The island of Santorini has a pretty explosive past. It’s perched over the remains of a much larger land mass that sank almost 4,000 years ago when a volcano blew its top, leaving the blue caldera and steep cliffs behind.
It is these cliffs and the flooded caldera that have become Santorini’s iconic calling card, and the first stop on your Santorini tour. Here’s your first bit of trivia: The whitewashed homes that appear on so many postcards and photographs are larger than they appear on the outside. They’re partially built into existing cliffside caves, and feature some of the most distinctive Mediterranean architecture you’ll ever see.
Santorini sightseeing will no doubt bring you up the stairs and pathways to the blue-domed churches that stand guard over the island. From there, you can take in the exquisite view of the caldera and harbor below. If you get a little weary of the spectacular sights, don’t worry; there’s plenty of things to do besides wander the various clifftop towns. If you head down to water level, you can soak in the warm surf, explore Santorini’s many beaches, go for a drive along winding roads, or go on a fishing expedition from one of the harbors.
At the end of the day, gather with the residents and visitors atop the cliff towns and watch the sun drop into the ocean. You’ll never see a view quite like it.

Not much of an island person but Santorini is like no other. It is so special and I can’t get enough of it!!!

I spent my honeymoon in Santorini. Absolutely fabulous. Try to stay in Ia Village. It has the best sunset and view to the caldera.

Em agosto de 2016, eu e meu parceiro fomos para Santorini para uma semana. Hospedamos no Pegasus Suites Hotel *****stars. ilha é fascinante, é exótica, o branco e azul fazem detalhes exuberantes, nas residencias e hotelarias. A água do mar é tão azul que reflete a cor do mar com o branco e, dá vida a fotos e vídeos. Foi uma experiência maravilhosa.

Excellent place to visit. How many days are enough to discover this island ?
I would recommend a week. You should see Oia, Fira, the Akrotiri Red Beach, Perissa, and more.
Hopefully I'll find some time to visit these islands. I usually go to medditerranian coasts of Turkey. But it's I think time to go to Greece.
2 to 3 after that you can get bored, it is quiet small and in the summer months because of cruise ships too many visitors are there and ruin the experience... but it is one of the most breathtaking places i've ever visited. I recommend flying their and using a different island for swimming and beach and this one as a quick stop over to enjoy the beauty.

Maybe you know already. Have a look at those two videos, Santorini, Yuri palma, and 36 hours in Santorini, Sam Kolder. Incredibly, two among best worldwide filmmaker have been in Santorini in the same period.

I purchased a flexible ticket from Expedia for a hotel in Paris, when I tried to change my check in date from 9/30 to 10/1, they said no rooms were available, even though I was getting rid of a date instead of adding one. Book directly from venue to avoid this scam.
