Death of Iranian Presiden who was Called a Butcher of Tehran | Ebrahim Raisi | Response on his death

Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran, died in a helicopter crash on May 20, 2024. The crash occurred in the mountainous region of East Azerbaijan province, near the border with Azerbaijan. The helicopter was carrying Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and several other officials when it went down in poor weather conditions.
Raisi, who was 63, was a significant figure in Iran's political landscape. He first gained notoriety in 1988 as part of a committee responsible for the mass executions of political prisoners, which earned him the nickname "Butcher of Tehran." These executions targeted members of various opposition groups, including communists and the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK), with estimates of the number of victims ranging from 2,800 to as many as 30,000​ .
Following his death, First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber was appointed as the interim president. He will oversee the country until new elections are held within the next 50 days. This leadership transition comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East and significant domestic challenges for Iran​ .
