I know what you mean about the graying, but I love that about this ink. It's my daily black. I love Heart of Darkness too but Dark Matter has a lot of character.
Vitta, that Moleskine paper is not an anomaly. They once made a harder, better paper for notebooks. Not great, but better at least. HOD is a wonderful ink unless you get it on your French cuff. Pen and ink artists love it. Wonder what is in the brew? Eel looks nice in its way; it is blacker and shades if that is what you want. HOD dries in my pens rather quickly unfortunately. Great, objective review.
I write my notes with this Claire fountaine paper. It's butter smooth to write on but no ink will dry quickly on that thick smoothe paper. In my notebook which has thinner less dense paper the cross ink I use dries almost instantly.
I found exactly the same results as you have , not one ill be buying . I do like the old timey looks of the ink although that might be suggestive marketing I'm not sure thanks for the review. One to maybe try is one i recently tied Mont Blanc Poppy corn red
I got permanent blue also in my pile of ink samples not tried it yet so we see how you get on . As I know you like you some cheap pens and I know you like you some springy nibs id suggest the hero 395 which is pretty much semi flex for less than $10 I believe they are defo worth a punt
I don't have any of their black inks yet, cause I'm all about the colors in ink. Don't feel black inks so much. I really need color in my life, it sure makes me happy. ;-)
Talk about an intro!!! Badass.

I agree! I got a large bottle of HOD and use it all the time for addressing letters.
Tommy Tracy Oh yeah! It's my raining champ!

Preach! It's why I love Fountain Pens! All those Colors, right?!
Looks like Zhivago
José Ignacio Silva Never tried Zhivago--
Man, Noodler's has a ridiculous number of Black inks, huh?! pretty awesome though, right?
VittaR Oh yeah, blues too
I don't get the fascination with water proofness. I can think of many more situations where I would rather have a washable ink than a bulletproof one!
PerfectMan agree!
