- This is try number 2 at a botanical swipe. The first time I tried this it wasn't quite what I wanted and I wanted to try it again. I learned a lot from the first one and this one I really like. I like the composition as well. I will keep playing around with this in the hopes that it will become easier. This technique is a tough one for me! Hope you enjoy the video! I enjoy watching videos where the artist "messes up." Your creations are absolutely beautiful, Molly.
Same. Not because I enjoy seeing others "fail" but because it shows that even for professional artists, art is a process. You could do a million paintings of the same type (swipes, blowout, brush work, impasto etc) and still "mess up" the million-and-first. I also really enjoy the problem solving aspect of Molly's videos like this one and her pearl paints series. She wants X result and doesn't quite get it so she experiments and tries to figure out, step-by-step, what will lead to X result. I have always loved that process side of things - education wise and with art too.
I think as long as you like your art, it doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks. You go girl.
Molly, first off, you can do no wrong. Second off, this one is brilliant. Be proud. I love everything you do.
I love it! Even better after it dried. Don't sell yourself short, and don't worry so much about the comments. If they go heavy on the complaints, maybe they need their own channel, paint with their paints & canvas, and their imagination. All pictures are experiments. How much fun would it be doing the same thing over and over again. We never get that with you, thank goodness.❤😊

Hi Molly I can't say it's my favourite technique but it is worth doing a few more I think. This one is definitely better than the first one. I think it looks more like coloured handkerchiefs or ribbons than a bloom. Not sure about the middle either! I must sound so negative but honestly it is very bright and cheery and has beautiful and interesting lacing. I really do think you're hard on yourself. I know if you continued doing these they would become better and better. I love watching your experimental videos and your thought processes. 🥰
I’m not generally a fan of swipes, but you’ve really got me rethinking that with this one. This is the most beautiful swipe I’ve seen so far.
My daughter told me: "Just because you do not like it doesn't mean that someone else will love it." I kinda took that to heart. I love the colors! They play well together. I think I would have done a balloon smash in the middle, but that swirl looks pretty too. 🤩
I can see a beautiful sun down this way with a balloon dip in the center with a bright yellow! 🙏🙏🙏
At first I wasn't crazy about it until you started dragging paint with your brush there swirls. It's such a whimsical and fun painting!
There is so much movement and vibrancy in this one, it's absolutely lovely. I really enjoy watching you go through the process and improve as you're going as well.

Nope! You are not crazy! It's really pretty. I agree, I think I like this one better. I think the part with the brush end is really cool. It's a very colorful, abstract flower and I love it! Don't worry, you aren't the only one who is hard on themselves. I am too. I did a dual painting for my brother for his wedding and I struggled some days, but I finished it and they loved it! It's now hanging in their son's room!

@@dorindaethridge3724I do the same thing! I talk to myself (and complain to myself) and my kids will overhear me and think I'm having a conversation with someone haha. I think it's a very normal thing to talk to yourself, especially when creating or problem solving.

Don't worry about what people said in the comments, if you enjoyed the process and it made you happy then that's all that matters. This one definitely turned out better. That dark magenta colour would look great in the centre and have the swirls come into it. Not critiquing your piece at all by any stretch, it's just a gorgeous colour. I love how it all flows, it has such beautiful calming energy about it.
