potions and apples. 🧠
In the realm I play, we're not in hard difficulty, so I built a book trading hall by kidnapping zombie villagers and healing them one by one, linking them to their work block and fixing the book I want before sending them via minecart to their final destination.
Hi, yes I have done the discounting on my villagers. I also give each of mine a 5x5 cell with a bed. In the past I have had times when the villager will refuse to trade ...forever after the first few times. Now giving them the 5x5 cell with bed, I don't have any more problems.
Oh yes I plan on curing villagers as soon as I can get some arrows. I'm working on it now, I already have a zombie villager that was accidentally converted when I was making the iron farm/trading hall in beginning. (Yes mistakes were made 😂🤣😭)
@Prowl8413 I built a spawner trading hall iron farm on 1.21 and noticed, at least in my world, that the spawner discount system seems to only discount the first time, any additional zombie villagers that spawn after that first one that discounted, do nothing. Is this right?
I new to Minecraft and was wondering and currently playing on easy. If I swap the game to hard complete this process and switch back to easy will the discount stick?
Tip for finding spawners: Chunkbase is often wildly inaccurate. Make a copy of your world and go into spectator mode. Additionally, if you have plans for curing villagers, don't lock their trades in. They should keep their trades, but sometimes they accidentally change trades. Lastly, another reason to discount the moneymakers not the librarians is XP: trading 4 ingots for one emerald for one book is 2 trades. 16 ingots for 16 emeralds for 1 book is 17 trades. That's 8x the XP, and as long as they don't implement off-hand, this is the way to repair tools.
Chunkbase is great, I use it a lot. But it struggles with Dungeons specifically. Probably because the dungeon generation code is much older than any other structure.
With your setup how do your villagers’ trades restock if they can’t reach their beds? I had to make my villagers a whole living room with space to move commune and actually sleep for the trades to restock. I don’t plan on putting them back in their traditional trade hall boxes, they just refuse to restock. Help?
Villagers don't even need beds to restock. You can make a trading hall with 1 bed, 80 villagers, and they will restock fine. Restocking is only based on the job block.
Yes :) You just need to be on hard for the conversion! If you are on normal while the zombie is "killing" the villager, you have 50% chance that the villager is going to die, and on easy it's 100%, that's all!
Thats correct. Their discounts will be permanent, although with extremely frequent trading they can still get the temporary price increases that villagers typically get... but it takes A LOT of trading to cause that, and that increase is only temporary
