Top righthand turbo to intercooler pipe small split. Check all the turbo plumbing for correct fitment, I had a cheap pipe clip break and the pipe then leaked air under pressure. Prone to aircon fan motor failure at high mileage, and have all the front pulleys and fan belts been replaced? The idler pulley bearings fail, and shreds the fan belt. I suggest a proper dianostic check on everything for correct function. The Autel Maxi200 system on your phone works well. One needs to pay for the Landrover package for one year.

Hi, Sound 1, Take out the Pollen filter run the fans, if louder i suspect bearing on the fan, If no difference, check the small fan at the back of the HVAC switch panel. Sound 2, check all low pressure air in take pipes, air filter box for cracks to Turbo. A smoke test will confirm. Nosie 3, I think that could be oil leaking past the the seals in the transmission. Happy Motoring 😀
Difficult to diagnose on a video, but it sounds like a boost leak. Maybe an intercooler hose is blown. That’s why it’s quieter at cruising speed, (no load on the turbos).
Revival is definitely worth a look, i’ve been going for about 14yrs now, was a bit overcrowded last year, but still enjoyable 👍🏼 great for people watching 😂
The first sound, sounds like a blower motor going bad. Mine does it too and is a big job to get down in the dash. But AC works find for now. For the second sound, do you mean the whooshing sound or the turbo schrill? Could be a boost leak of some sort or sticking actuator. The ticking sounds like a CV axle. If while turning could also be a Sway bar end link but sounds like a CV axle binding
The A/C Fan noise is the HVAC blower motor. Mine did this too but seemed worse than yours only when I turned right 🤣 the spline on the blower gets rusty and squeaks. Only way to fix is to replace it - good luck! Big job 🫣 The second noise is your turbo spooling. Does sound loud but if it’s been rebuilt wouldn’t worry too much. Third noise is just the turbo waste-gate. My 4.4 does this too. I’ve had mine leak tested by smoke and air pressure. There are no leaks on the intake or exhaust what so ever. It’s just a character of the 4.4 bi turbo set up. It may have been re-mapped by a previous owner as that’s what my LR garage suspected with mine. Sounds like a little turbo hot hatch 🤣
Deffo agree on a slit hose or a fitting etc on intercooler pipes either from the turbo side or intercooler side, so this mean Lucy check the small type of radiator and all pipes and connectors to and from pop the bonnet and get your fella to have a listen and feel for rushing of air mind you fingers
Blower motor bearings do the same on mine. Spraying lubricant in the intake does nothing. Its a huge job to replace the blower motor using the book procedure. Faster to take the dash out and then cut away a section of the dash to gain access. 2012 150k miles on mine.
Definitely agree with other comments about hose leaks...could just be a split hose or loose hose. The last noise may be a worn centre bearing on the driveshaft, but as with other comments it's not easy to diagnose on a video.
Definitely a leak in the turbo system somewhere. I had a similar whoosh on my defender and I found a big split in an intercooler hose. Easy fix, whoosh gone. My turbo also makes a sound like a police car is following you. Everyone looks for a police car the first time the drive with me it's hilarious. Mine isn't as loud but it's been like that since I bought it 3 years ago and it hasn't gotten any worse. For what it's worth: I used to get a black puff of smoke on startup and it ran really rough for a few minutes. I had really good results with diesel injector and turbo cleaner (it's basically kerosine). When I start it up it runs beautifully from the start. I'd definitely throw some of that in any older diesel. I saw there is also an oil additive you put in shortly before oil change which also helps remove carbon deposits. I'm going to look into that too.
I've got a disco of a similar era which had lots of quirks and sounds. A fellow Landy guy said to put a proper fuel cleaner through at high revs. ATS 505 CRF. Turbo, acceleration, and all sorts of noises disappeared, and it goes like........ Good luck with your Rangey
Definitely a boost leak . I’ve only owned supercharged Range Rovers Fan squeak is the bearings in that fan itself, take off the cabin filter and spray duck oil or wd40 in the intake it might work , close the dash vents so not to spray oil everywhere and on the glass ❤❤

Noises 2&3 I believe are the same issue and as others have already said it sounds like an intake/boost leak, check all hoses for splits or connection leaks
The turbo noise sounds like a boost leak, the noise in reverse may be the propshaft/propshaft centre bearing and not sure on the fan noise, we have 2 l322 range rovers a facelift td6(just had the gearbox rebuilt and torque converter) and a 4.2 supercharged V8 and love them and really enjoy the range rover content
A Ac issue sounds like a Fan issue. B noice when escalating could be a few things and very difficult to diagnose of a vid could be a carbon build up throu the air in and outs on the engine, or turbo issues, boost issues like leak also check belts and hoses as well. But you may need to clean the manifold pipes or have a look in at them. Or I strongly recommend takeing it to a LR Specialist due a lot of garages will just fire the parts cannon or just give up or advise. The last noise may be tide in to build up of carbon or a leak in the boost pipe work. Bust as said it’s very hard to diagnose off a video. But if it was me open the bonet and check all the pipes you can see it can. Some times be obvious with a blown pipe or not depending on where in the system also check obvious things like the belts, fan . Check the manifold pipe work above the V for build up of carbon and if so clean it out BUT if doing it yourself do your research and at your own risk. Also you may need to do a smoke test if a leak is hard to locate and access to diagnostic equipment. If not happy going that far in take to a Specialist not main dealer. Check there reviews and feed back but most specialist are on top of there game and more cost effective than any main dealers and in ways cheeper than independent garages. Out of my experience with l322 but I have had very little go Wong, key correct servicing and don’t cheap out on parts. But overall they are no less reliable to any equivalent type of vehicle. And factor in the age and it’s a heavy vehicle it will need some love know and again but if you stay on top of her she will go on.
4:51 Possible Blower Motor bearings wearing or beginning to seizing up, might be worth seeing if you could spray a bit of spray grease on the motor area under the dash to see if you could lube it up.
You have the infamous air con blower leak. The bearing in the fan gets dirty and starts to squeek, especially at low speeds. This is a very common problem for all cars. The solution, unfortunately, is to remove the blower fan and replace it
I think the first problem is faulty/clogged HVAC motor, I think the second is a blown Boost pipe. Not sure on the third, but maybe a backing plate? If not then Transfer case/ transmission... Maybe Prop bearings?
The 3rd noise sounds like it comes from the air filter box pretty common on 4cylinder Diesels when you release the gas pedal and the air gets like sucked back or something but i don‘t know if the tdv8 use to sound like that mines don‘t do it maybe check your air filter housing for cracks or sum like that
You and George should definitely do revival - it’s a great event, some amazing older machinery being used as their makers had intended! I’d suggest dressing up too, really get in to it! Maybe try and blag something interesting to go 8n!
The AC noise, blower motor bearing. The engine noise sounds like a boost leak. Check all your hoses, either one is split/loose or there maybe a crack or small hole in the intercooler. Could be wrong, but I think the third noise is related to the second one.
The A/C noise sounds like the bearings on the blower motor is going bad. When the bearings go bad, the shaft gets loose so the squirrel cage (fan that resembles a hamster wheel) will slightly move in the housing causing it to squeal like a cricket as it rubs the housing its mounted inside of. Id recommend having the a/c blower motor changed before it (1) wears the blower motor fan out and or (2) rubs a hole in the housing. Love Land Rovers. I currently have an '08 Supercharged and previously had an LR3, with eyes set on an older Defender to have some fun with.
I know I have absolutely no knowledge on cars at all but just here to drop some thoughts and learn something from you all. The first air con noise sounds like to be the compressor? Or the fan has come off slightly, or blocked by bits of fracture (I guess it is same old as the car)? The second sound when the turbos kick in, I heard this from a BMW 1 series, it’s a rubber pipe leak or blown, the power should went down. Easy fixed by replacing the pipe. This is from my first car (16 reg diesel astra) it doesn’t make the same sound but have issues with EGR. it could be an EGR issue, again I guess the car has never been replaced the EGR valve or carbon deposit cleaned? Tryna get it cleaned. The third sound I just got no idea, sorry. I would recommend getting an OBD reader, it doesn’t need to be expensive but worth it. It can help you get a rough idea what’s wrong. Sometimes the car won’t get a warning light but maybe an error code, you can check what’s wrong with it and see if you can fix that? :))
The heater blower motor packed up in my X5 and that started with a squeaking noise. For my car it was a dash out job but I don’t know about the Range Rover. As for the engine noise- hmm tricky without seeing it. Not sure it’s the turbos. If it’s under load it could be one of the ancillaries. In my opinion if you bought from a reputable dealer I would return it.
The ac does sound like the fan blade within the housing is out of balance and is catching the housing. Possibly a balance weight has come off the fan blade inside the blower assembly. Does it make this noise without the ac on? Noise in reverse, this sounds like compressor surge dumping off, basically boosted pressure not being used blowing back through the air filter. New cassette, it’s possible that the new cassette that’s been installed on your refurbished turbos is upgraded and flowing more air thus creating more air noise. Check the air box also that it hasn’t been drilled to allow more air movement, also check if the air filter isn’t ripped or a sports high air flow filter. Dom
The Ac squeek is a fan issue, probably the bearings are out, in which case you'll need a replacement, but if they still have life in them, a good lubricate will get rid of it.
The third noise is totally normal they all make that noise from the vnt/compound turbos .. the 2nd noise sound like a little a small boost leak .. need to smoke test the intake system
Not had that, but I would take the cabin air filter out the front, put the aircon on full speed and then spray some sillicon lube (not that type) into the air filter housing - it's probably a fan squeaking and the silicon will perhaps lubricate it enough to shut it up.
Whistling noise sounds more like a leak in an intake pipe - which is common, have a smoke test done, the intake (plastic) can be expensive apparently. Pipes are cheap and easy to do.
Changed my mind on noise number two, would guess it's more likely to be a belt rubbing tbh, doesn't sound like a leak. Check the pulleys for play and belt for signs of wear, also a common service item on these.
Ever thought of getting a probe for electrical things in the car. Relatively cheap, you take the electrical componant off, blower fan, connect the probe to the battery of the car, the earth wire to earth and the other to the possitive in the componant, it will set it going and test to see if it's ok off the car. Plenty youtuve instructional vids.
Sound 1: Probably the blower motor (the bearing is worn) / Sound 2: Sounds like a boost leak. Test it with a smoke machine for leaks. / Sound 3: No idea. Would have to see it myself…
Have you gained a lisp Lucy? Love the vlogs, I have the same love/hate relationship with the Range Rover and own a BMW which everyone hates when in the road!
That "mouse" noise coming from you "AC" is actually the fan itself! That fan does not run on bearings, but simply in a "bush&axial" system. This way is the easiest and cheapest way to be done, and most all OEM does it this way. When the bushes gets very dry, warn or dusty, the "scweaking" appears and can be very annoying! Silicon spray on the bush&axial itself will provide some temporary relief, but replacement of the fan in the dashboard will most likely solve it for several hundred km to come! It will require some under dashboard panel removal in most make of cars, as newer vehicles has these fans hidden deep within its "dungeons"... Again, silicon spray might do the trick but it will go with some smell. Choose a silicon spray with a pleasant smell when doing this, as the smell might be around for some time to come...
On the subject of letting people out, my only gripe is that little attention is paid to what may be occurring at say a previous roundabout, level crossing, there are a few near me on the South Coast, or other traffic situation. Case in point there is a turning near me leading to a chip shop where people are constantly being let out which backs traffic up on the previous roundabout, causing a more dangerous traffic condition there which those letting people out constantly fail to see or realise. There will be natural gaps in the traffic at which point people will be able to go preserving the safety of others back down the road. To those of you that believe you are being considerate by letting people out, open your eyes to the bigger road safety picture because you are not if you only see what is in front of you. Flow of traffic is as important to maintain as is road courtesy. Range Rover does sound like it needs some attention. Hopefully it won't be serious but the classic police car siren noise is indicative of turbo issues. Hopefully it will be a boost hose issue and not a terminal turbo one. Nino Rosella of Not Economically Viable rebuilt a crash damaged L322 (I believe) not so long ago.
AC squeak. are you sure all the face vents are open full? (dont forget the ones in the rear). with mine if the face vents are closed, but infact one is just cracked slightly open i get a similar whistle noise. Love the idea of letting people go, that said i am sure you spend as much time as i do at west W crossing waiting for the barriers. GRRRR
Hi Lucy, did you get to the bottom of your random noises? My 3.0 twin turbo Jag makes all the same turbo whistling noises and noises in reverse, i quite like them, sounds like power but just wondered what you discovered……
Is the air con noise doing it with the bonnet open just thinking, is it the compressor pulley needs some lube on it if not, it could be something stuck somewhere. The other noise could be a boost hose going or turbo check to see any splits in hoses from the intercooler. Third noise i would get that top hub rear bush checked out. Loving the shorter hair.
A Range Rover needing a variety of issues diagnosing? Who would have thought such a rare thing could happen... Jokes aside, the fan noise sounds to me like a fan bearing, at least I've had the same sound when fans are dying in computers. The Turbo whoosh makes me think there's an air leak ,like a pipe is split or a clamp is loose, but I'm no mechanic. That reversing clonk just sounds very worrying to my untrained ears. You can tell Lucy is a parent because no parent is ever embarrassed about making weird or silly noises in public, it's just part of life.
The noise when you switch off and when you reverse sound one and the same . If one of you let under the car whe the other switch off ,I suspect you will find its coming from the transfer case actuator. Look it up take it apart. Easy fix
Does the first noise only happen when the aircon pump is engaged or all the time? My last l322 4.4tdv8 had the aircon pump replaced and garage said they would never do another one because it was so much work so hope it’s not that Second noise sounds like a leaky turbo hose on the primary turbo. If you want raw milk, you would be better going to Charlie’s farm shop at the bottom of Bury Hill rather than all the way over to Goodwood. They used to pasteurise and process their own milk on site from their dairy farm, but they no longer do that although you can still get raw milk unprocessed from them. Such a shame as it was the best milk in the area. They also have a really good butchers there too. Third noise could be the transfer box or diff. Is it worse when turning? Have you had the diff and transfer fluids replaced? One of the first things I did on my current L322 when I got it and cured some juddering. Charnocks at LITTLEHAMPTON can do that for you. Very good garage Pete there is brilliant being an ex Land Rover Master technician.
Turbo in my opinion. The bearing gets worn and the blades of the impeller contact the body making the sound. I would guess if you towed a caravan up a hill and accelerated hard it would go into limp home mode.
Lucy, I don’t think I would rely too much on the advice of keyboard experts regarding your Rangerover, they are very complicated machines and repairs are not cheap as you know. The problem with forums and RUclips experts is that whilst they can be very informative many keyboard experts are not even remotely qualified to even attempt to diagnose your issues. They will have you changing this and changing that at great expense to you and not them. Just my opinion based on past ventures with my wife’s rangerover.👍
They won’t have you changing anything. Only people who are truly clueless just throw money at problems. The comments give you ideas or general directions to go in for a diagnosis. Saying not to pay too much to people who write things based on your assumptions is daft and arrogant. Maybe you’ve had bad experiences, but that means you didn’t have the skill set to properly diagnose to begin with.
@@stop_lying_bro I think Lucy would admit to being pretty much mechanically clueless and that’s fine most people are which is why I said that, because keyboard experts often say things like, I changed this sensor at £150 and it fixed my problem and some people spend the money buy the part as advised and it makes zero difference to the problem. I never once mentioned assumption you did, I said based on ventures, I don’t assume because I am neither daft or arrogant but thanks for your narrow minded and negative comment you just proved my point about some keyboard users on forums and RUclips. What I should have said because I anticipated a comment from someone like you is, take it to a rangerover expert they will give you the best chance of an effective repair or diagnosis, I mean if you had a problem with your heart which is a complicated unit would you go onto RUclips to ask what some keyboard expert takes as medication. Point made.
@@kriskalpa that’s very true but how can you prove they are and also they cannot diagnose complicated issues via a RUclips video, they can give an opinion based on what they hear and see and with their experience have a very good idea of what the issue maybe.
On the air con + turbo sounds….very annoying…. Some people find stuff like this annoying (🙋♂️) while others just turn the radio up….some people can’t hear stuff like that at all. I said to the VW garage some years ago, I think a wheel bearing has failed….very subtle, hard to hear sound….i mostly drive at night and if the radio was off I would hear it. They test drove in rush hour-said they couldn’t hear it. I insisted on investigating…ok they said but if we don’t find anything you’ll have to pay the labour. Ok…..got a phone call…yes, my wheel bearing had failed AND the drive shaft splines were almost gone too….too dangerous to drive. 2 days of repairs. ….a week later back on the road, I saw a little VW UP come off a roundabout with a front wheel coming off drifting into the gutter….that could have been me (tho I didn’t have a UP). So, moral of this story is…..don’t ignore little noises. Others have covered the topic properly. Reversing sound….thats possibly more serious, mechanical? I’ve never been a big fan of these cars, but they are very special…interior is exceptional. Maybe the Evoke looks better. But I couldn’t bring myself to spend that much money on a Ranger Rover. Prob buy German or Japanese-and yes prob a step down in some areas but……wouldn’t suffer those annoying problems. I guess you have to weigh up which is more important. …..and the same point would work for other vehicles too.
Hi Lucy I have owned an l320 supercharged for over a year great to drive great to look at but if I am being honest the most overated 4x4 by far I have owned many 4x4's and find the Range rovers far to complicated when there is no need to be sometimes simpler is better great channel you have 👍
Hi Lucy, I've had my Westminster for 6 months now and for the last 4 have had the chirping noise coming from the dash and I really feel your pain, it's driving me absolutely insane 😤 It's not just the air-conditioning, it's whenever the blower fan is turned on and the noise is the round blower fan bearings making the noise. I've already tried going in from the drivers footwell and spraying silicone on it and it worked for a couple of minutes, however inevitably it's going to have to be the dashboard out to change the whole blower motor. I'm just building myself up for the task 😬 Hopefully you get all sorted and look forward to more adventures with the L322 👌👍

Bingo
or a trapped leaf.
Smoke test and get a good scanner. Any boost issues should trigger and diagnostic code , good luck 👍
Dom
Sounds like a split boost pipe/intercooler pipe! ....and the interior noise is crickets in your air-con! 😁
Bearing in fan motor / and turbo noise is probably a small boost leak , a smoke test on system would probably show air leak.
Keep up the LR videos! 🙌🏼
Lucy in that blue dress tho 😍
You know what sells!
The Ac squeek is a fan issue, probably the bearings are out, in which case you'll need a replacement, but if they still have life in them, a good lubricate will get rid of it.
Great Video 🙂🙃
Third noise, wild guess; prop shaft, I think that's also a common weakness where a bearing goes. Check the FFRR forum for info.
Be the turbo's Probably fitted with the Cheap ones
Check the air box is on right to the turbo's
Hope you get it sorted
Hello lucy your get more problems lovely car but come with lots of problems plus money pit stay happy steve😊😊😊
I think this girl worked in insurance in the city.
I remember her. I think her brother worked in the market too.
I don't think so?!😂
The second noise, whooshing noise, it’s from the air intake. Could be air filters or a small cut somewhere
Could be a sport air intake filter
Thanks for this!
I love you from Morocco ❤❤
What size shoe are you pls?
please for us older ones if you want us tp listen to a noise can you be a bit quiet thanks for the video
GRRRR
It’s a boost or intercooler leak! Need to get a smoke test done to find the leak!, 😊
That noise. Sounds like the fan possibly
Hi I had same siren sound on the secondary turbo. There was a problem with loose hose clamp.
Hi Lucy, did you get to the bottom of your random noises? My 3.0 twin turbo Jag makes all the same turbo whistling noises and noises in reverse, i quite like them, sounds like power but just wondered what you discovered……
Nice pins.
You can’t lube a compressor pulley. It’ll be the clutch if it’s only noisey when the ac button is pressed
You can tell Lucy is a parent because no parent is ever embarrassed about making weird or silly noises in public, it's just part of life.
still under warranty so return it and get the dealer to repair. one of the benefits of Land Rover ownership:)
2:24 Ever considered that the people behind may have somewhere to go as well?
Lucy On Desks? That's a VERY different channel.
As is 'Lucy Churns.Butter'...
The noise when you switch off and when you reverse sound one and the same . If one of you let under the car whe the other switch off ,I suspect you will find its coming from the transfer case actuator. Look it up take it apart. Easy fix
First one might be fan blade that has a worn bearing making it squeal.
Most likely a leak from air hose, I had the same noise, sounded like a turbo whistle when I put my foot down.
So many noises! Maybe consider buying a Land Cruiser next?
Does the first noise only happen when the aircon pump is engaged or all the time? My last l322 4.4tdv8 had the aircon pump replaced and garage said they would never do another one because it was so much work so hope it’s not that
Second noise sounds like a leaky turbo hose on the primary turbo.
Sounds like there is a cricket 🦗 or two in the dash 😅 hope you sort it Lucy ❤
hi love the video and the car have good weekemd🤩🤩🤩
Most are saying leak, makes sense to look there first.
Point made.
unless they are RR employees.
@@kriskalpa that’s very true but how can you prove they are and also they cannot diagnose complicated issues via a RUclips video, they can give an opinion based on what they hear and see and with their experience have a very good idea of what the issue maybe.
My 4.4tdv8 doesn't sound like that under load. Sounds like it could be an air leak? I'd be checking the boost pipes maybe?
Noise number 2 is a split boost hose. Normally the drivers side front. Common
Sounds to me like the pollen filter is blocked or has leafs in it
Great content. How did you do the seat belts with the spray please??
I used some silicon spray on them, really easy and worked a treat!
In front of a farm with the Range Rover, you need to be wearing you Wellington farm boots 👢
Sounds like a turbo vacuum pipe either loose, split or collapsing.
I’m either gonna say a possible boost leak or premature turbo bearing failure.
The aircon noise sounds like something is stuck in the vents we had it on our car and dad got it out after a lot of frustration
Is it just me.....but I wish my car made that noise.....sounds fab to me!
It is just you 😂
Rev noise sounds like turbo boost pressure blowing through a loose pipe , split pipe ,
Fan bearing dry squeak and a split turbo pipe
Haha enough on Lucy of desk - fire
Not sure if you know this but that porsche has 9 lights either side of the II (11) (911)
Air con noise could be air con compresser bearing
Yea
get it looked at and return it if necessary
Sounds like a possible CV joint noise?
Mine was doing the whistle, it was the alternator. It eventually threw up a battery warning as it stopped charging
Hers is only when ac button is pressed. If it were the alternator or the aux belt it would be all the time.
