Searching youtube for sledding videos:
1st video: a guy get yeeted to the air, slams hard and gets a concussion.
2nd video: 2 kids just enjoying their time looking like some cereals commercial
It is doable.
Visited the Great Sand Dunes on May 24, 2022 and they were completely covered in snow. Sandboard rentals were not available as the shop owners said the moisture would warp the boards. We tried using cardboard but even on steep slopes the kids couldn't go more than 10-12 feet before a wall of snow and ice stopped them. Someone blessed us with a cheap, clear, thin plastic poncho which the kids put on, then slid down on their backs. It was great fun and my wife screamed all of the way to the bottom!
Did you ever make it?
There was a dune behind the barracks on 29 palms, kinda back by the bowling alley. I would charge to the top with a board, then ride to the bottom. Great workout, as long as to much sand doesn't cover the board, it's not snow after all.
*too
lol
