Just wanted to give you guys your kudos for taking any and all feedback you received in good faith seriously. I thought SV seemed a lot more engaged with the show this time around which was nice to see. It seems your channel is young and some of that could just be getting more comfortable with filming in general but either way, I think it's always nice to see when people are willing to give what they're watching all the attention and respect it deserves. Whether you would have watched something in your own time or not, it's going to be *somebody's* favorite thing and they just want to see you give it a fair shot. Hi Mishy! SV Here, the first episode, I was reeeeeeaaalllly nervous. I don't get nervous really most anywhere else, but I can be rough and have an absolutely dark and irreverent sense of humor, and while I value that about me, I think I worried too much about offending people, which had me modulating my responses. It really came through I think in the first two episodes of Heartstopper. I'm going to say it...our episode 3 was a stinker. I was not well at all, and I probably should have put a pause on recording until I felt a bit better. It's something I'll likely have to do in the future, because the content isn't up to our standards, but we left it up, because we believe that this is a journey and not every step is going to be lined in gold, sometimes you step into a cowpie or two lol. Thanks for sticking around with us! We have a ton coming out as we try to get caught up and react to EVERYTHING before season 3 drops!

Hello from India!! I had to say I felt my heart drop when you mentioned about the friend from your story being from India. You had the right assumption it's been tough here regarding LGBTQ rights. But, recently it's been getting better, we decriminalised gay relationships and we have great activists working to legalise same sex marriages, there was an ongoing court hearing but no notable changes were made. The community is demanding their rights and equality while simultaneously working to uphold the rights that have been provided such as reservation for trans folks. It's an uphill battle, there's lots of unnecessary politics and cultural talk intertwined into it but there's hope. It's come a long way, I'm still hopeful we'll have a better space for queer people in India in the coming future. Been loving both of your discourse and the stories though. I'm so glad you guys are enjoying this show, I've been reading the books and I'm right where season 3 would be and I'm holding off reading it to avoid spoilers. This cast is amazing and deliver every time. For a new reaction channel, you guys are doing a great job, I'm glad Heartstopper was your first show, or I might not have found you. Young Royals and Heart Break High are also great shows with gay and straight teen drama if you are interested. I can't think of a question other than can you believe this is Joe Locke's first acting gig? Kit has been acting since he was a small child, but Joe is new to this and is already joining the MCU with Agatha All Along after doing a Broadway musical? WOW, these guys are going places. Kit has a new animated movie coming out soon and is also getting ready to star as Romeo in a new adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, I can't wait.
So many were first time actors from the Open Casting Call so they could see a lot of people within one year of the characters’ ages, they needed a heap of teen mains and something like 200 teen extras. They got 10,000 teen respondents they found Joe Locke for Charlie among.
The acting is really good! When GV came to me with the idea of starting a You Tube channel, the dynamic of GVSV and some content ideas, he was most gung ho about react content, and really wanted to start off with Heartstopper. I asked him if there was an audience for this sort of thing, and the look he gave me said enough for me to be sold on it. Young Royals is probably the most requested show we've gotten so far, I'm fairly certain we'll get to that show, at least it will be in our planning for react post Heartstopper. -SV
Have you noticed that Tao knows that Charlie was badly bullied the term before this show started. Charlie was bullied by people like Nick's friends. Nick so far does nothing to distance himself from these awful people who are potentially going to hurt Charlie. He has no reason to give Nick any grace that he won't bully Charlie too. He is being a big time protective friend when he doesn’t know Nick's character. (Nick just walks around with Harry throwing a rugby ball at students in the lunch breaks - including Tao. He does nothing to stop Harry. This is what Tao sees. He's not seen Nick stand up to Harry for bad mouthing Charlie or Ben for sexually harassing Charlie. Tao doesn’t even know that Charlie was in an awfully abusive relationship with Ben.
That big brother protectiveness is on display for sure. I was an athlete in HS, and thankfully my team members weren't throwing sports equipment at the other kids, but I'd have a real problem with them doing so. I was bullied in school, so I have a very small tolerance for bullies. - SV

Just discovered your channel and I have to say: I REALLY enjoy watching you guys react to this show which is so immensely precious to me and to my heart. I can relate to many things Alex says being gay myself but, also, I really like how Carl reacts and analyzes everything from a different point of view but with a lot of respect and empathy. I was wondering if the blue lights in the background and the yellow T-shirt were an intentional choice or it was all just a big coincidence (I don't know if you guys are aware of the symbolism of those colors in HS: yellow representing Charlie and Blue representing Nick, so much that in the rain kiss scene the umbrella Charlie gives to Nick is half yellow and half blue; the walls of the school are painted in blue and yellow and so on... 🙂) I really hope you guys will go on through both the first 2 seasons and maybe even the 3rd one which is about to be released this October. About Tao (Some people start off being irritated by him, but eventually liking him) Something I want to point out about him is that through listening to his dialogue throughout season 1, I could tell that he is driven by : Fear of abandonment and The serious desire to protect Charlie. Even though you can get that from what he says in various comments in season 1 ---- [Not really a spoiler]: There is more information about those two issues in season 2: The first is hinted at in a conversation Tao has with his mom and later on, in a conversation with Nick. The latter comes up in a conversation he has with Charlie. 💖💜💙

GV, what about "all of us strangers 2023" and "god's own country 2017" What I like about Heartstopper (besides the healing that was for me, as the history of Nick is very close to home) is that even for my gay and straight friends what I notice is that it brings good memories from high school, that are not always the first thing that comes to mind, but I like they can remember that even highschool felt hard... it had it good parts. One of my ex-girlfriends said after watching the series that she was able to remember the good friends that she had and how we take care of each other.

Unfortunately (at least where I live in the deep red south ) teachers aren’t allowed to be supportive in this way. I used to be a teacher and one of my own kids is gay. 2 years ago we pulled out of the school system and I now homeschool my kids because they are not allowed to be themselves and be supported at school anymore. As a teacher, I used to be able to be there for students like Charlie but if I offered any support of this kind to students today I could be fired.
GV, please hit pause prior to every single time you want to talk, even if it’s a brief comment. You talk over so much of the important dialogue that really hinders the reactions that we want to see from SV. I’m sure you have watched this multiple times so you know the dialogue inside and out. You seem to forget this is his first time experiencing it. Please either stop the gaysplaining, or hit pause every time you feel the need to comment. I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to season 3 since it will be new to both of you and you will be reacting rather than gaysplaining. We're brand new at this, and we haven't found that balance of talk and pause yet, but GV is WAY better at pausing than I am. The real trick is when season 3 comes and both of us will be too into the show to remember to pause. That's going to be interesting. Back to the gaysplaning real quick, while I absolutely get what you're saying, and I appreciate it, this is the MOST I've heard him speak about this stuff, even off screen in our real world friendship (part of which you're seeing) he doesn't talk about it much. Trying to be helpful; I’d say the titles of your videos are confusingly misleading. I watch on my TV and only see the first part of each title and the first part of each says Episode 1, 2, and 3. And the one that says Episode 3 kicks right into Episode 4 (because episodes 2 & 3 were combined in the last video). I’d suggest they should simply read “Part 1, 2, 3” etc. if episodes are going to be combined. Maybe just overlay onto the thumbnail pic what episodes are in each “Part” (which works for other reactors). I like your channel’s theme, keep going.

Questions for you hmmm. 1, Are your friendship circles almost a circle, or more like a classic Venn Diagram? 2. This is a big ask, but it’s kind of what jumps out at me really strongly (and shows I haven’t watched your ‘about us’ episode yet). Is part of your comfort with each other having been there for one another to get through PTSD? Not that either of you look like you have PTSD, but I’m aware huge numbers of people in mental and/or physical trouble are great at automatically masking it. 3. What else other than airplanes (yay) and superhero movies (yay)? Did either get into onboard/deployment handcraft hobbies like knitting, crochet, whittling, get good at sewing because Armed Forces?

Something I want to point out about him is that through listening to his dialogue throughout season 1,
I could tell that he is driven by :
Fear of abandonment
and
The serious desire to protect Charlie.
Even though you can get that from what he says in various comments in season 1 ----

The first is hinted at in a conversation Tao has with his mom and later on, in a conversation with Nick.
The latter comes up in a conversation he has with Charlie.

What I like about Heartstopper (besides the healing that was for me, as the history of Nick is very close to home) is that even for my gay and straight friends what I notice is that it brings good memories from high school, that are not always the first thing that comes to mind, but I like they can remember that even highschool felt hard... it had it good parts. One of my ex-girlfriends said after watching the series that she was able to remember the good friends that she had and how we take care of each other.
I mean... I'm all for Road House and the new one (which I haven't seen and I don't know if GV has seen either one) We have a spreadsheet that we track ALL of the content suggestions we get, and we are thinking about the react content that will work best post Heartstopper, so more content is in the works and hopefully it's something that a bunch of you all will enjoy! - SV

@@dsmp21 Thank you! We are watching and reacting to every episode into Season 3. We recorded all of season 1 last weekend, and we are binge watching season 2 this weekend. The plan is to have all of season 1 and season 2 published before season 3 starts. Plus reacts to trailers and teasers. It’s a bunch of work for guys who don’t do this for a living, but we want to be in a position where we all (us here at GVSV and all of you) get to watch season 3 togetherish lol. We have an episode coming out today, we’d love some feedback on that from everyone, we’re trying some new things to fight the amount of copyright strikes we’ve been getting. - SV

I feel like GV is expressing his feelings about the show even if he is explaining the show to his friend- he's using this show to have this dialogue about his experiences. I appreciate that this is the theme of this channel. He is also reacting to this show with his friend beside him in real time, even though he's watched it before. This viewing experience is new for him too. Just as valid that he talks over the show as and when he wants to and doesn't hold back or swallow his voice.
Oh, one of the reasons I want them to pause to talk is that I totally want to hear every single word they say, instead of stressing over SV missing so many plot and character points. The conversations they have are wonderful.
Sometimes I forget that we're recording react content and I'm getting into the show so GV pauses it and internally I'm like "really bro?!?!" hahaha If it wasn't for GV we wouldn't have much more than me watching a TV show lol - SV

Unfortunately (at least where I live in the deep red south ) teachers aren’t allowed to be supportive in this way. I used to be a teacher and one of my own kids is gay. 2 years ago we pulled out of the school system and I now homeschool my kids because they are not allowed to be themselves and be supported at school anymore. As a teacher, I used to be able to be there for students like Charlie but if I offered any support of this kind to students today I could be fired.

GV, please hit pause prior to every single time you want to talk, even if it’s a brief comment. You talk over so much of the important dialogue that really hinders the reactions that we want to see from SV. I’m sure you have watched this multiple times so you know the dialogue inside and out. You seem to forget this is his first time experiencing it. Please either stop the gaysplaining, or hit pause every time you feel the need to comment. I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to season 3 since it will be new to both of you and you will be reacting rather than gaysplaining. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy the deep conversations between the two of you. That helps make these videos much better. Just be more thoughtful of your audience

I've seriously have never heard of the term "gaysplaining" until going into our comments section lol. We're brand new at this, and we haven't found that balance of talk and pause yet, but GV is WAY better at pausing than I am. The real trick is when season 3 comes and both of us will be too into the show to remember to pause. That's going to be interesting. Back to the gaysplaning real quick, while I absolutely get what you're saying, and I appreciate it, this is the MOST I've heard him speak about this stuff, even off screen in our real world friendship (part of which you're seeing) he doesn't talk about it much. But 100% pause and then gaysplain! (I'm using that from now on to bust his chops lol) - SV

Trying to be helpful; I’d say the titles of your videos are confusingly misleading. I watch on my TV and only see the first part of each title and the first part of each says Episode 1, 2, and 3. And the one that says Episode 3 kicks right into Episode 4 (because episodes 2 & 3 were combined in the last video). I’d suggest they should simply read “Part 1, 2, 3” etc. if episodes are going to be combined. Maybe just overlay onto the thumbnail pic what episodes are in each “Part” (which works for other reactors). I like your channel’s theme, keep going.

2. This is a big ask, but it’s kind of what jumps out at me really strongly (and shows I haven’t watched your ‘about us’ episode yet). Is part of your comfort with each other having been there for one another to get through PTSD? Not that either of you look like you have PTSD, but I’m aware huge numbers of people in mental and/or physical trouble are great at automatically masking it.
3. What else other than airplanes (yay) and superhero movies (yay)? Did either get into onboard/deployment handcraft hobbies like knitting, crochet, whittling, get good at sewing because Armed Forces?

3. You want to know something that GV doesn't know about my time in the Marines? One of the hobbies I picked up in the Marines to pass the time while on training deployments was Devil Sticks (juggling sticks).
