Just got your BlueDriver OBDII for all my p71 and ppv Tahoe’s. Maybe even my wife’s new car if she gets a code. This old cop cars are tanks and with regular maintenance I haven’t had many problems. Some are reaching close to 20 years now so this thing has been a time and money saver. LOVE IT! These videos are awesome, too. Thank you for putting such an awesome device on the market for a almost scary low cost. I feel I should be owing you guys some money. Great company you’ve built. Thank you
Great video. I would like to add for those with plug wire testing is to get in a dark area allow time for your eyes to adjust to the darkness and run the engine at idle in this well ventilated area and look. You will see the spark.
Man I'm loving my BlueDriver... thanks guys, these videos are awesome and super helpful for the DIYers. Keep these informative videos coming. These videos along with LIVE features make working on cars so much easier, time saving and more money in my pocket at the end of the repair bcuz I'm not spending money on parts I don't need !! BlueDriver will remain in my car forever and also any future vehicles I may own. BlueDriver is a game changer and a genius product, I absolutely love it and all the knowledge I'm gaining about working on my own vehicle...
I really like my blue driver. Very useful. Please incorporate bi directional interface in the future such as ABS brake bleeding and steering angle initializing.
if you have questions, you can also email them with your question and your year/model of vehicle, and they kindly reply to you within a day or two.. done that and always found my answer. great product it is! Mini cooper '06.
Thanks guys, I keep learning all the time, wow! so much different from my first car, a Vauxhall Viva HB, circ 1970! I think Stromberg carb? Easy access to plugs etc. So very glad I bought your BlueDriver for my SLK 2008, so much has changed. 🙈
I got P300, 301, 2 and 3 in our 2013 Honda Pilot 184,000 miles. It was running great and there’s no noticeable misfires so I’m bewildered at why those codes were thrown. So I pulled the plugs out on 1 and 2 and they looked ok, I didn’t bother with 3. The reason being that the codes said that all 3 were misfiring and I now know that it’s not because of the plugs. So then I swapped the coils between 1 and 4 to check to see if I could tell if #1 coil is bad, but when I go to crank the car, it was dead. I charge my battery over night. This morning it cranks right up and sounds fine and since the dead battery cleared the codes, I ran the quick scan to see what it would say. It only came back with 2 totally new codes. The one for the car seat heater switch and another for the AC. Then I drove it about 18 miles to see if they’d come back on and so far they haven’t. Several hours later and I just did a full scan with the Blue Driver and it’s still not giving any new codes. So I cleared the heat seater and AC ones that had popped up (they work fine) and I’m guessing a bad or slowly draining battery caused all of this weirdness. I think a new dashcam I recently got and had plugged in must’ve actually been draining the battery just enough that it could’ve done this. I had forgotten to unplug it. The car battery isn’t that old. Is it possible for a battery to make random codes pop up that you think are in error or is there something more serious going on?
Hi! A low charged or defective battery may cause all sorts of issues with electrical components and cause random codes due to low system voltage. If you've experienced any battery issues (i.e. a dead battery) we'd suggest that you test your battery and charging system first before diagnosing any codes. Proper system voltage is a key component before trying to diagnose/repair DTCs and vehicle faults. Good luck!
Will the BlueDriver show live data on misfires for a 2010 Honda Pilot Touring? The check engine light is blinking, and I wanted to see the misfires to help me attempt a fix. I downloaded the app, but didn’t see that option in the app. Thanks for the video.
Why doesn't my mode6 data look like it does in the video? It just shows the values wich mean nothing to me if I don't know what they mean. I have an 02 f150 5.4 with a misfire #6
I installed new plugs. Cyl 2 and 8 had misfires under light load, be fore and after plug change. Moved cyl8 coil to 7 and 2 to 3, Still have misfires on 8 and 2. My car is 2015 mustang GT Roush stage3. I’m narrowing it down to the VCT solenoids or injectors.
My 2014 nissan y62 320hp has some weird misfire, it does it for around 6 seconds every 1-2mins randomly. Changed spark plugs, coils, still have the problem. Scanned for any error codes none found. The only things that worries me that when the misfire happens I starts to hear the sound of the lifters loudly, any idea what might be the problem?.
Is there a way to check for misfires even when the check engine light is NOT on? like maybe there's a few and its not enough to make the check engine light come on but I'd still like to know.
They talked about measuring the resistance (ohms) of the coil but never actually did the test. Is the normal resistance approx 1 ohm on a 2 pin coil? Does anyone know the correct method for measuring? Thank you
Does bluedriver give me access to LIVE misfires in mode 6 data? I am trying to find a scan tool that will allow me to track misfires live so I can rule out a shaky idle as a misfire engine performance issue and not a mount or harmonic balancer
I have a 2006 altima 2.5. Code P0302. New set of plugs then swap coils around same code moved the injector around same code. Replace cylinder 2 injector to no avail. When to the dealer he told me I needed to replace it and have the rest of the injectors clean at a whopping price of 1000.00. Car idles rough but when you put foot on the gas ever so slightly it runs smooth. No loss of power no excessive fuel consumption . Only idles rough. Suggestions?
I had multiple coils on my v8 that were only half faulty, so it wouldn’t throw a code and engine idle wouldn’t change when you swapped them around either. Finally just ate the $ and bought OEM new coil packs for 35 a piece. Ran like new again
I have a blue driver scanner. My f150 is misfiring but it hasn't thrown a code for check engine light. How can i figure out which cylinder is misfiring?
I'm curious why a $120 Launch scanner can read misfires on my 2003 Cadillac Deville DHS but the Bluedriver can't? Also, the same Launch scanner can read the ABS code on my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee but the Bluedriver can't? Also, my Bluedriver keeps telling me there's an update but after doing the update it's still the same version.
Hope you guys checked your work, sometimes a flexible boot on the coil can miss the spark plug. (Ask me how I know). I would check spark plugs after the coils. Just an easy diagnostic, compared to fuel pressure/delivery.
I just bought a Blue Driver. I've followed just what you have done to see misfires and I can't get to your screen. Could it be you are using an Apple device?
If this is for mode 6 yes, with the exception of Fords who had mode 6 misfire counters almost since the beginning. There are a few exceptions, some vehicles that started using CAN early may have them as far back as 2005ish
So I have no codes or check engine light. Yet under mode 6 data, I'm getting misfires. Today I got 6 counts of misfires on cylinder 3 and 1 on cylinder 1. Another 2 on cylinder 5. Yet I got no code. Any help would be appreciated
You can leave it plugged in yes. If a vehicle is going to sit for 3+ weeks without running we always recommend unplugging it at that point. The only exception would be a Mazda vehicle. You should always unplug the scanner from a Mazda when you are finished with it.
GREAT VIDEO! Thumb's up and subscribed, also bought the BlueDriver. Just pissed that I was not able to save many many thousands of dollars by being able to type this comment back in 1987, when I got my first used car. Yas don't know lucky yas are :-(
Hi guys, I have a question with my blue driver and a 2000 silverado. I just replaced my bank 2 up and downstream o2 sensors. I used the mode 6 option I took a screenshot amd was wondering what this means. Do you have a email I can send these pics to for some clarification please
After the knock sensor replacement on the 2002 chevy tahoe v8, i got a p0300 code on my Bluedriver app and the car was trembling. I changed the intake manifold gasket and throttle body gasket, and the car no longer trembled or hesitated to stay on. Just some advice for anyone out there
The intake manifold leak will make the engine think it's running lean because of unmeatered air coming into the engine, the O² sensor will sense a lean condition and add extra fuel to compensate for what it thinks is a lean condition but it's actually gagging on all the fuel. This would also be noticed by as a lean condition in your short and long term fuel trim data on live data with Blue driver. Fuel trim is taken after engine is warm and should normally be 0% but can fluctuate 5-10% either way. The "lean" condition will set a code if it exceeds 25%. Fuel trim will Improve when you drive if the vacuum leak is smallish, otherwise you have other issues.
The only reason I haven't purchased a Blue Driver is b/c the fine folks at Blue Driver say it won't give ABS brake info for a 1999 Camry. HOW COULD THEY MISS THIS? I asked them this 2 years ago and they STILL have not added this data. HEY BLUE DRIVER.... THERE'S STILL A TON OF 90's CAMRYS ON THE ROAD. Consider having all data for every Camry, Corolla Accord and Civic ever made. Just sayin'.
I’m new here and new to BlueDriver, which I own. It’s been a year or so since Dbf Crell wrote the above reply, asking for BlueDriver to upgrade ABS coverage of his 1999 Camry and possibly other Honda vehicles’ ABS data. Has this omission been corrected in any BlueDrive upgrades? If not, why not? Thank you. RL

This is the very first time that blue Drive shows me something additional and of value. I wish they had more videos and diagnostic solutions.
Right
Getting the BlueDriver OBD2 is the best investment I’ve ever made with my cars. Highly rated for good reason!
The lil Bluetooth is life saver and smart way to do things

I love my BlueDriver . Doesn’t do all an expensive tool does but does more than enough for me - working on 3-4 cars weekly
Sometimes I feel like that's me too, and I only have 3 :D
One of the best things I bought for my car
Love the Canadian accents it makes me giggle you guys know what I’m talking about. Thanks
Never noticed, says the Canadian guy;)

Great video. Very helpful. Straightforward and clear. Good job, you guys! Oh, BTW, BlueDriver works fabulous!
I guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow.
Thanks for the video.
Extremely well video I learned so much thanks.
This blue drive really works well but it didn't tell me I had a broken spring on the exhaust valve that was my Miss on number 3
Thanks for the helpful videos 👍👍

I put new plugs and coils still miss firing. 😢 same codes than before.
Have the same problem. Next step is fuel I jesters according to bluedriver hope it works 🙏

Do you have a video that will help me diagnose misfires in a 2017 Ram 1500
These videos are pretty cool

Had code p302 304 306 changed spark plugs but still says they are misfiring any ideas for a 2007 hyundai entourage 3.8
Should i leave bluedriver after finish using it or i can leave it in there without taking off bluedriver?

Great information with distracting noise in the background.
Is it possible that there is mirefire and no check Engine
I like the BlueDriver unit. Unfortunately, it will lose connection to the ECM, and kill the dashboard gauges.
Hello Joe, reach out to us at support@bluedriver.com. We will be glad to help!

Didn’t work, 2016 Chrysler 300: it says cylinder 1 misfire so I switched all the spark plugs and coil and it’s still showing up as a misfire.
Will it detect missfire not throwing a code ?
detected mine and i had no check engine light
What about a random code, P0411?
I changed spark plugs and OE wires and still showing all the same codes.
Took out my coil pack and it was flooded with oil. 😔
