They can be as cheap or expensive as you want them to be :) Location, location, and location! We live in Utah and I've notices that things are much cheaper when it comes to children, i.e., childcare, etc. My son attends private school. This was a non-negotiable with my wife. She grew up in Utah as a Catholic. If you know Utah, the majority of people are LDS (Mormon). When she grew up she would be shunned for not being LDS and said no matter what our son will attend a private Catholic School. My son plays on competition soccer teams and that sure costs some money!. My son has traveled more as a 9-year old than most adults! HAHA! He also travels better than most adults. I'm at the point where I only fly FC and that means he only fly's FC. I joke all the time that my son doesn't know what it's like to enter a plan and "turn right". :) I have to remind him that he will have to pay for this himself when he is older so don't get used to it! scholarship

@roburb73 - So true! The private/public decision is one that we debate often, but thus far have continued with public. Such a personal decision and it sounds like y’all made a good call.
      FC too!!! So cool! 😎
*edit: love that you remind him that he’ll have to pay for it when he’s older…my hope would be for him to get a taste of “the good life” so he works hard enough to earn it himself. Idk, but I love that you said that to him. Lol

Losing the 2nd income, my wife's, has been our biggest financial hit since she has had to stay home for 6 years to raise our 3 kids

Some things are more important than money. Making sacrifices is difficult. Although this decision y’all have made has impacted your financial life, I pray that it has dramatically improved your family life and I 100% fully support what y’all decided to do there. If done well, you’ll receive priceless dividends for life because of it. My parents had four boys and I cannot imagine how our lives would be different if our mom worked. I’m proud of you. I pray the Lord will bless your family in the years to come.
      Cheers!

Just found out we are having our 2nd child:) . I hit those road blocks with our first child due to lack of planning and “having no idea what was coming lol” . Putting away $300 a month for the next 8mo in a money market acct so I won’t be tempted to spend it.

@James-zw1qb - Oh my goodness!!! Congratulations!!!!! I’m so happy for y’all! One of the best things my dad told my brothers and I was to “start saving early” because he didn’t - and you are doing just that! The fact that you’re learning from baby #1 to #2 now speaks volumes to your character…adapt, overcome, iterate, and improve…you love to see it!
You’re on a great path…keep it up! As you know, they’re not cheap. Lol
