This is my first attempt at cooking a tasty, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside fried chicken. Inspired by the well loved KFC, this dish is a sure knock-out.
Four key things to remember:
1. Preparing the chicken (cleaning, scoring)
2. Brining
3. Buttermilking
4. Flouring (Breading)
Brining is soaking food in salt and water solution. The meat absorbs extra salt and liquid, making it juicier. In our dish, I've added some herbs and spices to add flavor.
Buttermilking - Chilling the chicken in the fridge soaked in buttermilk makes the meat much more tender.
Flouring - Creating the breading by combining flour and other herbs and spices.
And lastly, Frying and Baking.
All put together to make the best tasting fried chicken. For best results, allow at least one day to do the preparation. Try it, you'll love it! Enjoy!

Can you cook without the oven part?
For this recipe, the oven part was crucial to cook the meat of the chicken. If you'd like to skip the oven part, perhaps you need to deep fry the chicken a bit longer, turning over a couple of times to prevent breading from burning. You also need to be wary of the oil temperature. I hope that helps.
