The coolest (and also depressing) thing about this mod it's game over screen, it doesn't have one, instead it's says "press R to Restart", but no actual game over, because Sonic can't drown, in fact, you can win even when you "lose".

It makes sense why there wasn't a drowning theme in this song (or at least I didn't hear one) The drowning theme means you're running out of time which wouldn't fit with being stuck under water for eternity.

Damn, this mod gives me straight chills. The way the drowning Sonic will clutch at the chain on his leg with the horrific look of fear, the up animation as he tries to reach for the surface, the way his idle makes it look like hes floating there lifelessly. This mod is fucking gold. I love the concept of characters put in deathly situations, it just spikes such a scary idea, like you're watching a friend struggle or die

I remember really hating the level this was based off of cause one bad jump made you end up like this. Pretty much. The part where it went muffled and silent for a moment gave me chills... like he blacked out for a second or something.
I imagine the moments of silence and followed by the huge charting is like if Sonic was about to give up but he continues to panic and try to set himself free in a frustrated hurry
Favorite part is when everything goes mute and just when you think it's over, Sonic's Will just starts singing the beginning of Green Hill. It's comforting, it's nostalgic, it's familiar. As if to tell him to keep fighting because he has to get back to what he knows, to the world above. The world he loves. *His world*.
When I was little I went to the YMCA. I was in the inside pool at the time. No one was looking so I decided to do a huge cannon ball into the deep end of the pool. My feet reached the ground and I decided to propel myself up by jumping on the ground floor of the pool. I started swimming upwards. And I kept swimming.. and swimming.. and swimming. It was starting to take really long.. too long. I started getting worried. My heart started beating out of my chest as I realized how deep into the water I really was. Soon I started making mistakes. A wrong move here and there that halted my progress out. I started getting really tired, it started getting painful to move as the air started slowly escaping me. Soon, it started feeling like I was helpless until my hand slipped into the surface. I used the rest of my energy to push myself to the surface and clung to the edge of the pool. I was just sat there panting as all of the other kids were having the time of their lives in the water. Needless to say, this mod brought back a core memory.

The worst feeling i had was when i was swimming in pool and tried to hold my breath for as long as possible while being at the deepest part of the pool. The moment when you breathe water in because of little mistake and anxiety is terrifying. Being at the bottom of a deep pool and losing all oxygen at one moment is painful and so helpless. Only speed decides will you live or not and panic is the worst enemy

If that chain is made of iron, I wouldn't worry- he's not going to be down there for as long as the description says. The chain would rust away after a week. Still a nasty fate, but not "eternal" torture.
I like to think that the song is actually when Sink first entered the level. It starts normal like the song but the end part of the melody is different from what were use to foreshadowing something different taking place. 00:16 He gets an air bubble 00:39 Gets an item 00:58 Gets some more air Things seem to be going well. Too well. until 1:00 The background begins to build foreshadowing something terrible is coming until 1:23 You here that uncharacteristic sonic sound effect. This could be the initial chain getting stuck on his leg and him begining to sink He's sinking now You here that weird sound from earlier again except its just one this time. This could be hitting the bottom. There's a pause before the music picks up again: Representing the sudden realization of true distress and helplessness. He's panicking now. Looking everywhere for a way out but in the end useless. Finds another item or an enemy, either way it doesn't help him. Maybe it could have been an extra life which is why he doesn't die Static takes over the background. You cant even hear the level theme anymore. He remembers green hills. The duty he must fulfill. The promises he made to his friends. Drowning in his own failure. Strength returning to him he frantically thrashes around trying to get the chain off. The music goes quiet completely. He died again. Strength returning. He continues his futile thrashing The beginning theme returns confirming this was the fate it was foreshadowing to us. The last end section has quick sections with slower sections. Probably showing us how tiring but desperate he it to escape The final note being a long up note with a left note. Sink extending upward showing his want for freedom with the left note as a reminder of what is keeping him imprisoned. Also, his "inner spirit" has a longer up note then his physical body. Showing how its his will that keeps him alive and not necessarily his body If you actually bothered reading any of this, I hope you enjoyed my interpretation.
Very interesting your theory but I do not think it is the first time that sink sink to the bottom of labyrinth zone by some points. 1. The mine is rusty which shows That sink has been there for a long time. 2. The sink soul cannot see appeared so soon. 3. They couldn't coordinate so quickly even if it's their soul or willpower . They were built a long time ago so it'd make sense if they were rusty or something. Im not saying that the song takes place right after he gets trapped there, I'm basically saying he's singing/reminiscing about how he first got trapped there.
I love the detail that when sonics at his lowest and stops singing (the first time, I think the second time is him blacking out), he starts to remember green hill and keeps going. It ties in to his undying will really well

the thought of it honestly genuinely makes me feel sick, sheesh. like think about that feeling when you accidentally have water enter your nose, but obviously much worse
God I love this stuff. It's so much more interesting and terrifying than just putting Sonic.exe in somewhere again. It also perfectly demonstrates the stuff that actually gets me in horror media. Just thinking about if I was in that situation instead is genuinely scary to me. Imagine being stuck at the bottom of a massive pit of water, completely unable to escape or even die. You're just stuck there forever, since nobody is gonna be able to find you.
My theory is the sonic in the background is his soul, consistently attempting to flee his body, to no avail. He teeters on the edge of death, his soul and body splitting somewhat, but neither able to experience the blissful release of death. Some curse holds sonic in an infinite state of drowning, unable to be free until someone else who will never come saves him.
Thats what I was thinking! People thinks his soul is trying to live but due to the expression on the soul face and it's note animayions, it made me think that it's trying to leave the body.
Imo, I think it represents Sonic when he got the chain clamped onto his leg, the left pose is looking for anyone to help him, the right pose is him trying to reach out for something to hold onto to stop sinking, down pose is just him accepting his fate, up pose is screaming for help, and idle is desperately hoping for a miracle
I feel bad for Sink, literally suffering underwater with no escape. Poor hedgehog can't even die, shows "Press R to Restart" text when your healthbar goes down to 0. And all he can feel is eternal pain.

I love this song for the sole fact that it… as the mod itself conveys a desperate struggle, In my eyes… it represents the overwhelming pressure of dealing with certain moments in life that lead to bad panic/anxiety attacks, it emulates a similar feeling to that of drowning or suffocating…
The fact that he has blood pouring out of him indicates that he is at a deep level, like the baby version of the MARIANA trench, or he has been down there for a long time. Nice mod.

I was pretty spooked of drowning in general, but now I'm PETRIFIED. Not only is getting CHAINED at the bottom of the sea with no help in sight a frightful experience, but dying alone is a spiral of loneliness and despair is too terrifying to even think of. Simply put, this mod gave me CHILLS. 😰

Eggman finally knew how to defeat sonic, a ball and chain to his leg and air bubbles. (I absolutely love the fact of how every now and then your hear the getting air sound) This mod is super cool and wish I knew the context of how he got into that position tho. but a awesome mod.
I have this weird headcannon that Sink CAN actually emerge from the water, but he'd have to re-submerge himself eventually. He's basically the opposite of how Sonic usually works: he'll lose a life when out of the water for too long instead of the other way around.

My headcannon on how he has infinite lifes is he has already collected the chaos emeralds(or majority of them) here and thats what keeping him alive,we already seem in canon the emeralds are able to ressurrect sonic if he dies

Trapped in a body of water. Attached to a trap with no escape pressure entering through your mouth lungs and brain. You cant see as the water fills up your eyes immortal just to suffer. You cant see properly without the right view. As you cry for help but nobody came you cant be free from the amount of pain and depression. Drowning. Continuing to suffer as nobody knows the state your in... You give up and just sing as you suffer.

This mod is designed after the creepypasta where Sonic is trapped in a forever loop of death, meaning that even if you try to die, you can’t. In the original creepypasta, Sonic is powered by determination. At around 2 minutes and 58 seconds into the song, Sonic’s notes fade out and then fade in abruptly. This is probably supposed to represent Sonic actually dying. This happens at some other times in the song, but without fading. They just stop coming for about 3 seconds.

I think part of what makes this song so special is the brief silences dotted here and there. It's sonic losing the strength to fight for just a moment before going back to desperate action.

2:10 when I had gone skiing once a blizzard decided to make itself known, I was lost in the snow and was beginning to lose strength by rummaging through it. My jacket kept me warm but it wouldn’t be long until I might’ve passed out. I could barely see anything through the thick white and this part of the song began to play in my head, I felt hopeless, lost, like I was going to die. until I saw the lights of the skiing lobby. I pushed with all my strength and managed to make it through, shivering, covered in snow and barely conscious.

When I was little I went to the YMCA. I was in the inside pool at the time. No one was looking so I decided to do a huge cannon ball into the deep end of the pool. My feet reached the ground and I decided to propel myself up by jumping on the ground floor of the pool. I started swimming upwards. And I kept swimming.. and swimming.. and swimming. It was starting to take really long.. too long. I started getting worried. My heart started beating out of my chest as I realized how deep into the water I really was. Soon I started making mistakes. A wrong move here and there that halted my progress out. I started getting really tired, it started getting painful to move as the air started slowly escaping me. Soon, it started feeling like I was helpless until my hand slipped into the surface. I used the rest of my energy to push myself to the surface and clung to the edge of the pool. I was just sat there panting as all of the other kids were having the time of their lives in the water.
Needless to say, this mod brought back a core memory.
Never do that again.

i also went to a pool resort, but the memory was all blurry. i remember, when i was little, just clinging to the edge then someone pulled me out, that's all i remember. (it was myrtle beach me and my family went there for vacation)
The worst feeling i had was when i was swimming in pool and tried to hold my breath for as long as possible while being at the deepest part of the pool. The moment when you breathe water in because of little mistake and anxiety is terrifying. Being at the bottom of a deep pool and losing all oxygen at one moment is painful and so helpless. Only speed decides will you live or not and panic is the worst enemy

If that chain is made of iron, I wouldn't worry- he's not going to be down there for as long as the description says. The chain would rust away after a week. Still a nasty fate, but not "eternal" torture.

I like to think that the song is actually when Sink first entered the level.
It starts normal like the song but the end part of the melody is different from what were use to foreshadowing something different taking place.

You here that weird sound from earlier again except its just one this time. This could be hitting the bottom. There's a pause before the music picks up again: Representing the sudden realization of true distress and helplessness.
He's panicking now. Looking everywhere for a way out but in the end useless. Finds another item or an enemy, either way it doesn't help him. Maybe it could have been an extra life which is why he doesn't die
Static takes over the background. You cant even hear the level theme anymore. He remembers green hills. The duty he must fulfill. The promises he made to his friends. Drowning in his own failure. Strength returning to him he frantically thrashes around trying to get the chain off.
The music goes quiet completely. He died again. Strength returning. He continues his futile thrashing
The beginning theme returns confirming this was the fate it was foreshadowing to us. The last end section has quick sections with slower sections. Probably showing us how tiring but desperate he it to escape
The final note being a long up note with a left note. Sink extending upward showing his want for freedom with the left note as a reminder of what is keeping him imprisoned.
Also, his "inner spirit" has a longer up note then his physical body. Showing how its his will that keeps him alive and not necessarily his body

1. The mine is rusty which shows That sink has been there for a long time.
2. The sink soul cannot see appeared so soon.
3. They couldn't coordinate so quickly even if it's their soul or willpower .

They were built a long time ago so it'd make sense if they were rusty or something. God I love this stuff. It's so much more interesting and terrifying than just putting Sonic.exe in somewhere again. It also perfectly demonstrates the stuff that actually gets me in horror media. Just thinking about if I was in that situation instead is genuinely scary to me. Imagine being stuck at the bottom of a massive pit of water, completely unable to escape or even die. You're just stuck there forever, since nobody is gonna be able to find you.

My theory is the sonic in the background is his soul, consistently attempting to flee his body, to no avail. He teeters on the edge of death, his soul and body splitting somewhat, but neither able to experience the blissful release of death. Some curse holds sonic in an infinite state of drowning, unable to be free until someone else who will never come saves him.
Thats what I was thinking! People thinks his soul is trying to live but due to the expression on the soul face and it's note animayions, it made me think that it's trying to leave the body.

Imo, I think it represents Sonic when he got the chain clamped onto his leg, the left pose is looking for anyone to help him, the right pose is him trying to reach out for something to hold onto to stop sinking, down pose is just him accepting his fate, up pose is screaming for help, and idle is desperately hoping for a miracle

Insane mod. I played this mod and my god it was amazing! 😊 The music is actually fucking banging. Also love the way sonic looks here it's so good! Short but sweet.

In my eyes… it represents the overwhelming pressure of dealing with certain moments in life that lead to bad panic/anxiety attacks, it emulates a similar feeling to that of drowning or suffocating…

The fact that he has blood pouring out of him indicates that he is at a deep level, like the baby version of the MARIANA trench, or he has been down there for a long time. Nice mod.

I was pretty spooked of drowning in general, but now I'm PETRIFIED. Not only is getting CHAINED at the bottom of the sea with no help in sight a frightful experience, but dying alone is a spiral of loneliness and despair is too terrifying to even think of.
Simply put, this mod gave me CHILLS. 😰

My headcannon on how he has infinite lifes is he has already collected the chaos emeralds(or majority of them) here and thats what keeping him alive,we already seem in canon the emeralds are able to ressurrect sonic if he dies

You cant see properly without the right view. As you cry for help but nobody came you cant be free from the amount of pain and depression. Drowning. Continuing to suffer as nobody knows the state your in... You give up and just sing as you suffer.

I think part of what makes this song so special is the brief silences dotted here and there. It's sonic losing the strength to fight for just a moment before going back to desperate action.

2:10 when I had gone skiing once a blizzard decided to make itself known, I was lost in the snow and was beginning to lose strength by rummaging through it. My jacket kept me warm but it wouldn’t be long until I might’ve passed out. I could barely see anything through the thick white and this part of the song began to play in my head, I felt hopeless, lost, like I was going to die. until I saw the lights of the skiing lobby. I pushed with all my strength and managed to make it through, shivering, covered in snow and barely conscious.
What frightens me the most is not the fact that he's trapped in the water suffering forever but instead his bleeding eye. I find it so unnerving when an eye bleeds for some reason.

Some context behind this mod and what is going on, for the ppl that dont know. The dude here shackled is sonic and after dying once in the trench he is doomed to roam the trench, and him being shackled is his infinite fate.
Our sonic, he fell in water, getting his leg stuck on what I think appears to be a bomb. Now, hes drowning.. He trys to call for help.. Its no use.. Cause the only thing your going to get is water in your mouth.
Then sonic wakes up because of a little air bubble. He trys calling for help, no use. Something makes him collect an item, trys calling for more help, no use of course.. gets some air from a air bubble.
Then, hes drowning. Hes.. Dying.
